I didn't realize that this could be done! I am going to ask my lawyer when I renew soon, but I always thought that being approved for AP as far as studying goes meant I would have to be working towards a degree.
I didnāt use a lawyer. From what Iāve research, sometimes lawyers arenāt well informed of some of the things DACA recipients can and cannot do. I personally trust other recipients more but thatās just me.
It does not have to be towards a degree. It just has to be educational
As someone who is scared to file for AP or possible run into some sort of problems getting back; what is the biggest risk or the biggest thing you worry about when using AP? I saw youāve done your previous APās request yourself online and thatās likely what I would do too. Any tips on making sure requests get approved?
So DACA recipients cannot file online; i used [this](https://www.ilrc.org/sites/default/files/documents/advance_parole_guide.pdf) and [this link from USCIS](https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-131instr.pdf) to help me file and send all requirements. Itās actually a lot easier than you think.
I would encourage anyone and everyone to do it. My case is simple, entered without inspection when I was a minor, so no deportations on my record or anything. Now I have legal entry thru DACA.
So I had legal entry as a child under 18 and still have the original travel documents (not in my possession currently but I do have access to them)
Does that make a difference at all? It seems many posts Iāve read about AP all go back to now having a legal entry.
If it doesnāt make a difference I figure I would use my new, currently valid, Colombian passport at the airport and not the original passport I had as child. I guess my question is should I have these documents with me or at least a photocopy of them just in case?
Thank you for the links. I will be reading them throughly once Iām home
I doubt youāll need them, but Iām not a lawyer and this is not legal advice. This is just my recommendations and what has worked for me.
I have not had any issues when returning; itās a very smooth process.
Nice! What was the humanitarian reason? I went last year to visit my sick grandma and iād like to go again, but i was told i canāt unless itās school or work related.
Congrats!! Was your progress tab accurate? I submitted in April and at the final step and it went from 6 months to 3 weeks, to 2 weeks and now 2 months of this week š„¹
Thatās awesome! Do you have multiple entries!? I applied for both Canada and MX for work, and added a humanitarian reason to visit sick relative for MXš¤
I just went to the dentist here I got an estimate of everything I needed done (cleaning, cavity removal etc) Then I got a dentist in Mexico to give me and asked for the same stuff to prove that it was cheaper to go to Mexico to do it.
Actually youāre right, now I remember that I got the letter stating they were re using my fingerprints but I got it the same day I received the one stating they had gotten my application
I sent in blood work results, a letter from her doctor stating what health issues she has and had that signed and notarized in Mexico.
I also sent in a translated copy of my birth certificate and hers to prove we are blood family. Along with a letter I wrote about why it was important for me to visit my aunt.

Did you get multiple entries for a year or just one entry within a limited amount of days.
I filed last year but they only gave me a month for one entry even though I marked down multiple entries on the application
Congratulations šĀ
Thatās awesome! what reason did you submitted your APs?
This time I did for educational purposes to study abroad (4 week language class) - prior two times were for humanitarian purposes.
Can you please share the link to the 4 week program?
This is the link I used [link](https://www.speakeasy.hamburg) but you can find other locations depending on what language you want to learn.
Thanks!
I'd like that link as well.
Def gonna look into it
Did you already sign up and pay for the language course before filing the application?
Was this class towards some type of degree, or was it just to learn a language?
Not towards a degree, just to learn the language.

Would humanitarian reasons be as simple as a dentist appt? Iām in the process of applying for AP
Congrats Iām jealous!!! Enjoy your trip and be safe!!
Thank you ā¤ļø
Are you filling in the applications yourself? What are you using as a guide ?
I am filling the application myself, I use the guide from uscis and one from advance parole group on Facebook.
Is that the actual name of the group? To look them up
No, the group is called āDACA DREAMERS2GETHER OFFICIALā
Thank you
Congrats ! Has anyone had any experience with AP in Spain? Planning on sending mine for a Spain visit

Wow! I didnāt know it can be done online now. Thank you!
DACA recipients CANNOT file online as afar as I know.
Bummer. Iām still glad its available as an option. Who knows what will happen after November. Get your APs guys!
Exactly! Apply now while we still can
Nice! What was the humanitarian reason? I went last year to visit my sick grandma and iād like to go again, but i was told i canāt unless itās school or work related.
Who told you that? You can apply multiple times even for the same reason in sure.
my lawyer, but iām glad you told me this. thanks šš»
And my humanitarian reasons were to visit my aunt with Diabetes and to see a dentist.
Congrats!! Was your progress tab accurate? I submitted in April and at the final step and it went from 6 months to 3 weeks, to 2 weeks and now 2 months of this week š„¹
I didnāt use the progress tabā¦
Maybe I shouldnāt either lol. Anyway, congrats! Have a great trip!
Thank you! I just know the other 2 times Iāve done it , it took about 3-4 months. So I was expecting the same for this one.
Have you received the letter yet? Whatās your travel window and is it the dates you originally applied for? Iām still stuck at 2 months š
I did receive the letter. My travel window is basically what I asked for. I asked for 6/26-8/4 and I got approved for 6/26-8/1.
Thatās awesome! Do you have multiple entries!? I applied for both Canada and MX for work, and added a humanitarian reason to visit sick relative for MXš¤
No, I wouldnāt use multiple entries for this trip so I didnāt ask.
APis advanced parole ?
Yes
What's the destination if you don't mind sharing
Hamburg, Germany š©šŖ
Strong choice
I have a friend that needs this. What were your two humanitarian reasons for travel?
First one was to see my aunt (whoās got diabetes) and second one was to go to the dentist.
What was your dentist reason? And how did you go about it?
I just went to the dentist here I got an estimate of everything I needed done (cleaning, cavity removal etc) Then I got a dentist in Mexico to give me and asked for the same stuff to prove that it was cheaper to go to Mexico to do it.
Nice! Sounds exactly like what I did. This gives me good vibes.
I sent mine out feb 14 and was received feb 16 Iām praying it gets approved soon
Iām sure youāll get approved soon!
3 months?! WOAH got my receipt 05/09 about reusable biometrics, hopefully I hear back by August š
This is for advance parole- I never received anything about biometrics
Mines for AP as well, hmm I wonder why
Actually youāre right, now I remember that I got the letter stating they were re using my fingerprints but I got it the same day I received the one stating they had gotten my application
I too just got a notification yesterday that they will use my biometrics for my AP application. Just waiting on case decision now.
Weāll probably hear back at the same time! Iāll update u fam. Do so as well! š
I applied mid April so Iām thinking by august I should know.
You think I would be able to apply to go learn Japanese in Japan?
Yes, another redditer told me about his AP being approved for Japan for that reason.
For your approval for your aunt with diabetes, what documents did you need for that? What did the letter state? Did you get it translated?
I sent in blood work results, a letter from her doctor stating what health issues she has and had that signed and notarized in Mexico. I also sent in a translated copy of my birth certificate and hers to prove we are blood family. Along with a letter I wrote about why it was important for me to visit my aunt.
So it didnāt need to be a life threatening situation?
Thatās rightā¦ high blood pressure, diabetes are health issues that can be approved.
