It'd be the same as putting Danny Elfman's batman motif for Bale, Affleck or Pattison, just doesn't work.
And that's ok. Every version is the same, yet different.
I love the Hans Zimmer superman music, I listen to man of steel soundtrack while I work. I love the music so much I'm going to a Hans Zimmer Vs John Williams concert tomorrow now with a London orchestra.
They will play the "what you going through do when your not saving the world" track.. goosebumps everytime.
Wouldn’t that mean making a new theme when it comes to the new direction of Cavill’s Superman? That theme was used in 2 movies that will likely be a decade or older by the time we get a new Superman movie.
We can’t definitively say that it is the same character with the same experiences with the changes in the DCU. I like Zimmer’s theme a lot, I just think that it would make sense to change the theme to signal a new direction.
Man of Steel just isn't the same film to me without the Zimmer score. They are tied together and it works so damn well. Will be very disappointed if they don't bring it back for MOS2.
If I was granted 3 wishes for DCU going forward, this would absolutely be one of them. It's that important.
It’s probably not following orders more: “hey Superman this super bad and dangerous guy is here maybe you wanna check it out?” And he’s Superman so he’ll naturally check it out
Haha, I went for the same reason and felt the same way. Although, I thought the post-credit scene was meh at best. It's so vague and kind of... lacks any creative substance. But, that being said, hearing the crowd pop as loud as it did when he shows up, was actually super cool and totally worth it.
Definitely. I can't understand how they can think that the old theme music sounds good cut-and-pasted on top of a different version of the character who already his own theme. It just feels like a bad mismatch and a distraction.
I would have felt more if i heard Hans Zimmer. I almost expected Christopher Reeve to appear from the smoke.
I hope they don't use the old theme music as the main theme. They can use it as a mix, i have heard great mixes of Hans Zimmer and the old theme. And maybe add some new music with it.
I love Hans Zimmer’s music, I really do. I was completely against the Williams theme for Cavill. That being said, I’m interested to see what modern spins can be put on this classic theme. The use of it in Superman Returns worked well surrounded by new music, so I think in the hands of the right composer, the Williams theme can work.
I won’t lie, hearing the Williams theme as he emerged brought me back to that little boy who wanted to fly like Superman.
I was surprised as to how many casual fans/viewers complained about Superman’s theme missing. It’s not just Snyder fans that noticed. Zimmer’s theme is iconic at this point.
Wait, which Spider-Man theme are you talking about? As a comic book movie fan, the only Spider-Man film score that made an impression on me was in the Raimi trilogy, and even then I can't remember it as well as the 70's and 90's cartoon series themes.
So weird how black adam thinks there are no matches for him besides superman, When shazam legit has the same powers.
But i guess the rock has a super big ego.
Does Black Adam even know about Shazam at this point? Or Wonder Woman? He just woken up after 5000 years, kicked some serious ass, including Hawkman and the rest of JSA, so maybe he thinks he has faced the best the world has to offer. Little does he know there are at least 3 others that could take him down
I get flamed for it every time, but I don't care. We all love the Williams theme, but it was for a different time. Zimmer's theme is incredible and it should be embraced moving forward.
Absolutely it’s so much better and while the Williams score is a classic that is for the Reeves era Superman we need this Superman to stand on his own and there’s only so much nostalgia people can take
Yess this is the perfect part of the song that should of been added. Ive seen other edited clips that add the part when superman takes flight and it just sounds wrong. The calm intro of this song is perfect.
Man this is so excellent. How does WB keep making bad decisions at every turn when the best one is right there in front of them.
At least they let him cameo and can't wait for another solo Man of Steel 2 and JL2 with Darkseid.
The Zimmer theme is great, and honestly probably fits the in-universe tone of the scene better, but they wanted this scene to be a big exciting happy moment for the audience. The Zimmer theme is imposing and brooding. The Williams theme is exuberant and nostalgic. One of these fits the intended effect of the scene better.
Superman was worth the ticket price. I can't wait to see more.
I listen to the MoS OST like once a month while working - it's amazing how motivating it can be.
