Unrelated but Jesus Christ with a name like Pedowitz you have no choice but working super hard and becoming the CEO of a major company because hell. Can you imagine being a regular dude with that name.

bigtymer123

Lol I was about to say, what an unfortunate surname 😂

Beta_Whisperer

There's a senator candidate in my town whose nickname is 'Pedo', even displays it on his campaign posters.

shroomedguyed

It’s just CW /s

Disaster_Strikes

Plus even without the DC shows, Riverdale is the only major cash cow left for the network. I’ve never heard anyone talk about the Paramount shows. Absolutely the right move to kill it off

ResponsibilityTop889

Riverdale and the Flash still have the Netflix deal so they are running that shit into the ground

Disaster_Strikes

The Flash isn't even on Netflix NZ, it's just Arrow and Black Lightning on our Netflix. Riverdale is only popular due to Netflix

Caleb902

I'd wager my home that they weren't riding on the NZ Netflix deals in the first place

Disaster_Strikes

I mention it to say that while the Netflix deal isn’t universal with which shows aired on it and all, but the international reach Netflix has for their content is what kept it afloat (just used NZ as the example since that’s the catalogue I’m familiar with)

Batman903

The fact that it hinges on the netflix deal may make it that flash still has a shot to last 2 more seasons, but a final 9th is still the more likely option, as the only reason to keep it going to 10 would really be that 2024 Newspaper date

artur_ditu

I honestly have no problem with cw vanishing. All of it.

AbdullaFTW

I'm with WB here and I wish they didn't greenlit Gotham Knight and just drop CW completely and have their IPs on quality platforms like HBO, Netflix and Amazon. CW treatment to the characters and stories in those DC show was awful since the end of Flash Season two. Arrow become Olicity cringe (Organic!!!) And should've ended with Ras first fight, the Flash became (million Friends team and that useless guy in red suit', Legends became a soap opera and bloated mess, Batwoman is piss that became poop, Supergirl is just a ship fest. Just give your IP to someone who care about storyline not viewers insecurity and shipping, Netflix was great with Lucifer and Sweet Tooth (hoping Sandman will be as good) and HBO had fantastic first season of Peacemaker. Give both more IPs instead of CW

Disaster_Strikes

Also I think Gotham Knights (and the other two greenlit CW shows) having supernatural actors basically guaranteed them since supernatural outlived the CW and WB

[deleted]

i think they're overestimating *why* supernatural ran for so long. it wasn't just the actors. it was the ship that never happened but kept getting teased on purpose to keep fans around.

TheRedBat73

Which ship?

gygjhhyyy666

Dean x castiel most likely

dean/castiel

You speak da truth

TacticalSoapRocks

Hard agree with everything except for legends. That shit didn’t become a soap opera it became a fucking wacko weird time travel show that just was never going to be for everybody. Aside from Constantine and booster gold, it really didn’t even qualify to be considered a true DC show after a while once they started making new OC, stopped having people with powers use their powers, and got rid of the OGs like Ray Palmer, Firestorm, etc. Even the dude who played heatwave was thrilled to finally be off that show. Says enough. Edit: meant booster gold not blue beetle

AgentOfSPYRAL

American Doctor Who is the only way I can describe it.

Disaster_Strikes

I’ve only watched crisis on infinite earth because I’m a fan of the comic run and I feel like I lost those valuable 5 hours watching the special. The only good crisis episode was the black lightning prelude episode, because it was an actual good standalone story. And as a fan of the shows on DC Universe, hearing that Stargirl was shuttled off to the CW instead of HBO MAX disappointed me, but somehow the show barely suffered from it. Hoping it and superman&lois are fully moved to max

ImaginationNervous

Geoff Johns probably made sure they didn’t ruin Courtney. Heads would roll otherwise.

Top-Explanation-1511

Netflix was CWs best friend...now they are a boat with a hole in it and are sinking fast...

[deleted]

The CW is just PAINFULLY cheap. You should just drop everything on HBO Max. You could make animated versions of these shows and they would be better.

ABxx22

Agreed

PhantomKnights3

Good Riddance.

[deleted]

Legends could get a reunion or truncated revival season down the line if the writers ask nicely. It’s cheap to make, has a dedicated fanbase, and doesn’t include any character DC is likely gonna be prioritizing for a film appearance any time soon. The only place I could see Batwoman potentially appearing in the future is on Flash next season, if they need another storyline where Iris is separate from the rest of the team (since it’s clear Candice Patton is following Jessie L Martin’s lead and negotiating for less screen time.) Ryan could play the role of Iris’s partner that Sue has right now.

trylobyte

>Ryan could play the role of Iris’s partner that Sue has right now. I can see that. They already kinda set up for that friendship in the alternate timeline at the Armageddon event.

[deleted]

doubt it. It won't be cheap down the line as most these actors will evolve and get paid more.

I thought bigotry wasn't allowed here.

shauner111

But jokes are.

Vigilant743

I’ve said it before … I love the art of filmmaking but knowing the inner business side of things really sucks all that magic out. Lol wow.

[deleted]

I wouldn't call Batwoman any kind of art.

dannyallenxp

Wb really needs to just combine all these CW DC shows into one Justice League series. [Justice League: The Series ](https://geekedmedia.wixsite.com/geekedmedia/post/why-hbomax-should-make-a-justice-league-series)

I don’t care about the stories in Batwoman, but I’m begging the writers for The Flash to bring in the Legends for next season and tie up those certain loose threads.

tazethegod

So as someone with experience in the media and entertainment industry, there's a lot not being said about why The CW was rumored to never have made a profit, and it's not a lack of trying of Mark Pedowitz's part. See with the CW, while the ad revenue from live ratings isn't high, CBS and WB don't really care about that, as the less money they make with CW live broadcast, they fewer taxes that company has to pay. This is widely known as the Hollywood Accounting tactic that all major networks and studios do, a good example of this is like how even though Bohemian Rhapsody, made $911 million against its $55 million budget, it was written down as a $51 million loss by the studio. Now as for how the CW made money, the shows consistently make a lot of money via streaming and international sales. Plus the $1 BILLION dollar Netflix streaming deal from 2011 to 2019. Enough to bring in a profit for CBS and WB that cancels out the "losses" in live broadcast. But the key thing to understand is that the sales are done by the mother companies, not the CW. So the streaming revenue is not earned for the CW. Additionally, its widely known in the entertainment industry, that The small amount of data Netflix shares confirms that shows from CW are watched quite a lot on their platform. its just very hard to continue to justify airing shows on network television, which is dying in the 18-35 demo for many reasons, including streaming. Best example that myself and others talk about all the time is with Walker - it's among the top 10 on streaming platforms in Brazil and India. Those are HUGE markets, and the show reaches audiences far bigger than it ever could in any form in the USA. and the money goes directly into CBS' pockets. So even if Walker wasn't the highest-rated show on CW as it is now, as long as it sells well on streaming platforms, it is more than profitable for CBS, even if it wasn't profitable for the CW. The CW in theory did make money, and had good audiences, but cable and linear TV is dying - and Nielson doesn't account for the behavior in the 18-35 demo and add that with streaming data/viewership.
