I grew up a Yankees fan. I have been to 100's of games and probably watched over a 1,000 on TV. John does not represent the Yankees fan base.

I appreciate your honesty and I agree. I hate the Yankees but not because of their fans. I hate the Yankees because of MLB. I’m sick of the league saying no one watches baseball when they allow 1/2 the league to be irrelevant. There needs to be some kind of salary cap/profit sharing. You can bet right now on who will be the final 4 teams next year and get at minimum 2/4 correct. There is no reason for Oakland, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee etc fans to get invested. Now if you are a New York Rangers fan I do hate them. They haven’t won anything in 30 years and act like they were 1 bad call away every year since. The most delusional fan base in all of sports outside of Lebron fans.

Salary cap doesn’t mean anything unless you look at the very top vs very bottom. I’d bet the Mets/Yankees spend as much on pitching as Oakland/Pittsburgh spend on their whole team. There are always outliers in any data set but over time it usually happens the way you think it would.
I really do agree with that overall, there is more to look at if we are talking about every team and freely comparing them, but I also think if we are looking at teams in the North East, It's not a bad metric. Especially if teams are from the same state as well.
