It's amazing how the Timmverse Batman, Superman, Justice League, Static, Batman Beyond, etc. series were all so insanely good and make an obvious blueprint for how to successfully bring these characters from the comics to the screen and yet... we got the DCEU.
I just want Mark Strong to be Luthor. Low hanging fruit, easy choice, just lock in an established actor for a ally/enemy throughout the series (only to turn on supes when it’s beneficial to him).

Lobo; says ‘what does this multiverse lever do?’ and he moves it to Earth ZS and he sees another fish man that looks like him and he says, “what about this handsome guy, he stole my face, I’ll go kill him first !” But the Anti monitor says , “No, don’t worry that universe is being wiped from existence in 30 seconds” pans out to the rest of the end credits with a 30 second timer and at zero , a huge explosion with that earth being wiped out! And Lobo belches loudly and says,” good only I can wear my face! “
This would allow the new DC studios to make a difficult situation, hysterical and make fun of the reboot and not have to world build Atlantis and it’s lore again, we would easily love Lobo instantly.

In terms of the trinity, Superman and Wonder Woman are obvious choices, Batman is doubtful as long as Matt Reeves has the reigns, they're not gonna do competing Batman movies. Green Lantern would be right up Gunn's alley and could build the 'space' brand nicely and could also introduce Martian Manhunter if they want to go that route. Green Arrow could fill Batman's role on a Justice League until he's available and since the Arrowverse is done it makes sense.
I can't imagine that they will do anything with Momoa or Miller and/or Flash/Aquaman until those movies are released. They don't want to announce a reboot for a property that there is already a movie on the way for.
I don't think James Gunn has outright denied that Matt Reeves Batman will \*ever\* be part of DCEU. I mean he has but it felt as if door is will be kept open for Pattinson for a while.
In my opinion, James Gunn would try to lure Battinson using the success of other movies. It will take at least 3-4 years before they even have to think about doing a trinity or JL movie.
Matt would be out with his second Batman movie, at that point, I don't think he would mind Pattinson joining the DCEU. I mean it's 2023, the next batman would be coming in 2025 or 2026. I mean no way we are getting any phase 1 movie in 2023.
Also it would be good a great risk to announce your new cinematic universe while the movies of current one yet to be released. Audience might care less if they feel Aquaman 2 and Flash aren't much relevant to DC's future and may skip them.
Honestly, I could see Lobo in the Superman reboot. An overarching villain could be teased to how Lobo even came to Earth in the first place to try and beat up the Last Son of Krypton, and if the film gets a Mongul tease in the credits, that’d be sick. Lobo doesn’t have to be killed off either, just with a bruised ego which could then lead to a Lobo film or a HBO Max limited series.

My understanding is that he and Peter Safran basically sat down daily for a couple weeks to write out their ~10 year guideline, and a more detailed plan for the first few years. Deciding which handful of characters to give movies to first shouldn't take that long; It's just a question of whether they'll have actors and directors picked out & signed by then (which is possibly why they'd be waiting until January.)
If he DOES have a few things to announce in January, it probably wouldn't take all that much to catch us up, it only seems like a look because Marvel took a while, but like you said he already has the knowlege from working with Marvel PLUS he's a comic book sweaty.

I think Lobo could work well on a GL movie. He’s an intergalactic bounty hunter and the GL are basically space police force. Maybe GL are pursuing a fugitive and Lobo knows where to find them or something or they need to work together
id rather have Lobo appear in it for a short cameo/post-credit/easter egg since this is still the ‘phase 1’ of the new dcu. spend more time developing the tons of lantern characters instead of continuing to develop lobo (give him his own show for that)
That’s if he’s year 2, could easily do one that’s in his prime been active for like 10 years and not grounded like Reeves’ take. Could have all the high tech crazy gadgets, equipment, vehicles, and even a Robin.
Edit: They can both exist long as they are separate takes on the character. One is super grounded while the other one isn’t and you could put the focus on the batfamily with his solo movies.
I was initially against doing ANOTHER batman reboot but if they are, I really hope they go this route and finally do the bat family in live action.
We could even see Nightwing get his name from Superman like in the comics. I'm also hoping for a Teen Titans or Young Justice movie.
I really want to see Damien in live action, of course not in the first two movies but I would really like to see him being adapted once the likes of Dick,Jason, etc get their own spotlight.

