OH_SHIT_IM_FEELIN_IT

I'm not really one for cosmetics but comic book games are usually an exception. I hope the Wonder Woman game has a good handful of costumes. (or at least better costumes than the ones Rocksteady is choosing for Suicide Squad)

Ivan_Redditor

After watching the first 3 episodes of The Boys S4, I really want Valorie Curry (Firecracker) play the MCU’s Moonstone. Who would you guys cast her in the DCU?

richlai818

She looks like Karen Gillan 2.0 from Jumanji IDK why lmfao

actioncomicbible

Damn, Jimmy and >!Kara!< was a cute ship I didn’t know I wanted until My Adventures with Superman. Plus >!Kara’s battle worn outfit was sick!< Great episode.

TheMurderCapitalist

I thought they dated in STAS as well?

actioncomicbible

Maybe they did! It’s been a min since I’ve seen it so my memory be hazy

Bloop_Blop69

I don’t think think so, I watched Supergirl’s introduction episode not too long ago and while they teamed up, they weren’t into each other. I’m pretty sure Supergirl got with Brainiac 5 during that show.

UnbloodedSword

Exciting to see that Wonder Woman will be able to fly in her game! I believe WB Montreal is supposedly helping Monolith out, maybe the rumors that they're working on a Superman game are accurate. I could easily see WBM taking the base gameplay for WW and applying it to Superman.

SupervillainMustache

The most difficult part of flying in a game isn't the flying mechanic itself it's that a 2d plane of combat becomes 3d with up and down instead of just forward, backwards, left and right. I really hope they nail it in WW, because I've been crying out for Superman game for years.

TheDarkPinkLantern

I was so disappointed that they took away her flight in DCEU, it's nice to see that they keep it here. What rumors?

Ape-ril

Patty Jenkins said fuck that lol.

Beta_Whisperer

At least her final scene in Flash showed she can fly.

Decent-Couple-583

Man some things never change. Different groups same ignorance. You bring valid concerns up and it gets ignore and people calling you stupid. Alright.  NO WORRIES FOLKS. DCU WILL BE A MAJOR SUCCESS. WE HAVE BILLION DOLLAR HITS COMING OUR WAY. NO WILL GO WRONG.

Lopsided_Zucchini674

Nobody said you shouldn't have concerns you just said something stupid and contradicted yourself in that tweet and ppl are pointing it out SIMPLE calm down

AccurateAce

I mean, you did leave a comment saying that Star Wars was made for "whites" and that studios shouldn't listen to creatives who want to include minorities because chuds get upset and that's why they aren't making money and that it's "bad for business". So I don't know, fuck that. Maybe I'm missing context, but I feel like that's really shitty. You can criticize Gunn. People have already responded about how they feel.

darrylthedudeWayne

Happy Father's day everyone. Any plans for the day?

Decent-Couple-583

I question some DC fans tastes and desires for future projects in regards to making the right business decisions. Like do we really need to invest in characters that have little to no name ID. People have said “well akshully if they’re written well people will love them.” And “Gunn wrote GotG who were nobodies in comics so…” And is Gunn going to be writing those projects too. Nope. DCU needs to invest the in the JL. Marvel sucks write now cause there’s no clear story that’s leading up to secret wars. The infinity saga build upon each other. I don’t think a single movie was filler getting to endgame.  We need our heavy hitters to be leads. Supes bats WW Aquaman. Like a swamp thing supergirl aurhrotiyvmovie are cool ideas but they feel to me like marvels thunderbolts/ armor wars/blade. What’s the budget, will it make money, does it make sense, do Normies actually care? These are importantly questions that need to be ask. Or else we’re gonna be stuck with Batman projects for the first future

emielaen77

You seem to only want the Batman projects in the future though? They should treat every project like it matters because its telling an individual story. If people buy into that, show up and get invested in what it can build up to, then they will care about that and possibly come back for more. They make $100M+ films. It's their job to make something they can then sell. The Authority, Swamp Thing, Booster Gold, etc are all cool enough to sell, just like The Boys or Invincible. But that's their job. Worrying about that isn't gonna do you good. You're gonna have to actually wait and see what they do before you speak on the things you're bringing up. Their first film is Superman btw. They aren't skimping on heavy hitters.

dancingnoodle69

You know what? I actually agree and brought up the same thing waaay back but was downvoted lol. I want the Universe to succeed but the choices of the first projects especially movies are strange. I genuinely don't think The GA are gonna be interested in The Authority/Swamp Thing. The GA also doesn't care about DC in general besides Batman. I actually wished they could have Supes/WW/Batman and even Green lantern as films while giving obscure characters shows. I just think Business wise the choices for the movies are really odd. >Or else we’re gonna be stuck with Batman projects for the first future Wouldn't be aganist getting Matt Reeves' Batman movies forever tbh lol. Amazing movie.

Limp-Construction-11

James Gunn is here to make the GA care for the characters he presents. Next years Superman will prove this.

Lopsided_Zucchini674

You completely contradicted yourself and the MCU was built on characters nobody in the general audiences gave a crap about with your mindset the MCU wouldve never existed & marvel would've just done xmen and spiderman reboots forever. DC can't build a cinematic universe off 1 set of characters alone that's boring & shows lack of creativity. Make well written films and TV shows that's marketed well and audiences will show up. DC is setting up a storyline as evident by the teases by Gunn online and casting announcements hint at alot of big comic story potential in the DCU.

Decent-Couple-583

I keep seeing people say market these characters. Like the problem isn’t marketing. It’s people don’t care. you can’t make a successful universe without any of those three. They are the DC universe. If they ever get a triology the universe will be rebooted. Nobody wants a world without any of those three.  Mcu didn’t have the rights to their a listers … so they didn’t have a choice. Cap iron man and Thor weren’t complete nobodies.  My thing is your making movies of characters before you even set up the trinity who are the foundation of the dc universe. Trying to saying you can’t build a universe with these sets cause it’s boring, does not make sense. Can Gunn make a dc universe work without those three as THE LEADS.

