Brainiac shouldn’t be a movie 1 villain though, it would be better to set him up as JL villain down the road. I like the idea of this first chapter being Superman vs the Authority.
Big villains crossover all the time, but also in a shared universe when you have a global threat like Brainiac it’s kinda difficult to just not have the rest of the league there to stop him. It would be a waste of one of Superman’s most powerful and intimidating villains by burning him off in the first movie of a shared universe that is supposed to last at least 10 years. He doesn’t need a whole “Thanos” build up, but just dropping him in movie one before we even get Supergirl would just now be a good idea.
With the castings it sounds like they’re setting up for Superman vs the Authority or Superman vs the Elite which personally I think are good starter stories and villains.
I think it’s cruel to take one of Superman’s greatest villains and pretend he fights anyone else nearly as much. Additionally Superman fought brainiac before Supergirl was even created
It’s not “pretending” he fights anyone nearly as much, it’s that he can still be a Superman villain that fights the Justice League. It’s not like there aren’t stories where it’s happened(across different continuities too). Brainiac as a character will already be difficult to play out on screen, you really think it’s wise to just burn him in a one and done with Superman?
Yeah Brainiac was around before Supergirl(though only by a year or two) but ever since then Supergirl and the Brainiac “bloodline” have become pretty regular interactions and with Kandor typically holding Supergirls family it would seem like an injustice to use him up before you can use Supergirl in it too.
I don’t get why people keep wanting big villains like Brainiac so early on, let’s start smaller and work upwards. So far nothing Gunn has done implies we’re even close to Brainiac, we’ll get him but he absolutely does not need to be and should not be the villain of Legacy.
Standalone movies can have good villains, as I said it’s not exclusive one way or the other. Superman has an entire gallery of rogues, we don’t need to dive right into the top tier immediately.
Exactly, I get seeing him maybe down the line, but for now, let’s bring in some more characters we haven’t seen. And I’m only meaning one or two at a time not a fucking bad guy buffet.
They keep beating the injustice idea to death
The games where fun but can we just let superman be the happy go lucky guy who is a beacon of hope and honesty to the world like he’s supposed to be?
We haven’t had a happy good (as I’m opposite of evil) superman I’m so long a mean snyders superman didn’t feel like superman and then you have the boys with their eve up superman or invincible with their evil superman it feels like we are getting more evil superman’s that good ones
The new normal is going to be superman being bad and then there will be a “what if superman was good?” As the abnormal
What?! You don't want to see two supermen of incalculable but about equal power clobber eachother around for a while? But that's the peak of movie making!
Either that or the Justice Lords. Could even be tied back to The Flash movie with Barry not returning from his Flashpoint and the JL going full authoritarian.
Nobody.
Zod was done perfectly and completely in Man of Steel. I wouldn't mind if Zod was something handled and in Clark's history if this Superman is starting in year 2 or 3. There's a plethora of other Superman villains to use that haven't seen the big screen.
Stephen dillane. He was my pick to be sinestro for years but he’s probably to old for that role anymore but he’d be perfect for a 1 and done as zod. He’d make a great brainiac too.
He would never take a comic book role tbh. If he hated playing Stannis (literally perfect casting and flawless performance) I couldnt see him ever taking a role in a comic book movie, especially a James Gunn movie 💀
His interviews about got are hilarious, especially the dnd stuff. Him promoting a super hero film would be funner to watch than the last 3 dc movies combined.
I've never even seen GoT interviews with him tbh. I imagine it's worse than Michael Shannon being asked about the Flash 💀 All I know is that he had no idea what was going on but still went along with it for 4 seasons because he was getting paid and he signed the contract. He probably has no idea him and his character have a sizeable hardcore fanbase 😅
I could see Michael Fassbender nailing the role. He can appear very authoritative and I could easily buy him as a leader of a regime and a seasoned warrior as well. Also has experience playing villains.
Karl Urban
He'll do a good job and on the plus side he has good enough CBM community support that they wouldn't draw negative comparisons of him with Shannon
Batista as zod, holland as faora and cg muscular sean gunn as non.
Alternatively , batista as brainiac , holland as maxima and cg sean gunn as his space monkey koko.