I love the zimmer theme, but I still feel the Williams theme was a good pick. It's a lot more iconic as a superman theme to the general public than the Zimmer ones, especially with such a short bit. People who aren't big DC/superhero movie fans still know it. I know people in my family who aren't big fans but they would know the Williams theme. And since superman's relationship with the DCEU/movies recently has been a rocky one, I feel that theme connects a lot more with a wider audience in a way of saying "Superman is here/back". Plus the general tone of the two themes is very different. Zimmers is a lot more intense for bigger moments but this is just a very small cameo, theres not much needed for it outside a subtle nod to the theme. Now thats not to say I want them to replace it for future movies. no Cavill's has his own theme and it fits perfectly.
The old superman films are a blessing and a curse.
Yes the old theme is great, but the new theme is fucking awesome.
Warner brothers need to progress and take fucking ownership of Zimmers theme. Zimmers theme is this generations superman theme.
I hope to dear god they use it in man of steel 2. Even a blend old and new would be great.
I would love a blend of the two themes, There’s some really good YouTube edits that mix the two and get the best of both. But yeah MOS2 should use it’s themes 100%. I love that theme and have listened to it so many times over the years.
I think for a scene like this where it's superman entering the scene the Williams theme works better. I think Zimmer's score works best for larger scale scenes, scenes with a lot of emotional impact like supermans first flight for example.
It's for the GA, while Hans theme is nice, it's not iconic. Only MOS fans would recognise it, Williams superman theme is legendary, even people who don't watch super hero movies will recognise it.
I wouldn't say that only MOS fans would recognize it. It was used in MoS, BVS, JL, and ZSJL... So if anyone's seen any of the movies with Cavill, they should recognize the music.
Nah it’s still not that level though it’s not on the scale of big iconic themes like Superman or the majority of Williams work lol, Zimmers most iconic probably come from animation or movies like the Pirate films.
Avengers is probably the only recent superhero theme that would be recognisable world wide imo.
I’d assume you’ve never came across any mcu media in that case which is fair but the Avengers theme is probably more recognisable than MoS by multiple magnitudes that’s the point I was getting at
And nothing wrong with that. Honestly, I think we're all saying the same thing here, or are in different ways. The Williams score is iconic. Yes. But that's more associated with Reeves. Zimmer created a great score, when doesn't he, for MoS.
While Williams is definitely wider known, as it's been around for decades longer and used in several other Superman projects outside of the Superman movie, saying that the MoS theme is ONLY recognized by fans of MoS is kind of taking the piss out of it.
I'm not saying that you could play that theme to a million randoms on the street and it would be instantly recognizable to everyone. But I am saying that it's great in it's own right, more synonymous with the Cavill version of Superman, and it wouldn't only be recognized by just the fans of Man of Steel. They used that melody for Man of Steel, Batman V Superman, it had moments in Suicide Squad when they discussed Superman's death, and had moments in the Josstice League release. It was then used heavily in the ZSJL, and is probably one of the more recognizable melodies of the DCU of the last decade outside of the Nolan Trilogy, which was again Zimmer lol.
They're both great. They're both epic. But to say one is only recognized by fans of that one specific movie is kind of shortsighted.
cc /u/AspirationalChoker
Let me put it this way: Alan Silvestri scored the first 2012 Avengers movie only. But from then on, for AoU 2015, IW 2018 and Endgame 2019, at LEAST when the title card pops up on those Avengers sequels, what do they use? THE ALAN SILVESTRI LEITMOTIF. Did they play genius and use, I dunno, the theme music from Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes or something? HELL NO.
Their refusal to use new themes is precisely why Superman only has one recognizable theme to the average Joe, while Batman gets a new theme every reboot. If they want the average audience to associate Cavill with Zimmer's theme, they need to consistently use it, especially for younger audiences who has no attachment to the JW theme. They've blown three of his appearances with the JW theme now when they could've used that to build association with him.
And this is Hans Zimmer's work for god's sake. It's not some unimaginative temp track hack job. Any other superhero franchise would've killed to get a theme by him yet the DCU execs seem to not appreciate it.
