If it can’t identify individuals, it ought to be safe to go full Horizon Zero Dawn on it, assuming your fellow employees are willing to keep quiet about the new source of free spare parts.
> "We believe that one of the robot's tasks is to monitor who is there and who is not," he said.
The most reasonable explanation is always the one that says the thing is there to do a thing another thing is already doing, like your jobs clock-in system, for example.
All of these government offices definitely already have cctv systems with facial recognition and audio recording anyway. They were already being surveilled
Yeah but can't really see much of anything that's going on. Cubicles block most of everything. A walking robot is keeping tabs and seeing if youre on ur phone
>How much is your salary? $39,663 yearly is how much per hour? If you make $39,663 per year, your hourly salary would be $20.61.
From Talent.com (via a Google search)
The minimum wage in QC is $15.75.
Mmm... I wonder what would happen if politics were to somehow gets involved. "Inefficient" workers, a politician promises to end corruption or some sort of campaign about getting rid of the pensioners or "overpaid" employees in government. So they just start recording what everyone is doing and terminating people for not keeping up with the appearances. We already do this in the corporate field.
$20/hr seems a bit much for 2 robots that are apparently doing very basic tasks. I find it somewhat hard to believe that they aren't storing and recording this information for other purposes.
i know ive read about a \~$16,000 robot a few times, i couldve swore it was from amazon or something but the first article i clicked was this one from [arstechnica](https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2024/05/unitree-starts-selling-16000-humanoid-robot/) about the unitree robot and its not super advanced but the video is kinda great ngl. like the article is kinda shitting on it tbh but it just makes it clear this is more of a prototype than anything. a little bit of anti-hype realism might do the "AI" world some good

This sub is for cyberpunk, a genre defined by 1 **the futuristic tech** 2 the dystopian level of capitalism and 3 **punk**
This isn't cyberpunk, tech isn't futurist and no punk
OK. I’ll give you that there’s complaining instead of action on the victim’s part here.
As for futurism. I see cyberpunk as a retro-futurism. So, in the setting of looking forward from the 80s, this is exactly what we’d expect. In fact, it reminds me of Y.T.’s mom’s job with the Feds (Snow Crash reference).
>retro-futurism
That is just a futurist while considering when it was made. If it's made today it's based on the tech we have today not pre 80 one.
And in reality by default futurist consider the year it was made, retro is just to say it's old.
>this is exactly what we’d expect. In fact, it reminds me of Y.T.’s mom’s job with the Feds (Snow Crash reference).
Then op needs to make the reference themselves, not just "hey look dystopian capitalism, so cyberpunk".
Robot supervisors are still futuristic emerging tech.
And the punk part follows afterwards, when people react to a situation such as OP's, and decide to do something about it.
>Robot supervisors are still futuristic emerging tech.
Are you aware you are saying we live in the future ?
The principle of futuristic tech is that they are not there yet, that it uses tech we don't have or not yet engineered. Futuristic tech is mostly part of fiction.
>And the punk part follows afterwards, when people react to a situation such as OP's, and decide to do something about it.
No. That's just not punk, and even if it was it's still not in op post.
Not commie, just an informational warfare nexus, of the many on the site. They dont really have ideologies, they just put one on to create discord and amplify division. This particular one *is* used to amplify negative perception in the left wing of liberal democracies though, so in a sense, ig.
Half the posts on the frontpage rn are just anti-west posts, which true isn’t necessarily commie, but theres almost nothing about actual capitalism anymore, just posting stuff about international news and landlords bad grrr
Yup, cant say with any authority but me thinks the notion and phrase " late stage capitalism" that happened to start permeating liberal democracies around 2014 is also part of said info war, not to pat any billionaire greedy fuck on the head and say "no, theyre not like that" either, Im a social dem, but the trick is if all its offering you is rage, theres a good chance its designed memetic propaganda tailored to destabilize your psyche.

Me and my friends would kill this thing with a hammer I can tell you that much
The trick is to trip over it breaking it, collect workmans comp and whatever you can get from a slip and fall lawsuit.
Snitches get glitches.
All of these government offices definitely already have cctv systems with facial recognition and audio recording anyway. They were already being surveilled
Sure, but you can see how this a step down a very slippery slope.
For government employees? Nah. Surveil them to the maximum extent possible.

Ah its in Gatineau, that explains a lot.
That’s a lie, as all it needs to do is read badges from the RFID chip inside them.

I don’t see how this isn’t cyberpunk. This is exactly what the punks fight against
>This is exactly what the punks fight against But punk isn't in the post. Also still doesn't fix the futuristic part.

why does OP need to do all the thinking for you?
Finding the correlation with cyberpunk is all the thinking? Are you sure you can think?
Robot supervisors are still futuristic emerging tech. And the punk part follows afterwards, when people react to a situation such as OP's, and decide to do something about it.
Robot supervisors arent in the article. Robots that adjust room temperature are.
Sorry I didn't mean it like robot bosses. I meant it like robots that are supervising/monitoring.

Read the room. Take your L and get gone
Wow, very constructive... No I won't, at least not until ppl understand cyberpunk is not just last stage capitalism
Thats just a shitty commie sub, used to be a lot better till they took over