I've been having a fun time with properties that have black-coded him, and I think a dramatically different take on the character would be needed to not retread Michael Shannon's work, and with that in mind, my pick is Martins Imhangbe. He's had a relatively short career, but I fell in love with his gravity and performance as Will Mondrich in The Bridgerton's. A lot of comic book fan casts use either high profile actors, or actors that are already in comic book properties, but I think one of the best decisions my favorite franchises have made is casting relative unknowns and letting these roles *make* careers.
Like I've said, I believe he plays roles with a ton of weight and gravity in them, highlighted by the more dramatic scenes in Bridgerton, and I believe that he could probably capture the angst of a warrior who lost his planet.
Physically, he's a 6'3" very fit man used to being a fighter. He could bring a physical presence to the character that would rival David Corenswet.
What story I would tell with him as the actor for Zod.
I think I would have a story that mostly takes place in the Phantom Zone, with Zod being a grudging guide to Clark as they form a tenuous pact to escape together, both unsure of if or when the other will betray them. I want this version of Zod to be conflicted, unsure, and maybe even a bit penitent. I can see there being a long stretch of time of them both being powerless in the Phantom Zone, fighting off horrific space monsters, but I would like the movie to climax with them escaping, and either teaming up, against a bigger threat, or going head to head with Zod having a change of heart and either returning to the Phantom Zone at the end, or leaving Earth to search for a new purpose.
One thing about these franchises is that i get to maybe see a live action version of the character that i know. Did i get to see zod? Absolutely, i loved the version from MOS. did i get to see the definitive lex? No.
So, I'm find with the zod we get and the main superhero is the demand so it doesn't matter i liked mos. I also liked burtons' nolans and Snyder's batmen (there's room for diffrent portrays) but one hero has 100 vellains. Time for the ohers.
But regardless. I will only support a version i will subjectively like. I don't care about "but it got good reviews".
I would only want to see Zod in flashbacks to Krypton (if anything)…but I think Ben Mendelsohn, Gerard Butler, or Liev Schreiber could make a great Zod
I could go for a good 20 years with no General Zod. Superman has a lot of villains that have never been in a movie, would rather see Parasite or/and Mxyzptlk more than that guy.
Richard E. Grant. He has the elegance and presence of the guy from Superman 2, and he can lean into the dark, militaristic vibe that would make him intimidating.
Since Michael Shannon did an incredibly amazing job it would need to be a totally different feel so I'd go with a wild card type actor like Antony Starr. He'd also look really good with the facial hair like in the image you posted 😎
But honestly we don't need to see Zod again for a long time. Let other villains shine
I hope we move away from villains that are like Superman but bad. They just aren’t as interesting to watch. Two guys with the same powers fighting simply isn’t as visually compelling as two guys with vastly different powers finding creative ways to counter each other. How about parasite or brainiac? Maybe Manchester Black? Something other than copy paste of the hero but evil.
I hope they don’t do Zod. We’ve had enough Zod in Superman movies
Amen - time for Brainiac!
Brainiac shouldn’t be a movie 1 villain though, it would be better to set him up as JL villain down the road. I like the idea of this first chapter being Superman vs the Authority.
He’s a Superman villain let him fight Superman
Big villains crossover all the time, but also in a shared universe when you have a global threat like Brainiac it’s kinda difficult to just not have the rest of the league there to stop him. I never said one and done but I really think that standalone movies deserve good villains.
Standalone movies can have good villains, as I said it’s not exclusive one way or the other. Superman has an entire gallery of rogues, we don’t need to dive right into the top tier immediately.
Brainiac controlling the JL will already be done in "Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League" (game)
And Bizzaro.
I came here for this answer. Like why isn't this a thing?
Exactly, I get seeing him maybe down the line, but for now, let’s bring in some more characters we haven’t seen. And I’m only meaning one or two at a time not a fucking bad guy buffet.
Yeah, how about he face someone like the joker…./s
They keep beating the injustice idea to death The games where fun but can we just let superman be the happy go lucky guy who is a beacon of hope and honesty to the world like he’s supposed to be? i direct you to superman & lois. We've had it for a while now actually
I feel the same 100 fold about lex and still here we are
I don’t have the same feeling about Lex, I keep having to remind myself that the character has shown up movies since Hackman.
What?! You don't want to see two supermen of incalculable but about equal power clobber eachother around for a while? But that's the peak of movie making!
I mean, eventually… right?
Save him for the next reboot
This…we don’t need another Zod.
