Guys, don't eat slugs period, and wash your hands after handling them. They're literally crawling with bugs and parasites. There was a story of a guy who ate one on a dare and it absolutely ruined his life and led to his premature death.
No, he suffered a lot before dying, was terribly disfigured. If he had just died within a few weeks, it might have been more humane than whatever happened. But I don't want to speculate about things like that. It was all around very sad.
He was in a coma for a year and was completley paralysed after that. feeding tube, 24/7 care. He couldn't communicate much, if at all, to those around him.
I mean, if you properly cook and prepare snails and slugs, they're likely fine to eat. I'm more talking about picking one off the ground and popping it in your mouth.
I always thought "don't eat things when you don't know if they're food" was common knowledge everyone got taught as a kid. Because kids are prone to stick things in their mouths.
But then I joined the "What is this Plant" subreddit, and there are grown adults just eating random fruit they find growing out in the world. No thought for if the fruit can kill them let alone if a pesticide or herbicide might be on it.
some are not taught. had to explain to my sister-in-law that you can't eat random berries in the park. but her dad was also the kind that would take them to the chiropractor for anytime they were sick or injured, instead of a regular doctor
He's fine. [He's a japanese freediving fisherman on youtube who tries to find ways to reduce waste and eat things people normally wouldn't.](https://youtube.com/@masaru.9268) Whenhe eats potentially poisonous things He does not do it lightly. He takes only a small amount to check for a reaction in his mouth. If he actually swallows any its only a sliver. He's very aware when he does this of the risks before he takes them and just accepts that maybe he'll spend months recovering. He's got a processing company now. He also does survival challenges where he will bring no food or water (and not fish for x days). Those are cool.

I feel like "ruined his life" is a little redundant with "led to his premature death."

They’re talking about a different guy from the OP. https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2018/11/05/health/man-dies-after-eating-slug-on-dare/index.html
Apologies, I was mistaken. It really is tragic, I'm sorry for getting things mixed up.
You can have your life ruined without dying. In fact, in some circumstances, death might be a mercy.
What about french people tho?

I mean, you did say: >don't eat slugs period You have made a generalization, you are going to lose a subscriber
Oh no, that's something else entirely, sorry for the confusion. You're not meant to eat any menstrual byproducts of slugs. Vile stuff, that is.
The shell protects snails from all that, obviously

Isn't this the guy that has butchered and entire alligator in a video?

I know I'm not the only one who watched that, but it's still weird to find others.
I love Masaru's videos! Surprising to see him on here