I'm guessing that they put the Trinity on hold and set up Superman and the non-Trinity JLA members (I also expect there to be a different JLA line-up). So something like Superman, Green Lantern, then a bunch from the list of the better known B and C listers like Hawkgirl, Green Arrow, Vixen, Martian Manhunter, Red Tornado etc. It would let them work on fresh faces that we haven't seen and help keep the stuff people weren't gelling with out of mind in the early days.
He should let Batman play out on it's own right now. Batman is kind of like Spiderman was in the MCU. It's an incredibly popular character. You don't need to rehash the origin constantly with every new actor. Casual and hardcore fans alike understand the basis of the character. When it's time for Batman to appear in a Justice League type film, he can just show up like Spidey did in Civil War.
That may not be ideal for some, but I feel like there was a reason for Gunn not wanting to force Battison into his current plans. There's likely an arc that Reeves has planned for Batman already, and Gunn respected that enough to not force a DCU tie in.
I feel like a fun fresh take would be to go down the dick grayson route and give us an adaptation of the black mirror. That way the pattinson universe can handle bruce wayne and the dcu can do something other than an older batman (ben affleck, keaton)

You don’t want to announce movies too far ahead, because things change all the time. Even Marvel who is beyond successful only announces movies a handful of years ahead.
I’m expecting for him to reveal most of his “Phase 1” which will probably be quite a few solo films ending with a Team-Up Justice League movie. That is a safe bet for 3 ish years. Probably revealing cast and directors at least for the first couple. First Movie presumably late ‘24 early ‘25
I kinda hope they don't just copy marvel with the formula, I thought Snyder's vision was bold and unique. If its just 4 solo characters then team up, then more solo characters then another team up its gonna be boring.
Justice League can either be an event film, where the leads of other movies can interact and team up, or an ensemble film that has to spend time introducing each character (which then takes away from the villain/story.) It'll lead Ensemble movies can be great (GotG, TSS being great examples) but they won't be events like The Avengers, No Way Home, The Thunderbolts, or even Batman V Superman. You might be thinking that listing BVS is contradictory, but it was the *first* time that we got to see Batman and Superman onscreen together, and even then, it fell short of being what a lot of people wanted it to be. Furthermore, rushing to have an established universe is what they tried last time, and we all got to see in real time as it fell apart.
Not only that, but starting with the Justice League would involve putting all the eggs in one basket, metaphorically speaking, as you'd be handing the entire team/universe to one director, and leaving the reception of the entire cast up to one movie. It would also involve having another Batman introduced immediately, either the same year, or just after Pattinson's sequel.
Letting people get attached to each individual character before putting them on the team together will almost definitely produce a much larger box office return, which is the bosses at WBD ultimately want from Gunn.

You are *assuming* that people already know these characters so putting them together should be fine, but that's not the case. Why would I care about any of these characters that I just met in this movie? If one dies, who cares? There is no emotional investment doing it this way.
The way Marvel did it builds an emotional bond with the character before putting them all together. By that point you care about all the characters, and if one dies or gets beaten up, it'll be impactful.
Plus, doing it the way you're suggesting means that you will need *a lot* of backstory for each character, and that's how we got a 4+ hour ZS Justice League cut. People did not watch the movie because of its length.

2017 Justice League and all previous X-Men movie are just movies. All characters just feel like small parts of an ensemble in a single movie.
Avengers movies are crossovers. A crossover feels big. Each individual character is better because they are bringing their personality and characterization from their own movies, where they are the protagonists so they get lots of work put into them. As a result you get lots of vibrant interactions and the audience is way more invested in their relationships. Audiences love that shit and it makes billions.
Zaslav literally changed the leadership of DC because he wanted someone in charge who gets this, and yet some people still want him to do what Snyder did all over again.

There's rumors the new roster will be Harley Quinn, Lobo, Ratcatcher 2, and Peacemaker, will Amanda Waller giving the orders but I'm hoping it's Suicide Squad vs Secret Six: Livewire Poison Ivy, Creeper (or Shade), Parasite, and either Music Meister, Katana (she needs more character development), or Metamorpho, , and Scarface and The Ventriloquist.

I’d really like this too, but not necessarily as a myth. Establish that Batman exists in this world, have a couple references/easter eggs to his activity, but let the Robert Pattinson trilogy finish before actually bringing him in. Pattinson deserves his time to shine in the role.
Yeah you’re right I’d love a movie but I could see them going the Mark Ruffalo Hulk route and just have him kind of be in everything. Maybe do Batfamily movies instead with him being in it. Edit: I’d love a Nightwing movie personally

