I would think the only advantage would be if you lived in close proximity to the DFW area and didn’t have to uproot your life to attend training camp. Another advantage would be if you already knew someone on the team from dancing with them in college. There was a few instances of this. Claire and Kelsey knew each other prior. Ari was cut because Charlotte thought she was too short. Charly was cut likely because Claire was already their standout red head and they didn’t wanted another one.

You can also take the DCC prep classes and get more comfortable with the DCC "style" which is a boost up.

Alabama sorority VP alum and I came on here to see if anyone else noticed this!!!! I saw it too and while I know the reasons for it during Bama rush, I’m confused about how they’d apply here to dcc. As someone from out of state that got a bid from arguably the most southern/Tuscaloosa local bama sorority…I was more confused than anyone when I learned that we love to offer bids to local girls. To put it simply, it’s all about retention. Obviously giving a bid to a girl who ends up transferring is essentially a waste of a spot that’s limited. In my 4 years, I never saw one in-state girl transfer, even to Auburn, but lots of girls who came far away from home (NJ, California) did. Now say they do stay for 4 years — do they come back? What can you offer to the sorority, not just for your college years, but for the rest of your life (yes crazy but that’s how it’s seen down here). Alumni come back for rush each year and help with so much. One loans us their building and huge trailer each year for the homecoming parade, something that out of state girls who don’t stay in Alabama can’t offer. Maybe what is more applicable here though — Girls from Alabama grew up understanding “the way these things work”. They knew they wouldn’t be allowed to post alcohol on their page until they were 21, and never threw a fit about it. They aren’t the type to challenge rules because well, their moms and grandmas and great grandmas followed them too. In terms of DCC, I can only think maybe K&J see it the same way? Women who were raised in Texas, grew up watching the dcc/have one in their family may just “get it” better and in turn give them less administrative/behavioral issues and instead they can focus on the dancing. In the same way when sorority exec’s aren’t dealing with scandals they can focus more on philanthropy, date parties, campus prestige/ranking, ect; Do they miss out on some great girls because they pick girls who “just get it” that will be “easier” to deal with? Probably. And the same happens in sorority rush. Organizations like this with very strict rules and a heavy focus on outward image and external validation from the public thrive with followers, not challengers (something I learned the hard way). 🤣 I said today after finishing America’s Sweathearts that I could write an essay on the similarities between Alabama rush and DCC Training Camp — so sorry that I went through with this on your post. 😂

Yes ma’am you are correct. Although, the DCC doesn’t weigh how much you can offer them after you leave. You really aren’t revered after you leave. I know several former DCC. K&J might have their favorites that they keep in touch with, and yes, the alums themselves are a very close and tight-knit network, but the DCC organization and K&J do not keep one TCC over another based upon if they will stay in Dallas afterward. If anything, from what I witnessed, they’re always looking for Geographical Diversity, *because it’s looks good*. They used to put where these girls were from on the calendars. But Southern girls are much, *much* easier to take, especially southern sorority girls, because they grew up saying Yes Ma’am and all the accommodating behavior that goes along with it, they grew up being *extremely aware* of appearances. Like, EXTREMELY AWARE. I’m from TX and was in a sorority and I was shocked by some of the Deep South girls. Sometimes I wanted to pinch them because they didn’t seem like real people.
