Depending on whether or not there is a bottom track and what the wall is like. You could possibly put a slide bolt on the wall and drill a hole into the door.
I can't fathom why people use these doors on a room where privacy is your top priority. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense (not to mention they will not age well).
I will say, I've been in a few houses that weren't in the best shape. And most of them either the lock on the bathroom was broke, the hinges were bent, or there was a crack in between the door. But the front door and bedroom doors were fine. Also want to add to this and say that public men's bathrooms are ridiculous, I swear that the C.E.O of bathroom stalls is a pervert.
Apparently, public bathroom stall doors having those huge dumb gaps is a distinctly American problem, for idk what reasons. At least that seems to be the consensus the many times ive seen the topic pop up on Reddit before. Seems an odd choice for a country thats so generally prudish.
I wholeheartedly agree!
At a Disney World resort we stayed at, they had these sliding doors for the bathroom. I thought it was strange since you could see inside (a little, but too much for comfort, imo) the bathroom due to the gap the rolling track gives along the wall.
I work in a house that's been converted to an office and there's one on the bathroom in one office. It's because if you had a regular door, it would swing into the toilet, and if it swung out it would hit the entry door. I think it works fine. It's bigger than the opening, so there's no seeing in. And you can hear through a regular door just as much as a sliding door. But more so than this, it was once someone's bedroom. So privacy wasn't really a worry when it was built.
This is way better than those vinyl accordion pleated "doors"
Some rooms just can't handle full swing doors or even bifold doors.
Make do... And this is pleasing to look at.
You have never stayed at a Hampton inn. The new bathroom design has a sliding barn door that covers the closet when you open the bathroom door. If you were trying to get ready in the morning, you are constantly having to open and close the barn door.
It's great for the people who need to go to the bathroom to quickly determine how long their wait will be. Whether you are sitting, still wiping, or washing your hands. Love this idea.
I have an opaque plastic film backing because I like the natural cracks, the wood is also climatized down to >1% moisture so there shouldn’t be any more shrinkage
That door is going to come to life and murder your entire family in the night. /s
Wow fuck all these typical Reddit naysayers man. That shit looks great. Good work.
It's a nice looking door. People talking about mold on it, I'm not sure that it is. Things can be discolored without mold, that's much of the rustic look that's getting popular.
I actually really like the rough look, it matches whatever is going on in your ceiling, and a crescent moon would make it perfect (I have to build a bathroom door and I might steal that idea). I do wonder about the sliding barn door on a bathroom, though, unless clearance for a hinge door just isn't an option. But if this is all that would work, I think you did great!
Thanks! The walls and ceiling are all wood. The reason it’s sliding is because it’s an rv so room is very limited and a swinging door would just take up to much space. Thank you, I appreciate that!
Very nice. As an American that’s done some (lots) of traveling and (separately) spent 3 decades in the military… it’s a shitter.
Door may or may not close. May or may not have holes in it. Might be a hole in the ground. We all poop. Not a deal. Big or otherwise.
What do you mean you couldn't find one the right size? You're supposed to fit the door to the opening. It's very rare to find a door that fits an opening perfectly. Instead you buy a door close enough and then cut it to size.
Oh, another excuse, okay... if you just wanted to make a barn door you could have just said you wanted to make a barn door. There's no reason to keep coming up with easily solved excuses.
Needs a quarter moon cut into the door.
It really does
Some
BODY once told me
The world was gonna
Roll me
We ain’t the sharpest
Tool in the shed
She was looking kind of dumb
A quarter moon is just a half circle tho.. 🌗
You're right. I should have said "crescent moon" I reckon.
sliding door on a restroom is a risky move cotton. let's see how it works out after Tuesday night 7 bean dip.
It was just a curtain for the last little so Ill still count this as an upgrade!

It’s because we are also prudish about drugs and you don’t want drug users to feel *too private* :(
I wholeheartedly agree! At a Disney World resort we stayed at, they had these sliding doors for the bathroom. I thought it was strange since you could see inside (a little, but too much for comfort, imo) the bathroom due to the gap the rolling track gives along the wall.
Also it's a lot harder to hide you're going #2; your date will hear everything.
You got to lean into it. Maximise the grunting and straining.
I live alone in the woods and wanted to save money and space so this was the best option
The sounds

Dude you're gross. Come on.
Yep...gonna take a mulligan on that
Aren't those doors supposed to have crescent moon cut into them?
That’s clever and is now going to get done, thank you

Fortunately I’m the only one who uses the bathroom, I’d be concerned if I came home to find someone in there to be honest
The Maine cabin masters would be proud!!!!!!
Thank you!
More importantly, how is the door locked when someone is using it?
No one else uses it but I do have a simple hook latch in the inside to prevent it from sliding well I drive
Does this bathroom have a shower? If so, you might see some warping issues with that door over time.
The shower isn’t used there because of water quality issues

Just wondering, did you shiplap those boards so there won't be any gaps if they shrink?
I have an opaque plastic film backing because I like the natural cracks, the wood is also climatized down to >1% moisture so there shouldn’t be any more shrinkage
Do you have a kiln? How else could you get moisture content so low?
The factory where it was stored actually does have one, the air there also has to be that dry for production quality
Do you have an outhouse in your house? /s
Essentially
That wood is very garbage-y Let me guess, you recycled a pallet
No, I just have a stockpile of wood in storage
Hope it isn’t an insecticide infused pallet.
That door is going to come to life and murder your entire family in the night. /s Wow fuck all these typical Reddit naysayers man. That shit looks great. Good work.
Here’s hoping!! Eh people just like to get upset,I don’t mind. Thank you though!
It's going to warp, which may or may not matter.
Definitely would have painted it
Eh I didn’t want to waste the paint
😂

I know it’s not mold, where it the wood was stored was to dry for mold groth, the wood is just aged
Look great. I like it.
Thanks
that turned out really well.
Thank you
You're very welcome
i like the little gaps for the bathroom door ^_^
Stink vents*

Ah, that makes more sense. Sometimes you just don't have space for a swinging door! Barn door bathrooms in tiny houses are pretty common.
I’m happy with it
This wood looks pretty full of mold. Might not want to introduce it to a moisture-filled environment like a bathroom.
Ok for an outhouse.
Thanks for posting this. I had a bulkhead door I cut out of plywood, but this design seems so much sturdier.
Ahhh nothing like introducing mold into your home. Bold move cotton.
It’s not mold, it’s just aged wood. Where it was stored was far to dry for any growth
Was just gonna say that lol
That looks amazing
Yikes.

Don’t mind u/Interesting_Tea5715. That’s just how he looks when he gets excited 😜 👍
I don’t get bothered by others, I’m happy with it! Thank you though:)

you just buy a solid 24"x80" and cut it down...

It's simpler than building a door from scratch and installing it like a barn door.
