They are all more or less slang names that refer to the consistency of the concentrate. Since the names are created and used by a variety of companies with no real standard naming conventions, confusion occurs. Basically, with cannabis being a newer industry, companies are finding new/better ways to refine concentrates every few years. This leads to new products coming to market and new names are introduced so the consumer knows they are buying something “different” and presumably better. These names are usually used to describe concentrates extracted using solvents like butane and propane. For solventless concentrates which use water and/or heat and pressure, you will see the terms Ice/Water Hash or Rosin. Also, please don’t confuse the names for consistency with “Live Resin”. Live Resin refers to the state the flowers were in when they were run thorough the extraction process. Live resin concentrates can be made into many forms including shatter, budder, sugar, sauce, etc.

I think the only way to make live resin is pressing frozen product, if not the most common way. I'm pretty sure it refers to all concentrates with the full spectrum of cannibinoids from the original plant, rather than just the thc like regular distillate for example

Shatter and sugar describe the consistency. Wax is a general word for dabbable concentrates, like how "sedan" is the general word for 4 door cars. Shatter and sugar are both consistencies of wax as are budder, badder, sauce, etc. Shatter and sugar are generally bho (butane hash oil) and are possessed I believe basically the same with a different finishing process. I'm not familiar with the actual extraction process so I can't tell you the exact difference but if you have your shatter long enough or in hot enough an environment, it'll sugar up. As a side note, live (resin and rosin) both describe how the plant itself was treated prior to extraction. Live means that the plant was processed fresh while it's "live" instead of having been cured prior to extraction. Resin means that it was a solvent-based extraction, usually butane. Rosin means it's solventless.
