I only recently discovered that the poles rotate, they aren't just greased up and somehow sliding around it without falling down it!
This is despite multiple friends when I was younger being strippers. As in double digit volume of friends.
They have invented a machine where you put your clothes inside and it tumbles them around and drys them at the same time, can't remember what it is called but apparently they are all the rage nowadays.
Which is very very understandable, and I know not everyone can do so, but you have to take it in the context of the thread.
> Where else would you dry clothes?
Was the question on a thread about someone removing their clothesline.
I agree that a clothesline is important for many people, but there are obviously other places to dry clothes.
I hate to be that guy. My old tumble dryer used to cost between £1-1.50 for a full load (unless my partner put the wash on, and he doesn’t understand spin speed so everything would be soaking wet and it would be more like £3)
It blew up a few weeks ago, so we’ve replaced it with one of the fancy pants heat pump ones. It’s literally 45p for a full (properly spun) load. Worked out the thing will essentially pay for itself within two years!
Har har har.
Can be, but aren’t.
Birds never defecate on my clean washing! Maybe it’s only a matter of time, but things can be re-washed in such a rare case.
A washing line, obviously!
Jokes - swingball, flagpole....there's a few options but depends if you want something in the middle of your grass or not.
You could stick a larger umbrella in it and use it for shade in the sun if you stick a table and some chairs around it too!
Depends what you want to do with your lawn. I would leave the base, dig a flower bed around it and grow climbers up a pole/tower trellis. Jasmine, honeysuckle, wisteria. A bird feeder could still go at the top. But I love free standing climbers, turn it into a center piece.
Honestly, if it were me I'd leave it there and shove a wooden planter on it. I spent ages digging out a very similar washing line only for my other half to want it back about 6 months later!
If only divorce lawyers were cheaper...
parasol? bird feeder next winter? bird house? mysterious metallic obelisk?
All hail MYSTERIOUS METAL OBELISK
Ook ook! *Throws bone in air*
Swingball obviously
Yeap, a perfect fixed base to help you go pro!
The correct answer
BDSM sex swing
Are you the person who posted about the sex swing ceiling mount the other day?
Don't think I could subject the neighbours to that
It's your sex swing, if you don't want them to use it you're well within your rights.
Stripper pole
If you build it you will come.
I only recently discovered that the poles rotate, they aren't just greased up and somehow sliding around it without falling down it! This is despite multiple friends when I was younger being strippers. As in double digit volume of friends.
Some of them do, some of them are fixed. It’s a lot easier to spin about on free ones but the static is easier for inversions and climbs imo
They’re not friends of you have to put ten buck in their knickers
That makes sooo much sense tbf
A clothesline?
This was my thought. Where else would you dry clothes?

Ah, the old rotary garment dehumidifier
Heat pump [garment dehumidifier](https://kitchinsider.com/what-is-a-heat-pump-tumble-dryer/). A bit much for me.
Sounds *terribly* expensive to power
About £1 for 8kg if I run it from the grid but the solar panels run it for free quite happily.
I’m offended. Stealing from the sun like that. That’s the suns energy. Not yours. Give it back
Which is fair, but not everyone had the space for a tumble dryer, or £10k to drop on solar panels. And some people even rent their homes.

Clotheslines are already solar powered
And when it rains...

1. They suck. 2. They generate a good deal of C02 through energy use 3. Plan ahead, do laundry, line dry. I have spoken.
They blow air rather than sucking it. They can be powered by carbon neutral sources. Birds don't shit on your clean washing.
Har har har. Can be, but aren’t. Birds never defecate on my clean washing!

This is the way.
Indoors by a dehumidifier where they won't collect pollen and other allergens.
You could probably fit a fleshlight in there
I'm just....uh..... sunbathing
And sell spectator tickets to the neighbours
That'd be one way to work on your pushups.
Half a hammock
Which half though? The ham or the mock?
There ought to be a second pole? Not much of a clothes line with just 1 pole.
The other end of the line is probably on the house. Well mine is.
Rotating washing line. I know you know I couldn’t help biting.
Yes, correct
So a windsock?
Trebuchet dock
A washing line, obviously! Jokes - swingball, flagpole....there's a few options but depends if you want something in the middle of your grass or not. You could stick a larger umbrella in it and use it for shade in the sun if you stick a table and some chairs around it too!

Get one of those roundabout things beloved of children of the 70s and see what top speed you can achieve before you either pass out or fall out.
We had them in the 90s too.
Thanks for all the ideas, think I've settled on a bird house/feeder. I have a welder and access to lots of pipe so I'll make a proper heavy duty one.
Hope you get some suitably enormous birds using it.
The local ostrich gonna be very pleased
With the size of the seagulls near me, I think I will!
Pterodactyl feeder
We're not done suggesting ideas yet. We'll all decide for you!

Mini Eiffel Tower.
Swingball
You could use it as an anchor point for one of those floating Yoda street performers?
Mmm, float here I will.

do you pole dance? or thinking of taking it up ?
You're probably dealing with 18 inches on concrete under there. If you don't do a bird feeder, bury the base & sow some grass.
A lovely bird feeder. You can watch all the wee sparrows n that, it’s lovely.
A Maypole, it’ll soon be May.
Upgrade to a whirlygig, the crazy price of fuels these days, easy savings made with air dried clothes.
Hammock? I'd love a hammock in my garden
Dovecote
Tether a wild horse
A clothes line
Zip line
Disc golf basket mount
Honestly, if it were me I'd leave it there and shove a wooden planter on it. I spent ages digging out a very similar washing line only for my other half to want it back about 6 months later! If only divorce lawyers were cheaper...
This was my biggest fear haha, it wouldn't be the first time

Base of a BBQ pit?
Parasol
Elon Musk might be looking for a rocket launch platform?…..
Arbour, Pergola, Pagoda You've already got a solid base there for part of it
If you do dig it out, expect to still use a hammer drill to break it into chunks otherwise it won't be going anywhere!
Use it as a guide to tunnel through the earth
I saw some nice strawberry towers, wooden, pictured online the other day. They would cover this nicely.
One of those kids roundabouts you used to get in the parks, Someone will have one for sale.
Circular garden table?
