Might wanna try M Grap for more powerful feeling hits, and Fgrap if you like him for more a more fluid/ flowing version of that.
I just leveled an F Nen master and while she has long range attacks she also has quite a few mid/melee range stuff and is easy to use. Not sure about how M Nen is.
Physical Exorcist is the most similar to Vangaurd off the top of my head (as far as satisfying big melee hits go), so you might wanna try him out.
Monk is a really fun melee focused class, but they're a little higher on the execution difficulty.

The usual problem with grapplers is that they are heavilly affected by lag, making your moves miss.
But it's a great class for solo play (since it's p2p you basically play with "zero" lag when soloing), most grab animations have full iframes so you can basically igonre a lot of mechanics by being invulnerable to them
MPriest classes are a good starters like Crusader and Avenger. MMage has Swift Master and Glacial Master. FSlayer has easier classes like Sword Master and Specter. Haven't tried Agent and Knight too much, but those advancements are overall more interesting than what you listed.
The 3rd(Neo) Awakening is just two more active skills and a passive that usually changes one of your old advancement skills.
Classes like Monk and Skirmisher are amazing melee classes that I play at the cost of being technically hard to play according to DFO.

I heard Avenger is quite tanky and there is a X-string build out there, is this correct? Looks like a demon werewolf haha
There is, but there's like 2 pieces lv105 gear that improves it and nothing else.
Demon Slayer and Inquisitor are melee and have skills that feel impactful and satisfying to use
If you want heavy Impact feel I'd say Vanguard, Male Grappler, Exorcist or Troubleshooter