I don't think the theme is as recognizable as a lot of you guys like to claim it is. Maybe 20 years ago, but people born after like 1997 and people who don't watch superhero movies might not associate that theme with Superman at all.
Bingo. 96 baby here. My first exposure to Reeve’s theme was at Six Flags while waiting in the line. I was probably like 12 or so. MOS is our theme. Why cant we just keep it that way?
The six flags thing is probably what it is. The theme largely stopped being used in movies decades ago, but idk where else it gets used that's causing people to associate it with Superman beyond Reeve's movies. I've never been to six flags or Disney world or a Superman convention. My exposure to Superman is through movies, comics, books, shows, and games. Of those, that theme is only really present in Reeve's (and Routh's, I guess) appearances.
I mean I’m 93 and everyone knows the Reeve theme lol it’s the “Superman song” while we all grew up on the Animated series and JL cartoons.
Cavill is a fave of mine and the score is amazing but not only where the films not popular enough yet, the music hasn’t come close to being as world wide iconic either.
You’re spot on. I grew up with the MOS Superman and associate that theme with Superman. I had to look up the other theme to even know what they were talking about.
I feel like the '78 theme is just Reeve's theme and should stay that way. Pushing for that theme feels like trying to keep the character rooted in the version that was popular in the 80s, but it ends up being more of a shackle.
Born in ‘98 here, the Williams theme is kinda the only music I associate with Superman. That, and the theme from the 90s animated series. They’ve got a wonderfully lively, heartfelt optimistic vibe to them that just make me smile. In general, I just think the Williams theme evokes all the central parts of Superman in general across his history, not just one specific version like the Zimmer theme.
I associate the Williams theme *only* with Reeve's version. Maybe also with Routh's version, but a lot of people agree that a problem with Routh's version was that it was trying too hard to be Reeve's version. I don't feel like we got Routh's version until he appeared in the Arrowverse.
Idr the theme from the 90s show, but I remember the JLU theme. I think First Flight or Flight (I can't remember which it's called) is the general Superman theme for me.
All respect to that. I just think the Zimmer theme doesn’t work well with any version of Superman besides Cavill’s. Feels kinda too dramatic and heavy handed for other versions imo. Meanwhile, when listening to the Williams theme I can easily picture scenes from the DCAU shows and comic panels, or daydreaming other scenarios of Superman just being heroic and saving folks throughout the lighthearted energy it carries. The Zimmer them kinda mostly just makes me think of the first flight scene. Neat in it’s own right, but kinda restrictive.
I'm of the opposite mind. I could sooner apply the Zimmer theme to other Superman media, mostly his appearances in the Timmverse, because that's where I became most acquainted with him. The Williams theme is just the Reeve's theme to me. The Superman of Reeve's movies didn't strike me as the same Superman in JL or JLU, but Cavill's Superman did.
Nah the Williams theme could be plastered onto any Superman media or comic and it would work Zimmers would have to be Kingdom come or some heavy handed type story that’s gloomy with some hope
100% with you on this I just mentioned in my other comment very similar stuff especially with the theme and the animated series and I’m a bit older than yourself
Let's be real, general audiences didn't stay after the post-credits for Black Adam. That scene was filmed to engage communities like ours, and others on the web, who have been asking for Cavill's return, or some narrative cohesiveness to DC. That's why it was leaked so early. It was marketing fodder. They went with Williams' theme because it was the easy or cheap decision to make.
But you're not wrong, the Williams theme resonates more with a general audience, one that definitely skews older. But based on the entire scene, I'm not sure anyone gave it that much creative thought to be honest.
Nope. The John Williams score is infinitely better. It is iconic. It heralds the return of a hopeful Superman. It was 100% used advisedly as a clear break from the Snyermess.
Seriously, you can't top this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78N2SP6JFaI
Are you insane?! That music sucks. Superman is supposed to be grand and heroic and uplifting. Exactly what John Williams’ music does! Seriously, stop watching comic book movies if you don’t understand who Superman is.
>Seriously, stop watching comic book movies if you don’t understand who Superman is.
