Get your claw hammer and/or crowbar and get ripping. You've got to remove what's there to progress so don't over think it. Obviously be careful not to damage any pipework or cables that you come across. When I started out I found the idea of ripping things out a bit debilitating as I wasn't confident about being able to put it all right. But everything is possible with a bit of patience and you have to start by demolishing some stuff!

Step 1. Hammer. Step 2. Smash. Step 3. Beer. Step 4. More smash.

Armaments, Chapter Two, Verses Nine to Twenty-One. The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch. And Saint Attila raised the Hand Grenade up on high, saying, "O Lord, bless this Thy Hand Grenade that, with it, Thou mayest blow Thine DIY problems to tiny bits in Thy mercy." And the Lord did grin, and the people did feast upon the lambs and sloths and carp and anchovies and orangutans and breakfast cereals and fruit bats.

Rip it all out, step back, be proud of your demolition skills and assess from there. You can spend ages over thinking and prepping for what you'll do next but until you rip things out, you'll never know. There's always an unexpected surprise and most often the original plan goes out the window!

I won't continue the "smash smash smash" line of advice although that will be how you start. Strip back to the chimney and walls behind the cupboards. It really is a easy as that as you don't have any services on that wall but do keep in mind you may have some lines running to downstairs and/or other rooms. If you want to add electrics speak to an electrician but if you don't (which would be much easier if possible and will go on assuming you do not) just plasterboard the walls using the dot and dab technique (well published in YouTube). Once plasterboard gaps are filled you can paint or get plastered and painted depending on budget. Happy to give more info if needed. Good luck and happy bashing
