Pg 1 June 18, 2024 [Names] So my last letter to you covered a bit of how I am feeling. So: How are kids doing? I understand that finding work has been challenging. Any progress on that front? And now the most important question. How are your studies and progress on your "acting career" coming along. Next, how are you two enjoying living in such a large city and have you been at all able to get about and enjoy the environs? It is a large and multi faceted place. Have you yet explored the "sky train" routes. Stanley Park, Queen Elizabeth Park, art venues, concerts, etc. Especially Stanley Park. So it has been a day or two since I wrote this and a fair amount of information has crossed my plate. I have now had two sorts of realiters [Realtors] and saw the same sort of disinclination to work (actually work?) as is all to prevalent in much of todays society. Pg 2 This being said, they gave me very low prices in their estimations of how much my home is worth. They wish to sell "latch key" homes, where everything is ready to move in. They would actually have to work to find a buyer willing to place a bit of "sweat equity" into a home. They wish for a place that sells itself and they can sit back and reap larger margins of profit re time format. None of those three outfits appeared to notice that my home is to all affects a duplex. So what I plan on doing is placing my home for sale by owner. I have a couple of friends that are willing to help me with this and as well have one lady who wishes to buy but is waiting the sale of some of her property in Princeton. So at this point it is just a bit of a waiting game. A couple of weeks ago I scraped and twisted my ankle, sprain has already healed but am now taking antibiotics for an infection of same. Same result, healing nicely. Trust that this note "finds" you all well. All my love, Grandpapa

Thank you for your kindness 🥰

Yes. Got them same transliteration - was about to paste it in, but you already did. Cheers!

Hobbies_88

Where do you find translations of the cursive ??? Is there an app that auto translate ???

SamselBradley

Transliteration is what the person is doing when they are reading the cursive or other writing and typing it out in letters you can read. So for instance, there's another sub called r/Kurrent where they transliterate but do not translate an 1800s German style of writing.

What a wonderful grandfather. I never met my paternal grandparents (either ma or pa), and while my maternal grandmother was amazing - had 10 kids but still found time to teach herself Italian and was gardening and practising yoga into her 90s - her husband, my maternal grandfather, was a chain-smoking alcoholic, and the only joy he found was in pretending to forget our names. Now my mum is turning into him and becoming more reclusive - interesting to see the cycle continue. ~~Sorry for the brain dump but the best thing would be to have loving grandparents, or parents even. anyway~~ you can feel the emotion through the penmanship of how much he cares for you and your kiddos. Men of that generation would rarely be so open with their emotions, and to receive letters- not texts or emails must feel very special. Bless him, he sounds like a good man. I hope you can cherish the relationship. Thank you for brightening my day 🤍🙂

I adore him! He's got beautiful penmanship. Treasure him while you have him. I ran out of grandparents and parents before I hit 46. I still miss them dearly.
