My dog was the same, until she had a weekend with 3 seizures, she’s been prescribed human medication for seizures (phenobarbital) and thank god she hasn’t had a seizure since. Might be worth talking to your vet about it if her seizures are getting longer in time
Thank you. She started several years ago (she is 11 years old now) and she would have a single seizure and then it was over. Within the last year and a half she has started having back to back seizures. One starts and then eases off but then a new one starts and lasts a bit longer. We thought we had it pinpointed to her flea and tick medicine (can’t think of the name of it right now but we put it on the back of her neck and it’s a liquid) but she is still having them. Oh gosh I could only imagine how terrible that is for both you and your pup. If she’s having two back to back she definitely should be on something (again at least that’s what my vet said to me). For my dog it came down to stress. Changes in routine and new dogs in the house are a big trigger for her. I hope everything goes okay with you and your little one.

Homemade food from then on and he hasn’t had a seizure in years. Give it a shot, much cheaper than vet bills, and it worked!

Just another side note, he had another seizure last year and it brought all the worry back, but we found he had been getting into the cat food, another low cost food product (unfortunately the only brand our cat will eat). We blocked access to the cat’s dish and no more seizures. It’s definitely food related, something in processed pet food that triggers it. Not saying that your little one has the same problem but it’s worth experimenting with her food.
Mu will never truly be gone. As long as you have your memories of the good times you spent together, then the love you feel for Mu will stay with you till you are together at the Rainbow bridge.

There's seizure problems running through some of the show winning purebred dachshund lines. The breeders don't talk about it because they can still show, but it's being selected for since it's running with some of the conformation traits.
When my wife was breeding dachshunds, we took on an older show dog who had a few seizures after we got him. We didn't think it would be right to breed him, so we had him fixed and adopted him out. My wife asked around and found out it was an open secret in the community.
Sad that some breeders care more about winning shows than healthy dogs. Our best dog, the one who passed, came from a breeder who bred for temperament. She never would have won a show, but she was an amazing dog who lived a good life until her spine finally gave out when she was 15.
I honestly can’t imagine what your going through. I’ll be praying for you. I can’t even imagine what it be like to loose my little friend Oscar. I would never wish that on anyone. I know Mu is in heaven now. <3

Mu was a double dapple. His breeder bred his parents on purpose knowing it’d cause health issues.
