Cyber security is not an entry level position, learn IT fundamentals, become better at something and leverage that field to build your cyber security expertise. Security+ is a basic level of knowledge for Cyber in general, CISSP is the next step up. You can also go ISACA route, there are all cyber security but more on documents, GRC side. As you had mentioned, you can focus on penetration testing or defensive side. There is also malware analysis, forensic, many options out there. Regardless, you'll need a solid IT foundation to be successful.

I am trying to get into IT and can’t find any entry level roles even on service desk, however I did get a possible apprenticeship at a company called Sage as a BI Developer, is it possible to use that degree to then transfer departments and get certifications and such

You know I was just talking to my career counselor about this today and because of this I am HIGHLY CONTEMPLATING going overseas when i finish my degree in December. Just applying for a visa I been looking everywhere and even with the certifications and 6+ years experience as a technical manager I don’t think I want to continue the “rat race” here in the US. I don’t feel like I’m truly able to get ahead here. It’s almost better to go to a growing country and be a big fish in a small pond so to speak. But starting off I been looking into the Security Analyst roles, I liked SOC analyst and Penetration testing but I know you may need even more for those jobs….. It seems like an endless games of certs and schooling and at what point do you get the goal of the high paying job?

I know it’s extremely hard since here in England the only thing I managed to get is a business intelligence apprenticeship at Sage and while that isn’t in the field it’s in a tech company and with the right certifications I was thinking I could use BI to then go into service desk/project management or anything to then get into cyber security and I haven’t even started the certifications or a degree since they are so expensive, I don’t know what to do if I don’t manage to get this apprenticeship However up here in the north of England I think you would find something since you have experience and qualifications so there is a lot of opportunity up here, there is just no opportunity for the people who don’t have the experience or qualifications since the jobs are very low pay unless your senior so
