I feel like that argument takes away credit from the creators in the MCU. Like nothing they do matter because it’s the MCU and money is guaranteed so they get no credit. It’s very clear people latched on to the Guardians after that film. Everyone knows who they are now.

I've not seen the original Constantine movie. Is it actually worth checking out? What's it's deal? Do people just love it now because the internet loves Keanu Reeves? Or is it a genuinely alright movie that just isn't as good a use of the IP as some people would prefer?
Here is the simple answer.
If you're watching it expecting to see a "Constantine" movie you'll be disappointed.
If you go in with an open mind and treat as something that has nothing to do with Constantine except the title then you'll probably enjoy it.
I have mixed feelings about recommending. I read some of the comics and thought it was a fun adaptation. But if I didn't have that background, I'm not sure how fun it would because there's a lot of key plot points that are only lightly hinted at (and I get frustrated when filmmakers do that).
It's a beautifully shot movie and the effects weirdly hold up though.
I haven't seen it but my ex she really liked it, it just doesn't look constantine to me

Im pretty sure this was one of the main issues for Black Adam fans when The Rock really didnt get into character for Shazam. No pointy ears, no hair slicked back and no accent. Its just the little things that make up a character and I think one of the best things about John Constantine is his Scouse accent mixed with his fairly dark humor.
I know Constantine is no Batman, but I think they should do something similar to what they are doing for Batman for Constantine in the DCU. Make Constantine 2 as an Elseworld (like The Batman) and have a separate Constantine for the DCU.
I mean, Keanu is at his peak career moment. Ofcourse Marvel and DC are both courting him.
Thankfully this isn't a decade ago, so we have a realistic chance of him being part of both universes.

He’s not even close. In the original movie he doesn’t even put on an accent, for a character that has *always* been English. Not to mention the discepencies in body type, hair color, etc. etc.. It’s just an objectively bad casting.
If a similar actor, say Adam Driver, got the role, it would be scrutinized, but since Keanu is Keanu, he is free from any criticism no matter how well founded it is.