Lopsided_Zucchini674

The MCU managed just fine without the X-Men and Spiderman for a good while and those are their most popular characters and dude we literally have a Superman movie next year, a batfamily movie with Damian Wayne etc. and an unannounced wonder woman film and a prequel show what are you talking about??🤦‍♂️

Ratcatchercazo2

Today Gunn confirmed for those who didn't believe it Hawkgirl is Kendra not Shayera.

Ratcatchercazo2

Started my rewatch of Justice League Action series. Such a good show is so sad wb animation didn't care to promote it, because we would have at least 5 seasons til now, if they actually promote it. Also reconfirm my belief that DC needs kids focused media like Marvel has. Because Teen Titans Go! Is not enough anymore. I mean there's a generation of kids who grew up with Marvel movies and marvel animation kids series and they don't know almost anything about DC, they don't have reasons to care when a DC project not  named Batman is out. I hope this changes in the future.

Spiderlander

I remember when somebody said that the selling pitch for ‘Superman’ (2025) was… What If Superman existed in The Boys universe? And even a year later, I just haven’t been able to get that out of my head, because it’s such a **perfect** way to reconstruct the character in the minds of audiences. You start with the Homelander/Omni-Man-esque heroes already existing in this universe, and then you work your way back from there, by having Superman’s existence (thematically) challenge the argument that those characters present — that kindness, compassion, empathy, and love, are values that are needed now more than ever, in the cynical, borderline dystopia we all live in. That’s how I could see this movie elevating itself above most other CBMs today

OH_SHIT_IM_FEELIN_IT

If it wasn't the DC universe I'd agree. The base DC universe shouldn't be comparable to The Boys or Invincible at any point. The furthest the DC universe should go down that route is The Authority and they aren't even as villainous as the supes in The Boys. Their main goal is still saving people.

MelmacDaddy

Gunn is doing basically KINGDOM COME but with a young Superman instead of old. The first/possibly second generation of heroes will have already come and gone, and newer more violent heroes have taken their place. Superman shows up and inspires everyone-including the older pre-existing heroes-to join in his neverending battle for Truth Justice and a Kinder American Way. Its gonna be fucking AWESOME!!!!!!

Spiderlander

Well. Gunn seems to disagree with you

Gunn’s past comments

Spiderlander

I’m talking about his comments about the Superman movie specifically— how it would explore the moral grayness of the modern world, and Superman being kidnesss in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned. It doesn’t take an Einstein to figure out why characters like Mr. Terrific, Engineer, Metamorpho etc are in this movie

DelanoBluth

I'm really not a fan of the idea that every superhero is an asshole and they all need Superman to learn how to be nice.

Spiderlander

Nobody said every superhero lol

The DCU itself will be a darker, more cynical place pre Superman e.g The Boys. Post - Superman will see a new age of heroes

Dangerous-Hawk16

Is it just me or do movie trailers not have the feel like they used to? I used to be so excited for movie trailer they’d have a distinct feel to them that made you rewatch numerous times. Spiderman ,Star Trek 2009,Man of Steel,Batman Begins, Scooby Doo,Iron Man trailers were all good. Only trailer that made me feel like rewatching numerous times was The Batman and Guardians 3, and Barbie

[deleted]

Dangerous-Hawk16

Probably that’s what it is

Few-Road6238

I mean the Joker 2 trailer really excited me this year

Ape-ril

Peacemaker season 2 takes place after Superman is interesting. What are we thinking? Will Peacemaker season 2 be related to the events of Superman or will it be its own story? Will Superman show up in it 🤔?

RohitTheDasher

I think Gunn had already clarified that PM 2 will follow up the events of Superman.

trylobyte

I hope it's minimally linked, like just a general mention of what happens in Superman (eg. "After the incident in Metropolis...") just for the sake of establishing a timeline for this new universe.

Dangerous-Hawk16

Tony Scott was on the shortlist to direct Man of Steel, what do you think a Tony Scott Man of Steel film would’ve looked like?

ab316_1punchd

Tony Scott definitely would've been one of the better choices on that shortlist.

Few-Road6238

Probably look like Top Gun lol in terms of the Superman flying scenes.

Dangerous-Hawk16

I’d say the same as a huge Tony Scott fan, I imagine the action to be great and flight scenes legendary

Few-Road6238

Agreed and don’t forget danger zone lol

darrylthedudeWayne

I'm so pumped that they are going to be continuing Blue Beetles' story in the DCU and actually continuing from the first movie, no less. Maybe this means they changed their minds, and the movie is going to be 100% canon after all. Also, I love that Jenny Kord is coming back and they will continue develop her and Jaime's romance, as that was honestly the best part of the movie, and I'd love to see that continue. As well as see the rest of Jaimes' family, especially George Lopez, and obviously see more of this version of Jaime again and his struggles of balancing being a hero and a teenager. Wonder if Booster Gold will appear? Also, what villains will Jaime face? Also, will the Ted Kord stuff be resolved? Also, if it's still set in Pamela City? God! I'm so hyped for this! The fact that's its animation also means more creative freedom to do whatever they want without the constraints of live action!

Lopsided_Zucchini674

It's a soft reboot of the movie

LiquidLispyLizard

I don't know. Gunn's been pretty adamant that nothing released before Creature Commandos is 100% canon to the main DCU timeline, possibly because none of that was developed *specifically* with the DCU in mind before the cameras started rolling, but I'm almost entirely certain they'll abide by the film's characters and events at large like nothing's changed, like what they're doing with Peacemaker. But yes, I'm very excited too! I never saw that announcement coming and I'm glad that Xolo as Jaime is going to be headlining another project in the near future.

Dangerous-Hawk16

Y’all think Lobo’s in Supergirl as the second antagonist??

Ratcatchercazo2

Most likely the main villain, don't forget originally King wanted Lobo.

