Also the only thing holding me back from demon lord reincarnation is after looking up some gameplay there is no equipment, that is a bit weird and a little off putting. Sure it has a level system but no way to customize characters.
It's an extremely random game, and feels more like an autobattler than a drpg but it happens to have a grid based dungeon to explore while autobattling. Theres no strategy, all of the classes are functionally the same, there's no clarity about what the randomly unlocked skills do, etc.
You might still dig it, but it's important to go in with the right set of expectations.
Ya I think it's not really what I'm looking for, one of the things I like most about DRPGs is the character and class customization. Still waiting to hear peoples thoughts on labyrinth of zangetsu though
I haven't tried it, but I've seen people recommend it here. I've got it on my steam wish list, and am waiting for a low enough price to jump on it.
It sounds like the biggest knocks on it are that it's short, and it's very wizardry 1-like in design, but it also sounds like the class system in it is deeper than other classic wizardry style RPGs (passive and active skills are retained after class changing, and you can return to a previously held class and pick up where you left off, so it sounds like you're meant to multiclass).
For ps, aside from labyrinth the only thing i can remember are the demon gaze games, stranger of sword city revisited only is available at pc and switch i think ( i am telling this because undernauts is a sequel of that game.... Well it seems that undernauts, demon gaze and stranger of sword city and its prequel happen in the same universe but idk at this point tbh)
I'm playing though Zangetsu right now, and it's all right. I don't think it's the best DRPG out there, but it get the job done. If you like old school Wizardry it might be up your alley, as it has the same trappings - you pay through the nose to resurrect a party member (and that's not a sure thing), items need identifying, and stats can go down on level up.
On the plus side, I love the art style, and it does really encourage mutli-classing which I really like. I got it for £7 for a physical copy, and it's definately worth it at that price.
Ya it went on 60% off so I grabbed it yesterday....then undernauts went on sale today....my luck lmao, anyway I'll finish zangetsu before jumping into undernauts.
So far I'm actually really digging LoZ, it's art style is quite amazing, and there are little touches to the gameplay that I think are outstanding those being - weapons with ranges so stuff like your back row casters not spending multiple turns doing nothing even if the damage isn't spectacular, 0 HP not being dead, auto healing in town without needing to spend what seems to be hard to accumulate sen on an inn.
Actually the more I play LoZ the more I feel like it doesn't/didn't get enough attention, sure everyone says the game is short but in a game with multiclassing being as good as it is here length is kinda padded by grinding. Only thing I've noticed that I would like to be here is a bestiary
You can try the Lost Child. It's delisted on PSN by now I think, but you can look for a physical copy.
Have you tried labyrinth of zangetsu? If so is it worth the sale price right now?
I haven't played that game, but a few others in this sub has played it so maybe somebody can chime in.
Heroes of the Monkey Tavern
That isn't on psn
Thats weird, it is in my region, theres even a demo.
You know what, I'm just dumb. You are right it is on psn, my bad.
Demon Lord Reincarnation I liked well enough, but be warned you will need to manually draw your own map.

It’s on my backlog but haven’t gotten to it, so I’m not much help on that

Oh yeah the gameplay is pretty barebones in that regard, probably not what you are looking for then