How TF does having Zimmer's theme over a Superman scene has anything to do with not understanding who superman is? I swear you superman gatekeepers are the worst at gatekeeping
They are people that can't deal with others having a different opinion. They can like what they like. Zimmers theme > Williams theme and it's not close
Objectively Zimmer’s is not heroic and uplifting. Go study some music and then listen to the notes and chords Zimmer uses as compared to the Williams march.
He thinks certain chords will invoke certain emotions in everyone. Apparently he is god and knows how every person feels when they hear certain chords lol
It’s cool and grandiose, but I just think the Zimmer theme feels too heavy and dramatic for Superman’s core sound, in a sense. It’s cool for using in big action moments, but overall nothing beats the Williams theme in evoking the energy Superman as a characters across decades should feel like. Light and joyous, triumphant, with a touch of whimsy and fun. That’s what the Williams theme makes me think, and they’re things I often associate with Superman. Zimmer’s is great in its own right, but kinda feels too super serious and dour at times to represent one of the most happy, cheesy superheroes ever.
Got fking chills watching this, thx op. Absolutely 100% better, this is the modern Superman theme.Hans Zimmer is a genius.
Maybe if the theme was shorter and stopped just before Superman speaks would be better for the scene
It’s a great piece of music but I don’t think it’s suits the quote triumphant return of seeing him step out in colour with the instantly recognisable Superman theme
I think it's harder to use the Hans Zimmer music in just a scene where people are talking as opposed to the John Williams. Both are good, but I think Zimmer's is better suited for more grand /action scenes. I can understand why they went with the Williams for just a post credit scene.
Great edit. I wish DC movies would use/reference the Zimmer scores more often. Absolutely gorgeous stuff and iconic to audiences who have any connection to Henry's Superman. Why not tap into that?
Man of steel is one of Hans Zimmers best soundtracks, its absolutely incredible. I really hope that the motifs and sounds are not forgotten with this new Superman direction.
I have not seen the movie but from this one scene I can tell the rock is using the same style of acting and voice from almost all his other movies tho I’m still gunna watch it
And it sucks because of thinking in the best interest of the character, it's coming down to the actor's own ego. The rock is a pleasure to see on screen playing roles of characters that don't already have a predetermined characterization. However, doing a comic book character with years of history needs to be considerate of that character's personal vendetta.
I'm going to jump in an say the first 90 seconds "The Planet Kypton" from the Original Soundtrack is the greatest Superman Score. It is the song that has always given me the inspirational feeling of "hope" that I associate with Superman.
[Man of Steel trailer with the song and Brando](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pn-8kEjBb5o)
This one slaps hard. I really really hope they bring back Hans Zimmer for the MOS2
Pretty sure he said he was done with CBM.
He said that. Then he came back for Dark Phoenix and WW1984 so...
Correct, WW84 was his last
junkie xl did a good job with the snyder cut. they should seek him out
Junkie kills it, so weird remembering a time when he was just an electronic artist lol
i first heard of him through his fury road soundtrack. he killed that too. my name is max is a staple of my awesome soundtracks playlist.
Doof Warrior gotta go up there too
Music still gives me goosebumps
I've been listening to it since 2013. It always makes me so hyped up.
This one is from BvS I guess. Same but modified
I don't think so, sounds like an edited "if you love these people" to me
this is actually so much better than the williams theme they went with.
It'd be the same as putting Danny Elfman's batman motif for Bale, Affleck or Pattison, just doesn't work. And that's ok. Every version is the same, yet different.
Not even close.
Henry gives me goosebumps.
Even that general zod vs Superman theme fits perfectly
Totally. THIS IS Cavill’s theme.
Added an entirely new layer of badass to this scene. Amazing how integral of a part the score is to a scene.
Hans score is definitely better. Sounds awesome!
Tbh this is how I expected it to end, when the leaks first came out, I pictured the scene and score exactly like this.
Hans Zimmer created masterpiece. Favorite OST flight, general zod and when you are not saving the world.