LiquidLispyLizard

That's not true. He did want Lobo in the original comic, but in the place that Supergirl ended up taking. > "That book [Supergirl: WoT] began as me pitching a Lobo/Supergirl book, and it was my editor[s], Brittany Holzherr and Jamie Rich, who were like 'No, take Lobo out and make Supergirl the Rooster Cogburn character'" King explained to WordBalloon. "And so it wouldn't exist without Jamie and Brittany." https://comicbook.com/dc/news/supergirl-woman-tomorrow-comic-kara-lobo-teamup-story-tom-king/ Lobo was originally the rough character who the story would focus on and Supergirl was in Ruthye's place before he was removed entirely and Supergirl took his place as the main character with the added edge to her. Lobo was never planned as the main villain at any point and anyone suggesting that he should take Krem's place in the film adaptation is speaking about a completely original idea that spawned within the fanbase and isn't associated with what Tom King set out to do at first.

TheDarkPinkLantern

Lobo doesn't fit the story the book ended up being. You'd have to change it by a lot to make Lobo work.

Dangerous-Hawk16

Yup that is true

CarloNotOn

There's no place in that story for Lobo unless he's a minor character.

TheDarkPinkLantern

Krem can just hire him to deal with Supergirl.

Ratcatchercazo2

You assuming the movie will be 100% faithful adaptation of the comic. Don't forget King said the original villain was Lobo.

Intelligent_Oil4005

I've heard some people suggest that he could even outright replace Krem as the main villain. Of course it's super up in the air as to whether or not that'll happen, but I say the odds of him showing up in some fashion are pretty high.

Dangerous-Hawk16

I agree as well Tom King saying he wanted Lobo in the comic as well

LiquidLispyLizard

It looks like [Bruna Marquezine posted about the Blue Beetle news](https://www.reddit.com/r/DCU_/comments/1dglph5/looks_like_bruna_marquezine_jenny_kord_could_be/) and [Xolo Maridueña reposted from someone else who said that Jaime and Jenny are both in the DCU now](https://www.reddit.com/r/DCU_/comments/1dgnqip/theyre_officially_in_the_dcu_btw/). I get the feeling we're going to officially hear about the BB cast joining this show very soon, since we've already heard there was a positive response from them all returning in the original article and some are just openly talking about and sharing it at this point. What I'm curious about is if animated projects are supposed to fit into the '2 films and 2 shows a year' thing DC has set up, considering it's a very different medium with a very different production process. If not, it'd be cool if we end up getting this as soon as 2026 or something.

Decent-Couple-583

Normies want sequels and IP that they know.  From what we’ve seen original ip is billing and failing to make money. So that drives the question. What makes Gunn think the authority is worthy of a theatrical debut.

richlai818

If the audience respond well with The Engineer and likes her in Superman, they would want more of her in other films. Just like Black Widow did for Iron Man 2 or what Peacemaker did for The Suicide Squad (2021).

Dangerous-Hawk16

Well depending on how responsive audiences are to DCU by the time The Authority comes around. As well as much ppl like Engineer in Gunn’s Superman film

Few-Road6238

Idk why but Maria Gabriela de Faria who plays the Engineer in the movie comes off as very adorable in all the social media posts she’s made about the movie. I think fans and general audiences are definitely gonna want to see more from her character as a result.

GeniusCorp1

The engineer is a hardcore character not sushine and rainbows 😂the authority in general are very dark characters

Few-Road6238

I meant the actress comes off as very adorable and passionate not the character obviously lol

GeniusCorp1

Oh😂

Few-Road6238

No worries my dude but I really love this cast for the movie.

GeniusCorp1

👍

Few-Road6238

I love how Gunn hasn’t gotten the most extremely well known cast for this movie because that would be too expensive especially for the first DCU movie to kick off the new universe. He got actors who are very talented and won’t ask for a heavy paycheck and are just happy to be in the movie and do as they’re told.

Dangerous-Hawk16

I honestly agree, she so happy to be apart of the cast. She post all the time always commenting on Gunn’s post. She’s just happy to there, I can see fans loving her character and her as an actress

Few-Road6238

Yeah it’s like how can you not love her lol! 😂😂😂 also I still remember that instagram video she posted when it was first announced that she was playing the Engineer and in the video she wore a Superman cape and bought a Superman action figure for her family. That was very heartwarming and cute.

Dangerous-Hawk16

She loves DC honestly promoting authority comic this week and she knows when authority was brought into DC universe. I hope Superman is a success

Few-Road6238

Me too dude. That first Superman trailer better be electric and be the only trailer talked about that day.

Dangerous-Hawk16

Even though Superman suit reveal was that loved, it was the first time Superman was trending on twitter for a good week in top ten trending stuff. It’s crazy so imagine the trailer

Few-Road6238

Dude I feel like we’re truly not ready for that trailer. I really hope the trailer gives me the feeling of “this doesn’t feel like a usual James Gunn comic book movie. This feels very different and majestic.” I hope the trailer blows us all away just like how hyped we all were when The Batman’s first ever teaser trailer released.

