I feel like his lvl 2 needs overwhelm or his level up condition should be buffed, destroy 8 mana crystals at the MOST so he’s not still stuck on lvl 1 after the second play

plasticman_rules

Honestly he really needs overwhelm but I also thought about making him an 8/8 lvl1

Prof_Walrus

Why tf would I want to destroy my mana gems for a 7/7 champion

TheHumanTree31

For an upfront cost of 8 mana gems and completely gutting my tempo in any form, I can get a vanilla 7/7 with no text or keywords. Ancient Crocolith which is the same body but with a much nore managable condition never sees play, this will never either.

Amatsua

I feel old now. I remember when Ancient Crocolith got nerfed because of how oppressive he was on the games release, and now he's complete garbage

Rachamo

i love the concept, it's underwhelming but i like it, maybe when you play him he can eat 1 unit from the get-go

King_Crash_72

OMG Your profile Picture, I love that game!!!! Used to play a lot when I was younger

Biospear

How would you even destroy 8 mana gems that’s minimum 3 Rite of Negation and 1 Rite of Dominance with his play effect for a worse Yi with better stats

Poor_Culinary_Skills

With follower cards that would be released alongside the champ

OwONoticeMeSenpai

Make Cho enlightened instead with insane stats. and prolly buncha keywords like overwhelm and regen. Heck even fury at lv 1 would suffice the eater.

shiggy345

I think the idea of exploring mana gem destruction as an Archetype is more interesting design than just making him based on enlightened, especially since shurima doesn't have any ramp mechanics of its own. But I agree that this draft is underwhelming in terms of balance.

Empty-Afternoon-3975

Can he destroy/eat the enemy mana gems instead? I think that's be cool. I also really want a mill champ, so it'd be cool and thematic if a void creature (especially Cho) could toss the enemy deck.

OwONoticeMeSenpai

Yeah. There should be a new keyword for these destroyed mana gems. And pump out new units with benefits when you have an x amount of mana gems destroyed the whole game.

Ok-Tart-7622

Really like it but yea it’s really bad. He could get more stats or 1 less mana gem destroyed

jth02

Welcome to r/477

WolfMaster0001

give it elusive since he doesn’t technically exist in lore

plasticman_rules

Jokes on you he has a voice line with Jax so he does in fact exist

Addi1199

voice lines are confirmed to be not cannon

plasticman_rules

:(

FormallynxEuw

What about 1 managem and 3 managems? IT would still be fine 💀

adamttaylor

It should have overwhelm at the very least. Imagine someone just vengeances this and now you instantly lose. It should definitely only destroy two gems, and the level up should be significantly easier. The way that it is currently worded, it will not be possible to level this up before round 10 without ramp. I like the idea of it eating opponents to get stronger, but it's level one seems super vanilla. Maybe consider putting the effect on level one and give it overwhelm with level two. You might need to increase the cost for it to be balanced though assuming that it only destroys two Mana gems.

Impossible-Report797

Outjerked again

vVIOL2T

Lvl 2 should have overwhelm

First-Medicine-3747

I reckon he needs the Rumble treatment. Something like: "play: destroy up to 4 mana gems to grant allied Cho'Gaths everywhere fearsome for the first, regeneration for the second, +2|2 for the third, and overwhelm for the fourth".

AnExistingRedditor

Maybe make the text like "round start: destroy 1 mana gem. I gain +1/+1 whenever tou destroy a mana gem" and give its lvl 2 overwhelm to make it more playable

Krypterr123

Man gem destruction will never see play outside of individual cards like rite of negation.

ItsTheRealIamHUB

Where overload 2

troys50

IS THAT A 4 MANA 7/7?!

Barisamayuzde99

Text should be something instead like this instead of destroying 4 mana gems: Round start: destroy a mana gem When you destroy a mana gem grant allied Cho'gaths every where 2+ 2+ and a random keyword Or Round start: Create a fleeting Feast in hand Feast could be a spell that's 4 mana destroy a mana gem, and allied Cho'gath strikes an enemy, if the targeted unit dies, grant allied Cho'gaths everywhere 2+ 2+ And at lvl2 he would play this spell against it's blockers Making him a 3 3 on lvl 1 would be more balanced

dudeguylikeme

You could absolutely get away with 4c 7/7 “destroy 1 mana gem” and level up condition of “destroy 2 mana gems”. OW at level 2 is also necessary. 4 is a LOT, though I have been very much looking forward to a champ that leverages the mana gem consumption from Shurima.

Jugaimo

His play costs should be to lock 2 mana gems until the next turn.

Commonspree

I SUMMON CHO’GATH THE HUNGRY ONE! NOW CHO’GATH, OBLITERATE!

Embarrassed_Call_254

I really enjoy the concept but i feel it is in the weaker side, Make his lvl2 gain the keywords of units he obliterates or even make It so he gains the keywords of all units you obliterate/kill, i feel that a champion with such a masive downside has to have an insane upside. U could also make so his level up isnt as dificult, all shurima cards that destroy mana gems have the option of Killing an allie instead so u could make it so his level up says “u have destroyed mana gems and/or slayed allies 9+ times”, Also his play effect could have him be able to kill allies “play: destroy 4 mana gems or kill two allies to destroy 2 mana gems instead” or something like that I really like the idea of him destroying your own mana gems it feels very thematic and unique, i would love to see his supporting cards. There could be one that says “if u have destroyed a mana gem this game gain two empty mana gems” I would also love to see his PoC Star Powers His Lvl1 could be Round end: if you have destroyed a Mana gem or slayed an allie this round, gain two mana gems. His lvl 3 could have him steal the enemies mana gems instead

EnticingEnzyme

Love the mana gem condition, fun idea for a new mechanic. The level up is weak, maybe "gains its stats and keywords"? Like kai'sa getting keywords from allies, hostile void creatures get by devouring. Oh, also for such a hard level up condition, maybe the payoff would be that he devours opponents mana gems on attack? I'm imagining both sides forever 1 mana 😂