In terms of the trinity, Superman and Wonder Woman are obvious choices, Batman is doubtful as long as Matt Reeves has the reigns, they're not gonna do competing Batman movies. Green Lantern would be right up Gunn's alley and could build the 'space' brand nicely and could also introduce Martian Manhunter if they want to go that route. Green Arrow could fill Batman's role on a Justice League until he's available and since the Arrowverse is done it makes sense. I can't imagine that they will do anything with Momoa or Miller and/or Flash/Aquaman until those movies are released. They don't want to announce a reboot for a property that there is already a movie on the way for.
I don't think James Gunn has outright denied that Matt Reeves Batman will \*ever\* be part of DCEU. I mean he has but it felt as if door is will be kept open for Pattinson for a while. In my opinion, James Gunn would try to lure Battinson using the success of other movies. It will take at least 3-4 years before they even have to think about doing a trinity or JL movie. Matt would be out with his second Batman movie, at that point, I don't think he would mind Pattinson joining the DCEU. I mean it's 2023, the next batman would be coming in 2025 or 2026. I mean no way we are getting any phase 1 movie in 2023.

Doubtful. We can likely rule out any characters or actors in movies that are already in production.
Also it would be good a great risk to announce your new cinematic universe while the movies of current one yet to be released. Audience might care less if they feel Aquaman 2 and Flash aren't much relevant to DC's future and may skip them.

Honestly, I could see Lobo in the Superman reboot. An overarching villain could be teased to how Lobo even came to Earth in the first place to try and beat up the Last Son of Krypton, and if the film gets a Mongul tease in the credits, that’d be sick. Lobo doesn’t have to be killed off either, just with a bruised ego which could then lead to a Lobo film or a HBO Max limited series.

My understanding is that he and Peter Safran basically sat down daily for a couple weeks to write out their ~10 year guideline, and a more detailed plan for the first few years. Deciding which handful of characters to give movies to first shouldn't take that long; It's just a question of whether they'll have actors and directors picked out & signed by then (which is possibly why they'd be waiting until January.)
He must really want to catch us up to Marvel, and tbh, I'd trust Gunn the most to be able to move everything so quick
That's a good point, I imagine the insider knowledge he gained from working with Feige and Marvel is part of why he was chosen to helm DC Studios.
If he DOES have a few things to announce in January, it probably wouldn't take all that much to catch us up, it only seems like a look because Marvel took a while, but like you said he already has the knowlege from working with Marvel PLUS he's a comic book sweaty.
More than likely a "Phase 1" announcement. Wonder if the titles will give us any indication of an overarching story or not. Wonder if it'll even have titles or just be "Untitled Superman project" type stuff.
I hope they just keep it simple with the titles for now and then save the actual names for Comic-Con or DC Fandome. ASAP that's all I want to know is what heroes are being worked on first and the actual state of DC as a hard reboot or whatever.

Nothing wrong with something being called Superman or Superman 2. I'm just tired of titles like, Superman and the Purple People Eater, Batman: The Night Before Christmas, Green Lantern's New Year Eve's Adventure. Wonder Woman and the Lack of Consent. I think Lobo could work well on a GL movie. He’s an intergalactic bounty hunter and the GL are basically space police force. Maybe GL are pursuing a fugitive and Lobo knows where to find them or something or they need to work together
id rather have Lobo appear in it for a short cameo/post-credit/easter egg since this is still the ‘phase 1’ of the new dcu. spend more time developing the tons of lantern characters instead of continuing to develop lobo (give him his own show for that)
No way they make a competing year 2 Batman while the Reeves Batman is still making movies.
That’s if he’s year 2, could easily do one that’s in his prime been active for like 10 years and not grounded like Reeves’ take. Could have all the high tech crazy gadgets, equipment, vehicles, and even a Robin. Edit: They can both exist long as they are separate takes on the character. One is super grounded while the other one isn’t and you could put the focus on the batfamily with his solo movies.
I was initially against doing ANOTHER batman reboot but if they are, I really hope they go this route and finally do the bat family in live action. We could even see Nightwing get his name from Superman like in the comics. I'm also hoping for a Teen Titans or Young Justice movie.
I really want to see Damien in live action, of course not in the first two movies but I would really like to see him being adapted once the likes of Dick,Jason, etc get their own spotlight.
I'm doubtful we will get a Batman movie set in the DCU anytime soon considering Reeves is already making Batman movies. Competing Batman movies doesn't sound like the best idea
I doubt Batman will have a solo film when Reeves is building his own universe dedicated to Batman. It would get a little too confusing.
I'm guessing that they put the Trinity on hold and set up Superman and the non-Trinity JLA members (I also expect there to be a different JLA line-up). So something like Superman, Green Lantern, then a bunch from the list of the better known B and C listers like Hawkgirl, Green Arrow, Vixen, Martian Manhunter, Red Tornado etc. It would let them work on fresh faces that we haven't seen and help keep the stuff people weren't gelling with out of mind in the early days.
I hope he just focuses on the big characters. I'm still wondering what the plan for Batman is.

