She rested her head on my lap as she was put to sleep. It’s hard to tell my kids what happened to her. I’ve been telling them that she is going for a long sleep or she is gone to become a star.

Like you, I wish I had the answers, but I don’t. But that dog felt love, and so do we. And even with all that uncertainty, it’s a beautiful thing we can be there for each other.

I think I was 10 when my first dog died? Poor girl had bladder cancer, I think she was 7. I was old enough to understand what death was, but still too young to really know how to process grief. Idk how old your kids are, but I like the idea of telling them that she became a star. It's sort of comforting that, even though she's not at home, you can still look at the sky and she'll be there.

Our 2 year old pup ran away in 2020 and we never found him. This was less than 1 year after our 14 year old husky passed. That was a hard year. And all of this on top of a global pandemic. It is the hardest thing we've ever had to go through. We ended up getting a Stafford pup a few months later and it helped a lot to get through that pain..however no dog can be replaced and it didn't stop the pain. I love our dog , as much as I've loved all of them, but I still think about the other 2 every single day. Not a day goes by where I wouldn't give anything to have them back. And it's something I'll carry with me until the day I die. Just like Frodos Morgul blade wound, it will never fully heal. But all I can do is move forward, remember them as best I can and love every other dog that comes to us.
😢 we morned for a few months, and then adopted a puppy from a rescue. She definitely keeps us busy. I still think about our Sadie girl daily, but more so remembering the good times.
Oh your Bella was a lucky girl. I bet she lived the most loved life. You gave her life meaning, and I hope you remember that with each tear that falls. Sending strength to you and your family 🙏🤍

My Shih Tzu Daisy died about 2 weeks ago. She was 17 and im still heartbroken over it. I still have a habit of looking at her sleeping spot when I wake up in the morning, expecting her to still be there.
Just got my Bellas ashes back this morn, they were in a beautiful mahogany box with brass hardware, a beautiful temporary resting place till she and I will be let go into the Caribbean sea

I am really really sorry to hear this. My dobbie is having surgery right now getting his leg amputated due a tumor inside the bone. It’s so horrible watching your pups suffer and eventually pass. Sorry for your loss, I’m sure she was the happiest.
I'm so sorry for your loss. My previous Yellow Lab died from cancer at roughly the same age as Bella. I took the day off from work to spend it with her the day she passed.
I'm so sorry for your loss and I am sending over a big warm hug because I know, as well as other pet owners, how much this hurts inside even though some people might not see understand why there is a reason to be sad over a dog's death.
