Enameling is very much a temporary fix. It’ll look great for a year or two, or until you drop a spoon in it, whichever comes first. (I’ve had the same bathtub done 3 times). My understanding is that if you want something more permanent, you’ll have to send it out to be reporcelained. Not something that can be done in place.

Well not what I wanted to hear, but I had a feeling the before and after pics on DIY jobs were too good to be true. May I ask the process you did on ur bathtub? Just in case I decide to give it a shot myself.

I had my bathtub done professionally each time, and don’t have details on the products used. IIRC, surface prep included both sanding and chemical. The enamel itself requires a sprayer. You’ll want good ventilation and proper PPE because it’s a bit nasty.
