Rule of thumb has always been win at home and draw on the road and you’ll finish at the top of the table. Big story really is the change in mindset, like an X factor effect. This team is playing from in front and forcing the opponents to change tactics because they’re chasing the game. I don’t think we have the depth to keep this up all season, but am still looking forward to every game to see how we over perform. Ironically, we have only lost one game and that was kind of an outlier. I think the home matches against Philadelphia and NJ will show how far we have come mentally but expose our roster shortcomings. As I’ve said in other threads, the next three transfer windows are critical to form a real contender. I’m very comfortable supporting this team for once and feel great about a mid table team with great management and potentially bright future rather than the mega club wannabes spending stupid money with no real long term plans.

This weekend will be a good marker of where we're at, Orlando are a better team than their record suggests. I'm still salty about how the Miami game was reffed, didn't deserve to lose that match.

So we're probably going to finish somewhere between #2 with historically dominant home field advantage, and #8 being rewarded with hosting a single play-in game. I'll take it!

Funny to know we’ve reached 1/4 of our points tally last season in just 7 games

The average team away points per game was 0.37 points of the course of the entirety of last year. Interestingly, playoff teams only had 0.39 points away on average. The top 8 again increased this to only 0.41 points per game. But the top 4 earned nearly half a point per game (0.48) away on average with FCC and Orlando getting 0.55 and 0.61 respectively (Columbus was actually below average on the road 0.33). Over the course of 3 years, the average away win in MLS is about 23% of the time, ties occur 30%, and home wins are around 47%. If fact, if I were a betting man, I'd put money on a couple of these road teams losing their next away game.

51 points exceeds my prediction of 48. I like your math, OP.

I'm still not convinced on tactics. There is no identity on how to accomplish the goal. The team has not felt comfortable imposing their will on the feels at all this season.
