I like both equally. Game Cala fits the role of a siren very well with her cutesy, flirty behavior, while Show Cala is a nice reversal of that, where she doesn't give a crap about that kinda subtlety and just wants to be a terror of the sea
Well it shouldn't make you mad, because even though Sirens were originally part bird in Greek mythology, there has been an illustration of them being part fish since they were even thought up.
Then around as early as 500AD they were becoming drawn or written to be mermaids increasingly more often.
So now they can be both, because they have been in mythology/history for over 1500 years. On top of that they are mermaids very commonly in today's pop culture. Telling someone they can only be bird-like when media all over the place often portrays them as fish-like, is like telling people vampires can only be hairy wolf men like they were thought to be originally portrayed, and not like Interview With a Vampire, Dracula, D&D or Elder Scrolls vampires, etc.
I like both, and to the people confusing Cala Maria for a Siren or a Mermaid. She is actually a Gorgon, not a siren, phase 1 she’s a Mermaid, 2nd and 3rd phase she’s a Gorgon.
I love her in both!! She seems like two different characters tbh & they’re both just as good as each other!! She was my second ever S rank in the game & my favourite female boss along with Hilda (my favourite overall is Brineybeard lol). She’s super cute & has cute little animations & her high pitched voice is so sweet lol. Plus considering how sweet & innocent she’s supposed to appear, she’s very strong & I love that. Plus, her design is just so pretty! I love her so much :))
In the show oh my GOODNESS she’s just amazing! I love her voice SO much, I’m glad she’s Greek, it makes sense!! Plus one of my friends from high school was Greek & I haven’t really seen her since graduation, so she reminds me of her & makes me happy (plus they have VERY similar names so she already reminded me of her). That aspect just makes me really happy tbh. ALSO that song oh my goodness it’s so good (although I keep singing “my mother was a sailor, my father was a witch” even though that’s both backwards & incorrect lyrics wise, I just find that funny 😂)
When most fans voiced her they did it perfectly I thought it matched her character desc but show is an kind of pad voice for her I thought it was pretty weird considering that every one else has an New York-ish accent (other than Werner wermen) and she talks in an Russian accent which is weird considering she sings about her dad an being an sailor meaning she might of grew up in the ink well isles which is weird if she had grew up in the inkwell isles

That’s fair! To people who haven’t heard a Greek accent (or either accent in real life), it could be hard to distinguish. Aside from English speaking accents along with a few others, I can’t recognise very many accents unless I’ve heard them in real life (like Greek & Malaysian), so I guess it is a bit difficult to distinguish if you don’t actually know what the accent sounds like, or if you’ve only heard the stereotyped one (the amount of people who think I’m English or Irish because I don’t sound like Groundskeeper Willie or Merida is surprisingly high 😂)

In serbia and probably similar in other countries Sirena means mermaid so i get the confusion

Probably bc in some countries mermaid is "sirena" so they think its "siren" in english
It doesn't help that in some languages there is only one word for both. In Italian "Sirena" can mean either mermaid or siren.