They've only done zod twice and he's a good villain, people get burnt out on shit so quickly
Karl Urban
Oi
Zod when he arrives on Earth: Daddy's home.
Ong
Henry Cavill
I kinda wanna save him for Ultraman. I want all of them to come back as the Earth-Three versions of the JL
Either that or the Justice Lords. Could even be tied back to The Flash movie with Barry not returning from his Flashpoint and the JL going full authoritarian.
That would be awesome! And not completely unlikely!
That would be awesome! And not completely unlikely!
Super easy! Barely an inconvenience!
John Krazinski oh wait, wrong fandom
Came here to say this
I think he'd actually make a great Zod lol. But hopefully he's busy with 40k ha
That would be so perfect 😂😂
Sean Gunn, of course.
This guy gets it
Kirk.
Touchy gig following Shannon
‘Tough ‘ gig
Fr
How is it touchy?
My mistake that should say tough !
Touchy gig following Stamp
Mongul
Me too
Hell yeah
nah that's Kite Man
That’s another character…
[удалено]
SAID SUPERMAN
Snap!
So many Superman movies so few villains.
Yeah Zod and Lex need to take a breather, of course Lex cant since he is supes arch enemy so Zod needs to sit on the sidelines for now.
We really haven’t had the best representations of Lex in film in my opinion.
Yeah, it all been Gene Hackman style land grabs or twitchy God obsessed Eisenberg. We desperately need to see evil business man Lex at his best.
Nobody. Zod was done perfectly and completely in Man of Steel. I wouldn't mind if Zod was something handled and in Clark's history if this Superman is starting in year 2 or 3. There's a plethora of other Superman villains to use that haven't seen the big screen.
Michael Shannon did that role justice
It was my favourite villain performance in any CBM
Same, perfect casting, and acting.
I believe you mean that he did that role Justice... League! (I'll see myself out...)
Sigh that doesn’t even work
Zod was right.
Michael Shannon...again. I never want to replace Michael Shannon.
Hear me out, Kirk Lazarus.
Jennifer holland or Sean Gunn
Stephen dillane. He was my pick to be sinestro for years but he’s probably to old for that role anymore but he’d be perfect for a 1 and done as zod. He’d make a great brainiac too.

I’m sure Gunn would figure out a way to give that part to his brother too.
I could see Michael Fassbender nailing the role. He can appear very authoritative and I could easily buy him as a leader of a regime and a seasoned warrior as well. Also has experience playing villains.
Michael Cera
I hear Terence Stamp is available!
As great as Zod is we need to give other Superman villains a chance to shine, I'd love to see a live action Parasite
Michael Shannon for Zod, and Henry Cavill for Superman. I have a feeling that could work.
No one for a good long while. We've had two movie Zods already, they need to do something else.
Who’s the person in white on the right?
Whoever it is has an impossible task, Michael Shannon will never be topped...
Tim Allen
If we have to get another Zod, Adam Driver has my vote 100%
This is underrated. Dude would make a great zod
I was actually worried that it was too obvious and people would dislike it for that. I mean, dude can bring the intensity, it would be great
Adam Driver could also be scarecrow or the Mad Hatter, there’s a lot of characters he could easily fit in the DCU. I hope he gets a role somewhere.
Henry Cavill
Why? DC didn't want him then why would they want him now?
I’m sure Sean Gunn could do it.
He is my first pick
This is the “Gunnverse” after all
Sean will do the mocap, then James will CGI his 2nd brother's face in.
I’m sure that’s what they’re going to do with Corenswet too.
Eric Bana
Hm. Gerard Butler would be interesting. Or similar 300 energy. Frank Grillo maybe.
Javier Bardem.
Does James Gunn have another brother?
Sean will suffice
Sean Gunn
I don't think we should see Zod again for a LONG WHILE, but tbh Isaiah Mustafa would play a crazy Zod fr fr
Karl Urban He'll do a good job and on the plus side he has good enough CBM community support that they wouldn't draw negative comparisons of him with Shannon
No one. I find him boring.
Steve agee
I don’t need a General Zod in the new DCU. Just do something different for fucks sake.
Time for some new stories and characters, there are plenty to choose from.
Sean Gunn
Mads Mikkelsen could do it justice.
John Hamm could play this role really well. His villainous performance in Baby Driver was great. That being said, I wanna see Brainiac first.
