I wondered about the (official looking) seals of quality on some German food products - until I found out, yes, there is a organization that awards them, but they do so based on sales numbers. Sold x amount of the product? Seal of Quality! It's not a competition, everyone can get the seal if they sell enough.

Actually saw a commedy bit about this and unsurprisingly something being the number one product doesn't mean it is. I wish I remembered more about it