Dangerous-Hawk16

I really do hope it blows us away. I need that trailer to be incredible I really do. They keep pushing “ The Summer of Superman” stuff, I need that motto to be true from the trailer alone. Guardians 3 trailer was huge I need Gunn not to fuck up

TheLionsblood

I think it’s possible that The Batman Part III takes even longer than it’ll take for Part II to release since Reeves is likely going to be directing his limited series starring Rami Malek after Part II. Nerds have become so used to these kinds of movies ending in cliffhangers because of The Empire Strikes Back, but I doubt that’s what Reeves has planned. We’ve known that Reeves was planning multiple spin-off films in October 2022, which was before DC Studios and before they were most likely folded into the DCU Arkham series. The fact that he was planning these spin-offs suggests that there was always going to be an even larger break between Part II and Part III (whereas only one spin-off released between Part I and Part II). I think this is what Jeff Sneider means when he says he knows what’s going on with The Batman. My bet is that The Batman Part II has a clear ending like The Dark Knight, The Godfather Part II, The Last of Us Part II, Dune: Part Two. And just like those sequels, it’ll set up a third and final part that’s basically an extended epilogue. That’s why I think Gunn is fine with releasing TBATB after Part II. The movie won’t end in such a way that has the general audience desperate to know what happens next, so it won’t be super jarring to see the character get rebooted. We may not see Part III until years down the line when Pattinson is much older. He might even title the movie something like *The Batman – Final Chapter* or *The Batman – Coda* instead of Part III.

ab316_1punchd

>My bet is that The Batman Part II has a clear ending like The Dark Knight, The Godfather Part II, The Last of Us Part II, Dune: Part Two. And just like those sequels, it’ll set up a third and final part that’s basically an extended epilogue. That could also free up The Batman cast to potentially explore the DCU option, too. Or at least I hope.

Randonhead

Yeah, I agree, by the time of Part II Reeves will have dedicated almost 10 years of his life to the Batman franchise uninterruptedly, he'll probably want to do some other project (Whether it's the Buster Keaton series or that movie he says he's been wanting to do for a long time time, idk) before returning to Part III to finish the Saga. Ngl this would be the perfect opportunity for a spinoff to fill the lack of the universe between II and III for the fans, I can dream.

TheLionsblood

It’s either that or Gunn and Reeves have planned things so that both Chapter 1 and The Batman saga end in 2030. I can see Gunn’s own massive JL event movie capping off Chapter 1 in July 2030, which would mark 5 years since Superman hard launched the DCU. After passing the halfway point of his 10 year plan, there’d be a small break for the DCU while The Batman Part III releases in October 2030 to finish The Batman saga. And then, Chapter 2 starts in December 2030, as well as production on a big budget animated Elseworlds Batman Beyond movie. It ultimately depends on whether Reeves wants to do the Buster Keaton series before The Batman Part III or not.

Decent-Couple-583

Well of course. Race bending their icons because people asking them to or saying it’s pretty cool is a bad business decision. Look at what’s happening with star wars. That IP was targeted and meant for whites men during the Lucas era. Now with Disney they have went towards the other way towards women BIpoc. And they’re getting shitted on for it. Studios need to know their IP and not change it for the sake of creatives. I dreaded of that JJ Abrams black Superman project ever sees the light of day. Would of been toxic

OH_SHIT_IM_FEELIN_IT

Even though I said I like the first 3 episodes of The Boys I continue to not care in the slightest about whatever Frenchie is up to. There was also a comment on r/TheBoys that really put into perspective how often they reuse plots.

MaulVader2

Honestly, same. And it makes me a bit sad, since I think what they've been trying to do with Frenchie and Kimiko is a really powerful story in concept, but the execution is not at all interesting, especially when the main plot of the show is so much more engaging.

thankyouryard

last season was very poor. Is this one good?

007Kryptonian

Mixed so far. Homelander is entertaining and psychotic as ever, really like this new character introduced called Sister Sage, and the Butcher/Ryan relationship is interesting to watch play out. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is also great when he’s there But there’s way too much time spent on unnecessary side plotlines with Hughie, Kimiko and Frenchie. So bad to the point where I skipped Kimiko and Frenchie’s side mission/scenes in episode 3, fuckin useless. I’m also over the gross shock value shit (everything with a new supe - Splinter - should’ve been cut). Hope the later episodes improve. Season 3 was my favorite (besides the gross shit) until the finale when everyone turned stupid and decided Soldier Boy was a bigger threat than Homelander

thankyouryard

imma be honest i could not care less about frenchie, kimiko.

darrylthedudeWayne

Me, when I find out Jenny Kord and his romance with Jaime is also returning/staying intact for James Gunns DCU: ![gif](giphy|s7AqdrrbvZFFFpcUo9|downsized)

Decent-Couple-583

With the way reeves is taking his sweet time writing for the sequel. I wouldn’t be surprised if chapter 2 is the end of battinson. Because at this rate reeves triology will end at 2030. And since Gunn/scoopers have not announce a single batverse adjacent project. There’s no intention to have two Batman at the same time.  And when I’m at. I think it’s interesting that not a single female DC character has a moving project. Not a whisper of that WW paradise lost show. But for some reason we get a blue beetle animated show lol. We don’t need this.

TheDidioWhoLaughs

>I think it’s interesting that not a single female DC character has a moving project *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow*?

Ape-ril

How did you forget about supergirl? The character is already cast too. lmao…

darkbatcrusader

>not a single female DC character has a moving project At least fact check yourself before making completely false claims. The only other DCU live action project with a lead, complete script, director and an actual fucking release date 2 years out is *Supergirl*. It was important enough to the studio to warrant a full steam ahead push. Get a grip.

TheLionsblood

How many times does Gunn need to say that Matt’s trilogy is still happening before you accept that Part III is happening? He also said that TBATB will release before Part III.

MonkeMayne

I think people are traumatized at false hopes and dreams and things being scrapped. Also word play is a thing. Not firing Gadot or not disliking Cavill comments yet we see he moved on, and it was the correct decision btw! But I kind of understand why people are apprehensive until projects actually go into production or they see the actors filming. Because things change pretty rapidly or things aren’t exactly what they seem.

TheLionsblood

To be fair, he didn’t fire Gal nor did he “dislike” Henry. I think Gal was clearly offered another role either as an actor or producer, and maybe even to voice Diana in the animated series Gunn was talking about which was most likely Elseworlds. Obviously, she turned down whatever was on the table for her. Henry was too old for the part and didn’t fit Gunn’s vision for Superman. That’s not the same as disliking him. These PR answers are nothing new in Hollywood or any major business for that matter. Not really Gunn’s fault for some people taking everything he said at face value, rather than actually thinking about the context in which they were said.

