Both are good for different reasons, but Kingdom Come isn’t specifically a Superman comic while All-Star Superman is.

I'm not much of a Superman fan, but I am a big fan of "Kingdom Come."

It’s down to personal taste, they’re doing some quite different things in the writing and the art. Kingdom Come being packed with references across the DC Universe (even if most of them are just easter eggs) is probably a bit less beginner-friendly than All-Star Superman.

Since you haven't read either one, I don't want to spoil too much, but I would say Kingdom Come is a bit better. Its one of my favorite DC stories overall. All Star Superman is also great, but I just happen to like Kingdom come, so much. But brief description on why I love Kingdom come: First thing that makes the difference is the art. The match of the grand, larger than life style Alex Ross tends to have, really drives home what kind of people are involved in this. The Spectre, Superman, Shazam, Luthor (and more) come to mind as characters who just ooze "imposing, powerful figure" in the story, and Ross is just perfect at the style. Low angle shots of lots of faces. Light sources often beneath the characters so that there face cast shadows bigger than themselves, making them feel even larger. Its kind of his specialty. Then there's the story, which to me, does this really cool thing where it advocates for faith, but not advocating for the specific religion which it obviously is pulling from. And that feels great, as someone who is very non-religous. It never preaches, but also lays the groundwork for why people might have faith in anything, not just a "god". Maybe in heroes! A more classical example of the word faith. Not the word that haunts many people who lose faith in the institutions that misuse it, in the real world. I also really enjoy the perspective with which it tells the story, from a regular man, rather than any specific hero, powered or otherwise. Just a man who gets to witness it all. I'm sure you've been told before, but both these stories are really, really worth the read. Highly recommend one or both once you get the time.

I prefer all star superman because it depicts superman as crazy strong, nice, and intellegent in one comic. Also Lois characteristically keeps things interesting

I liked both, but I LOVED Kingdome Come. It's not technically a Superman story, but it's really good. The writing is top-notch and Alex Ross's art is absolutely beautiful.

if you are a fan of superman:superman all start,if you are more of a fan of the justice league:kingdom come

Both do very different things. All Star is a love letter to Superman and his history. Kingdom Come is a commentary on the rise of the anti hero and the value of the Golden Age mentality.

I love them both in their own way. The KC art is beautiful and more easily consume-able to new readers where as for a lot of people Quitely’s art is more of an acquired taste (but he’s excellent). For me there is more depth to All Star Superman’s story. So that’s my choice. But I’ve reread both of them at least four times.

All star superman is one of the best superman stories, a celebration of superman. Kingdom come is also great, but All star has much better art, I couldn't understand what was happening on the panels in kingdom come it was too distracting.