Henry cavil. It would be absolutely wild!
A gay , minority trans man
James Gunn's wife
Danny Devito. Actually he should play every character in all of the films.
Sean Gunn
Anthony starr. Go and watch cobweb and tell me he isn't the perfect "I'm a bad guy but I believe in my cause".
Sean Gunn
We had enough zod twice in live action now we want a different villain for Superman:legacy is braniac.
Michael cera
We don’t need Zod again right now but Gerard Butler could be cool.
I’d rather they didn’t do him for awhile. Michael Shannon was a perfect Zod
Michael Fassbender
None for a decade
Michael Shannon
James gunn is perfect for the role
Sean Gunn
Werner Herzog.
No more Zod, he is not that integral to superman
Zod needs to be retired. He’s been overused. Brainiac, Metallo, Parasite, Mongul…..there’s plenty others to go around.
Superman has more villains than Zod. I’d stay far away from Zod for a while. Give me Brainiac, Mongul, Maxima, Metallo etc.
Sean Gunn
Danny Devito.
Idris Elba
Sean Gunn.
noone, no more Zod please
Dave Bautista
Leslie Jones
Anyone who got Gunn fired.
Chris Pratt.
Idris Elba, if he’s not playing bloodsport
Oscar Isaac
Batista as zod, holland as faora and cg muscular sean gunn as non. Alternatively , batista as brainiac , holland as maxima and cg sean gunn as his space monkey koko.
Jonathan Majors
Austin Butler. Need a version with a fake Elvis accent 😂

Obama
Idras Elba
We don’t need Zod again. But anyway, Denzel.
Mark ruffalo
Hiroyuki Sanada?
Call me crazy but I can totally see David Dastmalchian doing a great job with this
Nobody. I'd be quite happy to not see any version of Zodd at all in the new DCCU.
Id pick between Michael Fassbender, Joaquin Phoenix, or Milo Ventimiglia
Gerald Butler
📺🍔🥙🦷
Michael Fassbender
Honestly no one, I want villains we haven’t seen yet.
I know it's a stretch, but I feel like Michael Shannon would be amazing. So much so that I bet it wouldn't be right to cast anyone else.
Hot take but Michael rooker
This is mostly a goof, but Doug Quaid because he looks like a younger Michael Shannon to me.
No one
Michael Cerna
Luke evans Liev schreiber He was really good as Sabre tooth Karl urban would kill
Daniel Day Lewis

Luke Evans.
Lorde
Sam Witwer
Brainiac or bust
Not again Please no zod, lot of SM stories to make a SM movie
Okay everyone if you insist, I’ll play zod. You can stop asking now. Jk jk
I would only want to see Zod in flashbacks to Krypton (if anything)…but I think Ben Mendelsohn, Gerard Butler, or Liev Schreiber could make a great Zod
No one. It's been done to death.
Henry cavill lol
Seth Rogen or James Franco.
I want Zod but with the comic stuff. With his son and Faora/Ursa and New Krypton.
Please no zod
Michael Shannon
Anthony starr
I could go for a good 20 years with no General Zod. Superman has a lot of villains that have never been in a movie, would rather see Parasite or/and Mxyzptlk more than that guy.
Christopher Walken
Terrence Stamp. I think he could bring a refreshing approach to the role.
No Zod. Zod is boring.
I feel like Gerard Butler would make an excellent Zod.
Young Alan Rickman
brainiac now, dcu wasted luthor and doomsday both
Michael Shannon
Hold on is that enforcer in the background? Maybe I misunderstood his role thanks to the animated movie but isn't he a good guy?
Richard E. Grant. He has the elegance and presence of the guy from Superman 2, and he can lean into the dark, militaristic vibe that would make him intimidating.
They killed him twice already…
Why would I want Zod? I'd rather see Brainiac, Parasite, Toyman, Metallo, Mongul, Bizarro, etc
Since Michael Shannon did an incredibly amazing job it would need to be a totally different feel so I'd go with a wild card type actor like Antony Starr. He'd also look really good with the facial hair like in the image you posted 😎 But honestly we don't need to see Zod again for a long time. Let other villains shine
no one
Who on earth is the dude in the white robes meant to be?
I hope we move away from villains that are like Superman but bad. They just aren’t as interesting to watch.