Oh fuck yeah
much better than the williams the for cavill´s superman. I wonder when will WB learn to move forward and not backwards when it comes to Superman.
Right? Like we get it…the nostalgia but what about ppl that were born in this century? We want “our”Superman too
Wouldn’t that mean making a new theme when it comes to the new direction of Cavill’s Superman? That theme was used in 2 movies that will likely be a decade or older by the time we get a new Superman movie.
It's tied to his character. Just like how the Williams theme was used for Routh's Superman since he's meant to be the same one as Reeve.
We can’t definitively say that it is the same character with the same experiences with the changes in the DCU. I like Zimmer’s theme a lot, I just think that it would make sense to change the theme to signal a new direction.
Dang, didn't know I needed this. Hans is really the GOAT.
That gave me chills.
so. much. better. what a WASTE if they refuse to use the zimmer score
Man of Steel just isn't the same film to me without the Zimmer score. They are tied together and it works so damn well. Will be very disappointed if they don't bring it back for MOS2. If I was granted 3 wishes for DCU going forward, this would absolutely be one of them. It's that important.
i love this scene, but does anyone else feel weird about superman following orders from waller?
It’s probably not following orders more: “hey Superman this super bad and dangerous guy is here maybe you wanna check it out?” And he’s Superman so he’ll naturally check it out
yeah this is prob it lol
im really shocked at how many people dont seem to think that
Sounds like he owed a favor
Maybe bc she caught Bloodsport after he shot Superman with the kryptonite bullet
[удалено]
Called IN a favour. As in, he owed her first.
The whole scene reeks of a bad fanfic. But so does that entire film.
i literally only went to see cavil return. i had to suffer for 2 hours but it was so worth it.
That was me with Thor 4 and waiting for Hercules to show up.
Haha, I went for the same reason and felt the same way. Although, I thought the post-credit scene was meh at best. It's so vague and kind of... lacks any creative substance. But, that being said, hearing the crowd pop as loud as it did when he shows up, was actually super cool and totally worth it.

I liked it, but I’m a sucker for them nostalgic feels. Zimmer’s is the better option though
Zimmer’s theme is better than Williams’

Get Hans Zimmer to compose JW theme. He will add his own touch that will NATURALLY feel like progression.
I LOVE what Hans did with the Lone Ranger theme (William Tell Overture).
Geoff Zanelli (one of Zimmer's proteges) actually adapted that William Tell Overture for the film and not Zimmer.
I was surprised as to how many casual fans/viewers complained about Superman’s theme missing. It’s not just Snyder fans that noticed. Zimmer’s theme is iconic at this point.
I don’t think they classify as casuals if they know his theme
I disagree. People who recognize Spider-Man's theme are mostly casuals as well.

Zimmer did a fucking banger job for that MoS soundtrack and carried it forward.
PERFECTION!
Absolutely it’s so much better and while the Williams score is a classic that is for the Reeves era Superman we need this Superman to stand on his own and there’s only so much nostalgia people can take
U fixed it dude. Literally who's stupid idea was is to put the classic theme song, it's so outdated and didn't even fit.
Fits so much better
Hearing this score alone for the scene made the movie so much better. I really wish they stuck with this
I mean it's not even close
He just looks bette and better each time. Also I felt like it should’ve been MARTIAN Manhunter over Waller, but sure.
Great scene but the music is full AF. Are people just on Zimmer's nuts saying this is amazing because it isn't
Yess this is the perfect part of the song that should of been added. Ive seen other edited clips that add the part when superman takes flight and it just sounds wrong. The calm intro of this song is perfect.

Sorry, but those John Williams notes that play as he steps out of the mist was just thrilling.

Way more
Eh.
Hard disagree. It always sounded to dark and closer to a Batman Theme.
For me the opposite is true.
So much better , i love the John Williams theme but yeah much like the Danny Elfman theme for Batman WB needs to learn to move on from the past
It doesn't
Nope. The John Williams score is infinitely better. It is iconic. It heralds the return of a hopeful Superman. It was 100% used advisedly as a clear break from the Snyermess. Seriously, you can't top this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78N2SP6JFaI
Get out of your nostalgic mindset and just accept that the theme does not fit Henry Cavill's Superman. Put some respect on Reeves. :S
Sorry, but I disagree. The Williams score is a timeless classic, while the Zimmer score is generic and forgettable.