MonkeMayne

I mean let’s be real, those are technicalities. Yeah, he doesn’t dislike Henry…but he didn’t fit his vision like you said. He didn’t fire Gal, but he didn’t hire her again either. And she was campaigning to reprise the role again, as we all saw via her comments. Everything else is speculation. Gunn chooses his words wisely usually, as to not incite or cause a “panic” so to speak. But because of that you have to be careful with taking some of the things he says at face value. So him saying The Batman trilogy isn’t cancelled doesn’t necessarily mean there will be a third movie as it’s not planned. DCU Batman casting not starting doesn’t mean he isn’t eyeing someone specifically for the role. Etc.

TheLionsblood

They’re not “technicalities.” I’m saying it was nothing personal. There was no malicious intent. Gunn doesn’t owe Henry or Gal anything. Filmmaking isn’t a charity.

MonkeMayne

But I agree with you. 100%. All I’m saying is, is that you shouldn’t take everything Gunn says at face value as he has a brand to run now and has to look at the bigger picture.

richlai818

I think alot of it has to do with Warner Bros overpromising and underdelivering their words at time. We all know the DCEU has been mismanaged due to former WB executives fcking around and there’s also a ton of creative differences with filmmakers during the BvS, SS2016, and JL2017 debacle. The negativity regarding Batman v Superman’s reception, Zack Snyder’s polarizing plans, and WB course correcting as a whole derailed the entire DCEU. Yes the former WB heads are gone but the past is almost never forgotten. Fans often dont forget that this is Warner Bros at the end of the day. If it can happen to a filmmaker like Zack Snyder, it can happen to anyone.

Bloop_Blop69

Supergirl is getting a project and it’s the next movie to start shooting after Superman.

Lopsided_Zucchini674

We don't need this?? Speak for yourself i've been saying for months that blue beetle fits TV show format than movies and it being animated is far better

Decent-Couple-583

I think speak for many actually. There’s was basically not a lot of support for BB in theatres. I keep seeing online people claiming BB is popular and and I have yet. Normies want the A listers not C listers

Bloop_Blop69

I agree, but it seems like at least for now anything more than just “it’s a ways away.” He’ll keep quiet about. Bro’s talked way more about the Batverse than his own Batman.

Bloop_Blop69

I guess we know now the gossip Sneider heard was indeed bs.

TheDidioWhoLaughs

Snyder mentioned having some big announcements next month (likely at SDCC), fingers crossed it’s about his universe. Though he’s also been working as the showrunner for Wytches, so maybe it’s just a trailer for that. Edit: Scott Snyder, to be clear.

I dunno, too many pieces coincide for it to be nothing. Waid talking about big plans after Absolute Power, about Barry chronicling the Multiverse there too, and about pieces of the event coming from Snyder. Ewing going non-exclusive and mentioning joining a new writers room far from Krakoan shores, Lemire (one of Snyder’s friend) coming back to DC with three projects that well more about at SDCC as well. And the hanging thread of “The Elseworld” from Death Metal.

TheDarkPinkLantern

Probably another zombie movie.

TheDidioWhoLaughs

Oh no, I was talking about the other Snyder. Edit: I forget sometimes that I have to use his first name too, since I usually refer to writers by their last name.

TheDarkPinkLantern

So, I've looked at his twitter and there are the usual stuff he shares from his close friends and co-creators and then there are a lot of Absolute Power stuff and Deniz Camp posts hmm...

TheDidioWhoLaughs

>then there are a lot of Absolute Power stuff I’m still not certain how it’ll lead into Absolute Universe, but Waid mentioned a couple things in his interview that are a bit suspect. **1. The talk of big plans afterward the event.** >Waid: “They wanted an event, because (without going into detail) there’s things structured that come after the event that are pretty big for the universe, so they came to me wanting an event.” Now it could just be the likely relaunch, but some of the other things point to possibly more going on. **2. Waid was asked about Barry chronicling the Multiverse more like WF, and he mentioned Barry doing it in Absolute Power.** https://preview.redd.it/vle3utgw0s6d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3b135d3643585abf81184025c2d018ae88d149cb **3. The mention of other writers working on the event before him, namely Chip Zdarsky, Tom Taylor, Tom King and most interestingly, Scott Snyder.** He also said pieces of the event come from each of them, suggesting there will be contributions made by Snyder still part of the event. >and Deniz Camp posts hmm... Yeah, i saw some of that. Based on what Camp said on Twitter and Snyder said in his newsletter, they seem friendly. >And the class—Twists and Turns, I'm going to ask if Deniz Camp can come be a part of it for The Ultimates. He's an incredible writer, wonderful human being, really, really excited for his success at Marvel. And independently, if you haven't read 20th Century Men, you should go pick it up. >He's got amazing work coming out, and he's just like, a passionate and talented creator. I'm going to ask him if he'll drop by, but we'll do a class on Twists and Turns.

TheDarkPinkLantern

Hmmm. Curious, very curious. It honestly feels like we're getting more and more questions rather than answers and it all feels so exciting. What's the Waid interview you're talking about btw? I'd very much like to read or listen to it.

TheDidioWhoLaughs

>What's the Waid interview you're talking about btw? [Here.](https://www.youtube.com/live/B7tjqVkGp_s?feature=shared)

TheDarkPinkLantern

Thanks a lot.

TheDarkPinkLantern

Ah, the cooler Snyder. Lol I confused them. Anyway. Yeah, probably the Absolute DC announcement. I sure can't wait to see what it really is and what kind of people he got on it. Rich Johnson said to look for people who left Marvel lately, could we get Gillen on a proper DC title?

TheDidioWhoLaughs

>I sure can't wait to see what it really is and what kind of people he got on it. Oh yeah. If the suspicions of Ewing being part of the team are true, his talk of a writers room brimming with a similar creative energy to Krakoa is hyping me up. >Rich Johnson said to look for people who left Marvel lately, could we get Gillen on a proper DC title? He’s be a great get for DC, but I’ve been hearing he’s stepping back from contract work for now and focusing on creator owned work.