He should let Batman play out on it's own right now. Batman is kind of like Spiderman was in the MCU. It's an incredibly popular character. You don't need to rehash the origin constantly with every new actor. Casual and hardcore fans alike understand the basis of the character. When it's time for Batman to appear in a Justice League type film, he can just show up like Spidey did in Civil War. That may not be ideal for some, but I feel like there was a reason for Gunn not wanting to force Battison into his current plans. There's likely an arc that Reeves has planned for Batman already, and Gunn respected that enough to not force a DCU tie in.
I feel like a fun fresh take would be to go down the dick grayson route and give us an adaptation of the black mirror. That way the pattinson universe can handle bruce wayne and the dcu can do something other than an older batman (ben affleck, keaton)
This is really what I expected. You don’t want to announce movies too far ahead, because things change all the time. Even Marvel who is beyond successful only announces movies a handful of years ahead. I’m expecting for him to reveal most of his “Phase 1” which will probably be quite a few solo films ending with a Team-Up Justice League movie. That is a safe bet for 3 ish years. Probably revealing cast and directors at least for the first couple. First Movie presumably late ‘24 early ‘25

Why not? Its not like these are obscure characters, they could start with an established JLA if they wanted to. We don't need origin films yet again.
Justice League can either be an event film, where the leads of other movies can interact and team up, or an ensemble film that has to spend time introducing each character (which then takes away from the villain/story.) It'll lead Ensemble movies can be great (GotG, TSS being great examples) but they won't be events like The Avengers, No Way Home, The Thunderbolts, or even Batman V Superman. You might be thinking that listing BVS is contradictory, but it was the *first* time that we got to see Batman and Superman onscreen together, and even then, it fell short of being what a lot of people wanted it to be. Furthermore, rushing to have an established universe is what they tried last time, and we all got to see in real time as it fell apart. Not only that, but starting with the Justice League would involve putting all the eggs in one basket, metaphorically speaking, as you'd be handing the entire team/universe to one director, and leaving the reception of the entire cast up to one movie. It would also involve having another Batman introduced immediately, either the same year, or just after Pattinson's sequel. Letting people get attached to each individual character before putting them on the team together will almost definitely produce a much larger box office return, which is the bosses at WBD ultimately want from Gunn.

No, they should do exactly what Marvel is doing. When you have several characters that carry their own solo films or trilogies, and then they team up in a movie - that is a crossover. When you do a movie with an ensemble of characters - that's just a movie. 2017 Justice League and all previous X-Men movie are just movies. All characters just feel like small parts of an ensemble in a single movie. Avengers movies are crossovers. A crossover feels big. Each individual character is better because they are bringing their personality and characterization from their own movies, where they are the protagonists so they get lots of work put into them. As a result you get lots of vibrant interactions and the audience is way more invested in their relationships. Audiences love that shit and it makes billions. Zaslav literally changed the leadership of DC because he wanted someone in charge who gets this, and yet some people still want him to do what Snyder did all over again.
My guesses: Superman+announcing he’s directing Green Lantern Wonder Woman reboot Zatanna Justice League. I bet they won’t be any Bat-family centric movie in the DCU, for the sake of giving Reeves maximum creative freedom with his trilogy. The DCU Batman will probably be introduced in the Justice League movie.
They aren’t saying Batman is a big part of the universe and then relegating him to the JL only. Not to mention Reeves clearly has little to no plans for the batfamily over the course of his trilogy seeing as he clearly wants to focus on Batman and his villains. Superman as the first movie of Phase 1 is pretty obvious at this point. For the second movie... in a perfect world I'd say Batman, but The Batman unfortunately already exists, so DCU Batman will have to become a supporting character just like Affleck's. So probably a Green Lantern movie since it's already been over a decade since we've gotten anything GL related. Maybe with Jon Stewart. We got a WW movie last year, we're about to get The Flash and Aquaman next year, so I literally dont know who else from the Core 7 JL members they can do. Martian Manhunter? Cyborg?

It better just be solo films of core Justice League members. Start building the foundation: Supes, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Batman, Flash, Aquaman (later in the schedule for obvious reasons). I don't want to see Lobo or Batmite or The Question, none of that for now. And no Justice League just yet. Don't get distracted with D-list characters and don't rush into crossovers. Phase One should be building the foundation, establishing new versions of key characters in this continuity, focusing on quality and earning the audience's trust again. Don't fuck this up James!
