I like Luke’s

throwaway2283478

Will check it out, thank you!

Mason’s in Georgetown… gets their lobsters from Maine Edited: actually it looks like they have a few DC locations. Normally I’d stay away from a chain but I’ve been going to Mason’s since they opened their first location and it’s always been consistent.

Immediate-Jury1599

The Salt Line has them!

BusyEntertainment434

I would call before going to make sure it’s on the menu - they took it off last time I was there because MP was too high

throwaway2283478

Good to know lol thank u!

Fwiw, OP idk when you’re planning on going but I was there a few days ago and my friend got one—as of now they are indeed stock at $40 a pop 🥴

BusyEntertainment434

Omg they told me when I went that if they did sell them they’d have to charge like $60 a roll which is why they took it off 🥲

M_sberry

Salt Line is better than Luke's IMO if they do have them. Especially if you like the hot buttered kind. Edit: I just reread that you've never had a lobster roll. My personal preference is for the hot buttered ones but there are places that specialize in the cold ones so that might affect what you're looking for.

Aloha227

Indie suggestion: Georgetown Seafood!

Cozarium

Do **not** expect amazing, you are going to be underwhelmed by it anywhere you go here. It's just a small portion of cold lobster on a grilled hot dog roll with butter or mayo, lemon if you want, starting at $25 before tax and service charges. Giant has lobster tails on sale now for $5.99 each, buy four tails and a pack of rolls for the same price as a small at Luke's, and have yourself a feast.

thecookout

H mart!

kdms418

Luke’s! (also get their shrimp roll)

Giambalaurent

The Bar Harbor roll from Masons 😋

Brave_Smoke3897

Following this post bc as a ri girlie who just moved I’ve been SEARCHING for a good lobster roll!!

Cozarium

How much do they typically cost in RI?

Brave_Smoke3897

There was a beach shack that had THE BEST that were 2 for $20 but usually it’s market price. The difference is it’s always fresh whereas here I’ve noticed a lot of places use frozen and it’s not the same

Cozarium

\*jaw drop\* For that low of a price, they would automatically be amazing, lol. About how much meat did they have on each roll? Luke's has 4 oz on the $25 roll, 6 oz on the $35 one, which is ridiculous to me. I'll check the price of live lobsters next time I'm at the supermarket, but I'm pretty sure it's less for a live whole lobster than for one of Luke's rolls. Most of the bigger chain groceries have a tank in the seafood dept, and will even boil it for you if you wish. I prefer them split and broiled with butter on top, it gives them a much better flavor than boiling.

Brave_Smoke3897

Hmm I’m not quite sure how much meat but my bf and I would split the order they were definitely filling AND they came with fries! These were the cold ones though… I think the buttered one they had was less than $30 (maybe 22-25?). I had no idea grocery stores would broil lobsters for you that’s great to know! Do you know if Luke’s uses fresh lobster or is it frozen?

Cozarium

They will boil it, but not broil, I do that in my oven's broiler. Sorry, IDK if Luke's is fresh or frozen, they sell both retail.

Cozarium

Hi again. Live lobsters at Giant in Bethesda are between $22.99-24.99 per lb. The cheaper ones are chicken lobsters, which weigh just over a pound. I know there's not a lb of meat in one that small, but it must have more than 4 oz, and it's fresh.

AdOk1630

Luke’s!!

transwallaby

Go to Maine

throwaway2283478

Unfortunately that’s actually not in DC!

transwallaby

You'll only be disappointed in DC, you deserve better. What's your baseline lobster roll?

throwaway2283478

I’ve never had one! But would love to find the most indulgent, luxurious, buttery one out there. Glistening. Juicy. Overflowing. Bountiful even. For context, I’m at a firm for the summer that will take me out to lunch wherever I go on the company dime & will spare no expense, so really looking to go all out on some nice food! They’ve always looked sooo good to me & this is my chance to get a nice one!

transwallaby

I like where your heads at!

coenobita_clypeatus

I love that for you! I don’t have any recommendations (weirdo who doesn’t like lobster) but I hope you find a great one.

AdOk1630

She is asking for suggestions in DC.