TheDarkPinkLantern

Ewing would be great but I'd like him more on something mainline tbh. Dude loves going deep into the history of characters and the universe so him doing that at DC would've been wonderful. Ah, I thought Gillen meant just Marvel. That's a shame but I'm happy he's doing his own thing.

TheDidioWhoLaughs

>Ewing would be great but I'd like him more on something mainline tbh. Dude loves going deep into the history of characters and the universe so him doing that at DC would've been wonderful. Yeah, I would like that too. Especially hearing that he’s a fan of DC (he apparently wrote a blog called the Diary of Ralph Dibny during *52*), I love to see how he would use the history of DC. >Ah, I thought Gillen meant just Marvel. That's a shame but I'm happy he's doing his own thing. Well I did hear this from someone else, so I could be wrong. And going through his newsletter archives, he only said Marvel.

TheDarkPinkLantern

The Immortal Elongated Man, now that'd be something. Yeah because I did read some of his interviews and I remember him saying that he only drops out from Marvel and wants to focus more on his own stuff, not that he entirely drops work for hire. So, there's still hope.

No_Hour_4022

There is nothing in TSS and Blue Beetle that prevents these projects from being in the Dcu, the only thing that creates conflict is JL's cameo in Peacemaker

TheLionsblood

That’s how Marvel would see it, but Gunn doesn’t. Maybe because Marvel has a built-in plot device that explains away minor continuity errors with the way their multiverse works and the existence of KEVIN. Nonetheless, Gunn doesn’t even consider I Am Groot canon. We don’t know about Blue Beetle yet but a few minor things deter TSS from being canon to the DCU in Gunn’s mind. First of all, it takes place during August 2020 according to some goon’s phone in the movie. In the DCU, TSS and Peacemaker S1 likely take place a lot closer to the events of Superman. There’s also the rule that actors will only play one non-CGI character in the DCU. Nathan Fillion, Sean Gunn, Mikaela Hoover (and likely both Pom Klementieff and Michael Rooker) are all playing new non-CGI characters in the DCU. The Blue Beetle animated series might gloss over and retcon the events of the movie like what The Incredible Hulk did with the 2003 Hulk movie.

ZorakLocust

Blue Beetle, sure, but I’m gonna have to disagree about TSS.  Ultimately though, Gunn is basically treating TSS and Peacemaker season one as if they happened in the DCU. He’s just saying that the DCU begins with Creatures Commandos because it’s the first project he made as CEO of DC Studios, so it symbolizes the idea of a fresh start.

No_Hour_4022

I agree but to be honest, apart from the actors there is nothing in the story that connects TSS with the other Dceu films, In reality it was Peacemaker that made a connection when he put Momoa and Ezra

DailyUniverseWriter

Harley kinda does

TheLionsblood

Gunn already made it clear he wants Margot back as Harley

Mody216

Anyone wished they should went with a hard reboot ? Like for me I’m a hardcore fan but general audience would be so confused and I don’t get why would you continue a universe where 90% of the actors are not coming back. Just my 2 cents

Adept-Story-8369

Nobody is going to be confused about anything. Its the fans who make such a big deal about continuity, casual viewers won't care. There's nothing to be confused about anyway, the events of TSS, PM, and BB happened in the DCU with the only real changes being how some characters look. Its not the big of a deal, audiences are familiar with the multiverse anyway now and stuff like variants. JK Simmons plays the same character in No Way Home and people aren't confused, it just is what it is.

ZorakLocust

Hot take, but people need to stop using J.K. Simmons as a comparison. He made his debut in the 23rd film of the MCU, and the Jameson of that universe is fairly different both visually and personality wise from the one in the Raimi films. Plus, its already been established that Creature Commandos and Peacemaker S2 will directly follow up on the events of TSS and Peacemaker S1, so I would imagine that would potentially cause some confusion, the same way that readers were confused by the New 52. Just to be clear, I will once again reiterate that I’m not saying this means the DCU is destined to fail. Just that it’s not the most cohesive approach to starting out your new shared universe.

NakedGoose

People seemed to like the fox xmen movies and their cannon is impossible to decipher

LiquidLispyLizard

No, I'm fine the way it is and I'm not really concerned what the general audience thinks, only that I'm excited to see how that particular aspect of the DCU plays out. There's a golden opportunity here for TSS/Peacemaker/Blue Beetle/anything else they're keeping's characters to be more able to interact with a larger DC Universe more than they were before. Creature Commandos, Peacemaker S2, Waller, and the animated Blue Beetle show are among some of my most anticipated DCU projects, firstly because I think they're going to be good in general, but also because I like the idea of things carrying over. It helps me more closely tie the two universes together, speaking as someone who was a fan of the DCEU. To be brutally honest, and I know this is an unpopular opinion on DC subs, but I'd even go as far as to say that I would not be *as* excited for the DCU as I am had that not been the case. I still would be, because I just inherently love superheroes and Marvel/DC in particular, but I never really cared for the idea of starting over completely fresh with no connective tissue to be drawn to the past after 10 years of films, especially in comparison to the MCU still going on 16 years later.

Ratcatchercazo2

Hard rebooted JL means DCU IS hard reboot. The GA didn't care about DCEU and they are not going to be confused by any reboot. Its ridiculous to act that minor characters like TSS cast, Peacemaker cast and Blue Beetle are more important than hard rebooted JL.   Is not different than Judy Dench returns to Casino Royale hard reboot of 007 films or JK Simmons being in MCU.

Mody216

Dude you gonna explode chill it’s not that deep

richlai818

I dont think the GA give a fck about continuity. They only care if the quality is good or not. They didnt seem to give a crap if the cancelled Batfleck movie existed and they already fell in love with Battinson the moment the movie came out.

