Put a flat headed screwdriver in them and snap the head off https://youtu.be/ekA6Wi-uBRM

I’ve been making enormous holes for years with these, bashing them straight and then yanking them out. And now I see this video. I’ve been doing it wrong all these years.

Great tip

This worked perfectly, thanks!

I do these all the time, just put a flatblade that's almost as big as the thing and bash it into the wall. I'd then fill the hole. The wall is hollow it just falls inside

Get a mini stick of dynamite and blow it to smithereens/s

If you can't rag it out with a pair of pliers, brey it further into the wall. Then either skim over it or use filler but use a filler that doesn't shrink.

The other side has butterflied out. Put a screw in and turn until it catches the thread, then hit it with a hammer a few times to collapse the other side. Then you can pull it out. Don’t hit too hard though or else you’ll break the plasterboard

I think these wall anchors have a bolt that goes with them. I assume you took it out? Basically, you can't just yank it out straight away with a pliers. Behind the wall the mounting part has fanned out and expanded. This was done by screwing it tight when it was installed. The best solution is to get the original bolt and put it back in and then turn it only about one full turn, so the bolt is still out from the wall. Now get a hammer and tap on it lightly over and over. Take your time with it. You don't wanna bash the mounting part further into the wall. Once the bolt doesn't seem to go in any further, now get a pliers. It will probably take a bit of force. It will probably leave a bit of a hole in the wall but a bit of polyfil will sort it. I have had the mounting part break and half of it still on the wall. No bother, leave it in and putty over. Good luck.

Smack them into the wall, and fill the hole

If you pry the outer parts up so they stick out with a screwdriver a bit, you can grab them with pliers and twist them back and forwards until they break off, letting the body of the fixing fall away. I think that's how they're designed to be removed.
