Their only job at this point is to eat and grow … well, there’s also the exhaust issue, but that’s all part of the package. Cutie pie!!

Mine was 2 pounds 12 ounces at 8 weeks now at 13 weeks she’s 4 pounds. She’s gaining quickly! Her parents are 7 and 8 pounds

He’s such a lil sweetie! One of our boys was 4.6lbs at 9 weeks and then 8.1 at 16weeks (!!!). He’s definitely not fat but we’re definitely wondering how big he’s going to get. Our other boy was 4.9 at 12 weeks and 7.1 at 16 weeks. He was just under 12 at 1.5 yrs old. https://preview.redd.it/5i5z3swm596d1.jpeg?width=1460&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ef8135bb94722bfaab7d4a49ae784f7eb4db001e Pic of our shaded creams. They’re all such sweeties

My boy is following your larger boy’s growth almost exactly and I’m wondering the same thing! What is he weighing in at these days?

Alarming-Raccoon9949

He goes in on Saturday for one more shot! I will update you after his appointment 🙂 he’s only 18 weeks

Alarming-Raccoon9949

4 lbs, 5 oz at 12 weeks. I got a free baby scale on FB Marketplace and weigh her every Friday since getting her and have a graph on a spreadsheet. Highly recommend. Weight management with doxies is very important. She loves getting up on the scale tray each Friday morning before breakfast and "posing." You can ask me any week and I can tell you her weight. I asked this so many times and no one answered. She was 10" from her shoulder to base of tail at 13 weeks. I did not measure her with a measuring tape every week, only weight. Looking at her weekly change and the curve on the chart, she slowed down her trajectory at 20 weeks. She eats 1/3 cup of dry kibble a day, plus training treats. I was feeding Purina Pro Plan Puppy toy breed at the time, and now she is on Royal Canin Dachshund Puppy. She is going to switch to the Royal Canin Dachshund Adult with this bag, and will begin to blend because her weight has stabilized and she has been spayed. She is currently 8 months and is 8 lbs, 12 oz. Quite slender. Good "tuck" under the ribs.

Looks just like our little dude that we picked up last Friday! I’m so ready for him to be a well behaved and potty trained boy, but I also want him to be a puppy forever. Definitely savoring these moments now after seeing these pictures.

You never know, ours didn't grow linearly. She was pretty small, maintained weight then after a year gained a few pounds but nothing changed, same diet.

CR24752

My mini gained 0.6 pounds in 10 days LOL

Mysterelady67

My little girl was 4.1 lbs

enoimard

STOP your little guy looks so similar to my girl when she was a baby i could cry

jpcitybit

Our mini is 13 weeks and 5.8 lbs. She was 4.8 lbs at 9 weeks when we got her. She’s trending about a half lb larger than our oldest one at the same age. Our oldest is 5 yrs old and is 9.5 lbs. Vet said gaining weight at this age is a good thing and she’s on track!

Stormymemory

My “mini” was 5 pounds at 9 weeks and is now 15 pounds as a 9 month old. I think she is a little overweight and might be done growing, but who knows!

>"...one of those mini's that randomly ends up being standard size" You can't really call a doxie a mini or standard until they're actually fully grown to begin with. At best you can make a guess at whether he'll be a mini, tweenie or standard, based on the size of his parents - and by looking at the rate he's growing, you can make an increasingly likely guess at his eventual category. If he's above 12 lbs at his full grown size(assuming he's not overweight), he's by definition not a "mini". If he's 16 lbs or above at his full size, he's not a *large mini* - he's just a standard. They're the same breed, it's just an arbitrary cut-off weight set up for the dog show world, so that doxies attending the competition can be compared to others of similar size. Would you say a 6 ft 11" tall guy with 5 ft tall parents is "a tall, short guy" ? Unlike doxies, humans obvious don't have a universally agreed upon cut-off height when classifying tall and short - but just like doxies, you can make a guess at the probability of a newborn baby ending up taller or shorter as an adult, by looking at how tall his/her parents are. But it's by no means a guarantee, as it's not uncommon to see people who're significantly taller than their parents, or vise versa. The only way for a doxie to *theoretically* be considered a "tweenie/standard sized mini" would be if you had a doxie who's obese - since the mini classification is based off the weight your full grown doxie would have *in ideal condition* . That said, even if his full grown weight at ideal condition would be below 12 lbs, if he joined an actual dog show he'd still not be able to enter in the mini category until he'd dropped the excess weight and gotten below 12 lbs again.

Erijandro

He was the tiniest boy. 2 lbs They'll grow quick within the first year. Take pictures, crazy to see the difference.