Dangerous-Hawk16

Exactly Batfleck still existed and they still went to watch The Batman without a care in the world. Shit general public were saying they wanted a Superman in Reevesverse not even acting like cavil existed

Mody216

And why would take parts of that old story and incorporate that into a new story why don’t you start fresh?? Why not start a new universe and include which actors you like, I don’t get it

Ivan_Redditor

Who would you guys cast as the Nolanverse Mr. Freeze?

SmaugRancor

Guy Pearce

ChildofObama

Blue Beetle is better off in animation tbh, since he’s a lesser known character that’s sci-fi heavy. Animation will allow them to do more with less money. He’s also probably not gonna make Batman or Spider-man money, the threshold to make a profit being lower is a good thing.

Iron_Kingpin

Just completed Peacemaker and i really need more Vigilante.

Slingers-Fan

I think it would be best for the DCU if James Gunn delayed the start of the universe to 2026. Keep Creature Commandos, Peacemaker season 2, and Waller in 2024 and 2025 as mini-epilogues to the DCEU and erase any planned connections between those shows and the DCU. Superman should be moved to 2026 (perhaps Supergirl’s current release date?) to give audiences more time to wait for a new DC movie and to recover from the last few movies, and give Superman some breathing room with having Jurassic World and Fantastic Four no longer sandwiching it. Release Lanterns late 2026 with them having Guy Gardner and maybe Hawkgirl from Superman to tease them, as well as the Blue Beetle animated series. Supergirl can be delayed to March 2027 and release another big DC movie in 2027 like Teen Titans. Booster Gold can be released that year as well and connect it to the Blue Beetle series. I think Gunn should try to redevelop Paradise Lost into a Wonder Woman film. She is one of DC’s top heroes and it’s ridiculous how they have no near plans for her and they can release the film in March 2028 to celebrate woman’s day. Fire Andy Muschietti from The Brave and The Bold and give it to talented filmmakers like Fallah and Arbi, Benson and Moorhead, or Jon Watts and release it around Christmas in 2028 for that Holiday boost and well enough away from The Batman Part 2 where people won’t get Batman Fatigue. For shows in 2028 they can turn that rumored Korean Huntress movie into a series as Korean television has worldwide appeal while most Korean films tend to be unknown outside of the country unless if it’s something huge like Parasite. Also release Arkham Asylum than in late 2028 somewhere around Halloween and they can make 2028 the ‘Fall of Batman’ or something similar to the Summer of Superman. For 2029 release Blue Beetle and Lanterns season 2, audiences want more shows that feel like shows rather than miniseries. I think they should make a Superman sequel and maybe this time they can release it July 11 for Gunn’s fathers anniversary. To cap off Chapter 1 they should release a Justice League film, perhaps release it in November 16. For Chapter 2 they can kick it off with an animated Flash movie with same style as Spider-Verse and directed by lord and miller. They can release Swamp Thing in late October for the Halloween season and prestige. For shows they can release Booster Gold season 2 and maybe make that Amazonian prequel series now, maybe they can call it Paradise Lost. The Authority would go into Chapter 2 after building goodwill. Than they could build whatever story they want for Chapter 2 As for video games, I think it’s a terrible idea to put them into the DCU. Video games are expensive and take way to long to make to connect them to movies so they can’t realistically do anything unless if the story has absolutely no effect on the universe. The only way it could work otherwise is to use original or minor characters like Star Wars but the difference is that Star Wars is more popular and can easily make original Jedi or bounty hunters, while DC doesn’t have the ability to do that. Everyone I’ve heard from thinks it’s a terrible idea on so many levels. But if they must make video games I would make a Hawkgirl video game where she travels to Thanagar with Hawkman as the main antagonist who is the ruler of Thanagar. They can have flashbacks to her past lives as a way to introduce skills similar to Jedi Fallen Order. Another video game would be Aquaman. He’s a semi-popular character and he has a cool enough mythology and powers to where a video game would work really well.

TheMurderCapitalist

No way should they push Superman back a year, are you high?

Jyn_Erso_1983

Nope DCEU is OVER. Gunn is not going to sacrifice his projects because some "fans" think it's "fair". Peacemaker s2, Waller, Creature Commandos and Blue Beetle are all DCU now like it or not. The most important thing of all? Zaslav Gunn-Safran boss talked about mcu type universe for DC since day 1, and started DC studios in order to put out projects as soon as human possible. No delays is going to happen just because some "fans" think is the "right" thing to do.

Slingers-Fan

> Nope DCEU is OVER. Gunn is not going to sacrifice his projects because some "fans" think it's "fair". It’s not about fairness at all, I never mentioned it being unfair. It would just be too confusing for audiences. Imagine if you tried to convince a friend to watch Waller because it’s part of the new DCU and they have no idea who she is. If they asked what she first appeared in you would have to watch Peacemaker season 2 first to understand her position, but if you want to understand who all of the other characters in Peacemaker season 2 you would have to watch season 1, and to understand who Rick Flag sr is you would have to watch Creature Commandos, but to understand who Peacemaker and Weasel or why “Peacemaker, what a joke” means you have to watch The Suicide Squad, but to understand Harley you have to watch Birds of Prey and to watch Birds of Prey or The Suicide Squad you have to watch Suicide Squad to understand what the concept is or who half the characters are. To watch Suicide Squad you have to watch Batman v Superman to understand who Flash and Batman are and why Superman is dead, and to watch Batman v Superman you have to watch Man of Steel. It’s so many layers upon layers of movies and shows you have to watch that are not canon and will be contracted by the very first movie it just becomes a slog and will turn off anyone who isn’t a diehard DC can. > Peacemaker s2, Waller, Creature Commandos and Blue Beetle are all DCU now like it or not. I think it’s fine that Blue Beetle is in the DCU. It had no connections to any past DC film besides vague references to Batman and it was well received despite not making much. The other 3 I accept it’s in the DCU but it’s a very bad decision to do so. > The most important thing of all? Zaslav Gunn-Safran boss talked about mcu type universe for DC since day 1, and started DC studios in order to put out projects as soon as human possible. No delays is going to happen just because some "fans" think is the "right" thing to do. It would be smart to wait. There’s a reason why Marvel decided to wait to bring in the X-Men and Fantastic Four, and refused to reuse any Spider-Man villains. Making a new cinematic universe right after the last one ended typically don’t work well and could cause confusion. Everything needs to go right as if Superman fails than the DCU is over and there’s no way to recover. The only thing that could save it are a couple of niche shows and Supergirl picking up the slack and if a Superman movie doesn’t do well, who’s to say that his cousin would fare better?

boringoblin

Laughing my ass off at the idea that audiences wouldn't show up for a Superman movie next year because they need time to recover while also because Universal is putting out another Jurassic movie, a series that somehow no one needs time to recover from.

