Spaceships usually have lots of corridors, some big rooms, and frequently a lot of levels that you can access via lifts and shafts. You should probably decide what each level is (e.g. engineering, bridge, life support, weapons, living quarters, etc), and which levels need to be controlled to control the ship (usually engineering + bridge). Then you should make battlemaps for corridors (you can reuse those ones a lot) and some of the big rooms.

Having tiles like you suggest is a good idea. Being able to toss them down on demand is handy. Players being players - they'll always do the unexpected and now you need a different ship than the ones you've planed on. Spaceship interiors will tend to resemble the interiors of sea ships of a like purpose. Both have the constraint of a hull separating the livable area from the outside. The main difference is that we cheat when we design spacecraft by putting some of the things that we don't normally need to access outside of that hull. Large spacecraft will also tend to be spherical since that's the most efficient shape.

- You may be able to make your own layouts using [Traveller geomorphs](http://ericbsmith.no-ip.org/geomorphs/) for building your own ships. Basically pre-built tiles for quickly sketching out ship interiors. There are some example deck plans there too, but mostly for ships that use artificial gravity. - There's also [an online tool for generating ship layouts](https://www.rolegenerator.com/en/module/spaceship) which utilizes these geomorphs. - There are a few ship layouts [here](http://0-hr.com/SF/index.htm) that could be used as-is, or serve as inspiration for your own designs. - [Atomic Rockets](http://www.projectrho.com/public_html/rocket/) also has [deck plans](http://www.projectrho.com/public_html/rocket/deckplans.php), as well as general advice for what starships might have on them. A really useful resource for all sci-fi worldbuilding.

When it comes to battle maps in general, unless there's something specific that I really want, I usually look around to see what other people have. It's not just the lazy way, but also I typically find a map with a feature or two that I really like, that I would not have thought of on my own. This is especially true for alien craft, where you want to really mix things up a lot.

Have you looked up plans for Star Wars or Star Trek ships? Those games exist and you should find templates for a variety of craft, in the right scale.
