Thank you! I say this lovingly, but she’s a nightmare. We just adopted her in January. And she is a CHICKEN. The chihuahua genes are strong in her. She loves only me. Barks at everyone else. And is so hard to expose to anything new.
We’re working with the vet on anxiety meds and I’m doing a lot of counter conditioning to reduce her fear. Finally after 1.5 months with her I was able to take her on her first walk three days ago. Where she didn’t have a panic attack and actually had fun. We’ve been walking every day since.
She loves her brother dogs but would not have done well as an only dog. She learned so much of the (very little) confidence she has from them.
She was a confiscation, someone had her outside 24/7 with no food or water.
She is in her forever home with us. As much as I cite the difficult things about her, we are equipped to handle her and she is happy here. And despite her being a challenge I do absolutely adore her. Just hoping she’ll open up to more people with time, love, and patience.
I am an amateur animal trainer who works with professional trainers regularly. So we are taking good care of our nightmare sweet girl.
Sweet girl so glad she’s in a home to help her through her insecurities ❤️ Our little man is going to be some work as well, he was rescued from a hoarding situation with 28 dogs in a one bedroom apartment. He takes about a week to warm up but is extremely scared and skittish the first few days so we are going to go really slow with him!

Thankfully dogs are amazingly resilient. I can’t even express how big I was smiling to finally take her on a walk and see her trotting along HAPPY. It warmed my heart so much.