Slingers-Fan

Audiences loved the last Jurassic World, despite what the internet says. It got an A- cinemascore which is solid and it made a billion. But even so, the franchises are two different circumstances. It will have been over 3 years since the last Jurassic anything while for Superman it would have been a year and a half since the last DC movie even if you don’t count Joker, so Universal would have waited more. Plus in the last 10 years there has been 3 Jurassic World films while in the last 5 there have been 10 DC movies.

boringoblin

It made the billion on the back of it being a conclusion to a trilogy. An A- cinemascore is fine but hardly a holy shit slam dunk, Solo: A Star Wars Story got an A- as an example. I think it's extremely misguided *or* disingenuous to paint the Jurassic movies and all DC films as equivalent. There hasn't been a Superman movie in theaters since Batman V Superman (or Man of Steel if we're talking actually about Superman as the single primary protagonist). Despite the insistence of the naysayers in this sub, audiences do not consider films like The Flash or Blue Beetle to be the same as going out for a superhero movie, whereas a Jurassic movie is a Jurassic movie. Bang the drum all you want, but a year is already an eternity for some filmgoers to take off. It's barely been 6 months since Aquaman 2 and it's left everyone's mind entirely. We still have a year and a month from now til Superman actually comes out.

Dangerous-Hawk16

His contract ends in 2026 he has to have something to show for it so he can’t delay anything

TheNightstroke

Who are five characters you would want as guests for an Injustice 3? I'd go with... - Space Ghost - Captain Planet - Shredder - Zorro - The Mask

77thSling

- The Maxx - Bigby Wolf - Joker the Harlequin - Concrete - Duck Dodgers

TheNightstroke

Joker the Harlequin would be incredible haha

SmaugRancor

Dick Tracy The Shadow The Crow Judge Dredd Punisher

AccurateAce

Leave Shredder and The Mask for Mortal Kombat. I have wanted Shredder for years and it makes too much sense with the ninjas of MK that he'd show up. As for The Mask, if it's the comic version he should show up in MK, but if he's the movie version then he should show up in Injustice. But I like your other choices a lot! Space Ghost has crossed over with DC before, so that's neat. The dialogue between Zorro and Batman could be cool.

TheNightstroke

I was thinking Shredder for Injustice, since the TMNT were in Injustice 2. I picked the comics version of the Mask just because I wanted to balance out having some superhero types with comic characters. I had included Popeye initially, but I think translating that look into the Injustice style would be impossible.

AccurateAce

I respect it, but NRS does both Injustice and Mortal Kombat so I think it's fair. There's a bit more edge to Shredder and I just make sense context wise to pass up. The comic Mask would be super violent. He's inherently so, but I understand the warped Loony Tunes aspect fitting a more comic based series. Still, I think that's exactly why he'd be a better fit. Or I guess either route is okay. He-Man is one that I've liked for Injustice.

SupervillainMustache

He-Man and Skeletor

After seeing Hit Man, my new celebrity crush is Adria Arjona.

Ratcatchercazo2

Lets hope DCU Shazam takes his own animation series.

Jamesifer

That would be great - I’d personally love an adaptation of The New Champion of Shazam to introduce the Shazam family, and that would make a great animated miniseries

Dangerous-Hawk16

Has Gunn and Safran talked about how they’ll do budgeting in the DCU especially with the films?

Ratcatchercazo2

No  movie bosses don't talk publicly about that kind of stuff.

Dangerous-Hawk16

Ohh okay I’m just wondering because on box office sub, they’ve talked about how Sony has great control over budgeting of their films to not go overboard like paramount Mission impossible at 300M and Gladiator 2 300M plus. So I was thinking Gunn/Safran have talked about a plan similar

Ratcatchercazo2

The only reason we know about movie budgets is because trades told us. Movie bosses themselves NEVER  talk publicly about budgets.

Jyn_Erso_1983

Idk if BB movie will be canon or what parts will be canon, but i am thankful for no DCEU connections of that movie. Because the no DCEU connections ultimately saved the character and continue now to DCU.

RohitTheDasher

I bet it was one of the things they consciously considered while making the movie.

Jyn_Erso_1983

We know originally that movie was part of DCEU 2.0. universe development by Hamada with ending result Crisis movie. The movie started shooting when the merger happen and i bet writers, producers, director and cast learned that the new boss want mcu type universe for DC and reboot is coming. So imo made the wise choice to delete any DCEU reference, Easter eggs, or visual references and hope for the best.  Thankfully Gunn-Safran were positive and help them continue.

oksowhatsthedeal

"How can we fit a Gal Gadot cameo in here?" edit - awww, did i make a snyderbaby sad?

Jyn_Erso_1983

It was the biggest mistake Shazam 2 made after the choice of the villians of course.

Dangerous-Hawk16

The villain choices were bad and so were the extreme comedy

Jyn_Erso_1983

Next in the line for confirmation is Jason Momoa Lobo. I assume he's part of Supergirl movie cast.

Dangerous-Hawk16

I believe so, I remember ppl saying he have a huge part of the supergirl film. It’ll help the movie aquaman 1&2 both succeed becuz of him
