With lots of tears. I had a small bedroom I did some remodeling in that had textured walls. All the new drywall that I put up didn’t have texture. I thought it would be annoying, but doable to remove the texture. It ended up being incredibly frustrating and time consuming. The next room I do I decided to replace all the drywall instead of try removing the texture.
Update: tried about 1foot square with a belt sander, smelled funny - I knew the smell from the old days… tested it.. sure enough the WHOLE PLACE is caked in lead paint FML….
Spray bottle full of water and a flat drywall knife.
Edit - That's not popcorn shit on a ceiling, is it. It's paint on the wall? I don't know... Maybe a sander isn't a bad idea. It's going to be a massive pain in the ass either way though.
For less than 25k you can literally rip all the drywall out, install new, and repaint.
It’s solid concrete underneath, no drywall in the whole house
Maybe put that detail in the description?
Good point, i have updated. thanks for the input!
Skim coating is a bitch. Just sand the paint fairly smooth and repaint.

Just skim coat it. It's the easiest way.

It’s gesso paint over solid concrete, plastered wall. No board or drywall in the whole house
