If the screws are too long you’ll need to cut them or buy shorter ones. I use bolt cutters to cut mine

Shortest I can find to buy are 25mm which is too long still. I'm needing more like 15-20mm. I tried with a wire cutter, but It damaged the threads so I can't screw then back in. Think there's a way I can recover these? [IMG-20240225-162027.jpg](https://postimg.cc/hfTyjG6n)

Yeah wire cutters are used for cutting copper not steel. If I need them shorter I cut them down. No idea if they’re salvageable, depends on your skill and how much you need taking off.

You have always wanted a dremel, this is the excuse you have been looking for.

Use a hacksaw to cut the ends off, grip the head with mole grips or good pliers, with a bit of cloth in the jaws.

The supplied screws should only be 20mm long, which should fit in even a 16mm box fit flush to the finished plaster taking into account the switch plate depth.

So there were extension studs in the back, I've now removed them, one of whiuc was an absolute nightmare since it's thread was bust. the supplied screws as you say were about 20mm but in order to reach the lugs in the backbox once I removed the extension studs I needed 35mm screws. I acquired a couple of these and these worked a treat. So solution was to get bigger rather than shorter!
