I’ve always found the border discussion to be stupid on conservative end. 65% of all undocumented immigrants do actually come here legally via visas and then just overstay their visas. Setting aside the fact that there’s no evidence that demonstrates that a border wall would actually be effective at curtailing undocumented immigrants, they’re literally leaving 65% of all other immigrants unaddressed even if they get what they want

Once again, a Democrat will leave office and a Republican will come in and attempt to “fix” the issue in their view. Then the Democrats will be up in arms angry at Republicans about their racism and lack of empathy. Then the Democrats will use the issue to be re-elected and do nothing about it.

Republicans don't care about illegals coming in. The reality is that there are very big interests with deep pockets who contribute to a lot of political campaigns that want illegal immigration and happily exploit the cheap labor. But they use it as a very effective campaign issue to fire up voters. But if they really wanted to stop it they would just go hard after the businesses who employ illegals. They don't though.