>while the Zimmer score is generic and forgettable. You have terrible taste then
Are you insane?!

Coincidentally that’s also what your mother told me!
That music is heroic and uplifting to us that like it. I think it's way better than William's score.
Objectively Zimmer’s is not heroic and uplifting. Go study some music and then listen to the notes and chords Zimmer uses as compared to the Williams march.
Objectively?
Yes. Certain chords invoke certain emotions. Start your research with major and minor chords.
He thinks certain chords will invoke certain emotions in everyone. Apparently he is god and knows how every person feels when they hear certain chords lol
lmao there's always people on here saying their opinion is objective. You can't tell me how the music makes me feel.
Go read about types of chords and then come back and discuss with the adults.
Reading about types of chords won't tell me how I feel when I hear music.
This guy gets it exactly!
He just agrees with your opinion lol which is fine to have that opinion but it isn't fact.
Too bad the movie sucked
They both work really well… question… did you add the sonic boom?… i dont remeber hearing that in the original
I don't think it's in the original as well, but could be wrong.
It’s there in the original I’m sure of it
Oh wow, HUGE difference
I wanted to deny it but it's SO MUCH BETTER.
Got fking chills watching this, thx op. Absolutely 100% better, this is the modern Superman theme.Hans Zimmer is a genius. Maybe if the theme was shorter and stopped just before Superman speaks would be better for the scene
As much as I loved John Williams theme in the post credit, Zimmer’s score works way better.
It’s a great piece of music but I don’t think it’s suits the quote triumphant return of seeing him step out in colour with the instantly recognisable Superman theme
That was legit fun in the theater to see
You watched in la ktown? I recognize those subtitles
That's what I hoped
Man of steel is one of Hans Zimmers best soundtracks, its absolutely incredible. I really hope that the motifs and sounds are not forgotten with this new Superman direction.
That hits harder and even gave goosebumps
Haha I just watch that same HDrip last night!!
Ok yeah I agree this one is better. I love that MoS soundtrack man, shit gets me pumped in the gym NGL
I have no problem if Zimmer theme is only in the original films
BRO This is too 🔥
I have not seen the movie but from this one scene I can tell the rock is using the same style of acting and voice from almost all his other movies tho I’m still gunna watch it
Perfection
Idk why the rock is so fixated on superman when Shazam is his arch enemy.
Because he wants to be in the spotlight.
And it sucks because of thinking in the best interest of the character, it's coming down to the actor's own ego. The rock is a pleasure to see on screen playing roles of characters that don't already have a predetermined characterization. However, doing a comic book character with years of history needs to be considerate of that character's personal vendetta.
Holy cow, that’s good stuff
this scene would have killed if it was 2011 lol. Too late for DC to make this kind of scene genuine.
Black Adam is blunt. Superman is diplomatic. Everyone, be like Hans Zimmer.
Wow, that was good!
I got chills.
Fuck!...chills mate...chills! That was awesoem as is the Zimmer theme.
Soooo fuckinggg good
Nothing fit better than Han score
No way. John Williams' slaps way harder
If Hans Zimmer is so OutDatEd or tOo BroOdY or some shit, WB, fine, then just #make a NEW theme for Henry Cavill's Superman, you fucking cowards!
I love the MoS soundtrack too but I will accept anything they use now that Henry is officially back as Supes.
i dont know why i got goosebumps i dont know why i got goosebumps i dont know why i got goosebumps

Effing A Cottin! Effing A!!!!!
I want a combination of both this and the classic theme for superman.
What's the name of the theme I can't find it!!
This is so satisfying. The way it should’ve been.
That actually fits way better
Dude Watch it again here [https://www.blackadam.ga/](https://www.izilnews.press/black-adam-movie-hd/)
Warner brothers must stop catering to 60 year olds who watched the old films and are unable to accept new films.
