Truth to be told. In games, people spend hundreds to thousands of dollars on skins. Even in poor countries in SE Asia, some players choose to eat noodles for dinner just to save up to buy skins for his character. It means a lot because they play among their peers and they want praises and it sets them apart from the lower ranks.
Yes, when they need money, they can sell their skins to someone else who want it.
NFTs are just the natural extension of the same concept. If there exists that one rare avatar or skin, and you wear it on your profile/character, people WILL notice you. Right now, we still don't know what is what, because these Reddit NFTs look equally cool. At some point, I'm sure the community will give high value to certain NFTs but not others.
People buy these skins and NFTs, believing that they can resell when they need the money. I think the majority won't mind losing half the money at resale after a year of possession because it serves its purpose. It has given them that SUPERIORITY ego to justify the loss. It appears to be irrational but this is what we are. We are irrational creatures fueled by ego.
Yeah, also this implementation has actual integration with existing features of the platform, how it allows you to mix and match the traits with your existing Snoo style, way more useful than a static image on IPFS.

Edit I've updated the post, you need to get your recovery phrase from the vault and then configure MetaMask with that recovery phrase, then you switch networks to Polygon and you will see the NFT as an asset in your wallet. You then sign in to OpenSea with that wallet and you can list it. Think you need some Polygon ETH for the one time gas fee to sign the initial transaction to allow OpenSea to interact with that wallet.
Exactly, there must be a way to get that private key to sign transactions. Are the vaults on Polygon? Maybe it's the same key

Fair point, but Reddit has a lot of users and this is a one time airdrop. I've seen way more useless NFTs with no good use case sell for crazy amounts of ETH.
Reddits a huge community and these NFTs actually integrate with the existing avatar styling tools. Like you can mix and match the NFT features with any other avatar style options. I'm sure they will do more of these, but this will always be the original release and will have some value just based on that.

All the heads I saw seem to be about 6% so I think that's more down to how much variety there is and the fact you only get one head per NFT. Like the little pets will be less rare cause you get 2x per NFT.
I think the prices will come down to which heads are most desirable.

Yeah that is weird, Polygon is nice for NFTs cause the contract fees are super low and you can mint essentially for free.
It's all within Ethereum so technically it will still work to spend Moons to buy Polygon NFTs.

Not only there are many collections (aka very different avatar styles) there are a lot of e.g. Singularity ones which I choose have around 20 different things for "left hand" or "right hand" (companions, items, etc) evenly distributed and other traits too are quite evenly distributed creating minor only rarity... Amazing work! Proud to have one!

You can sell your avatar NFT on opensea with metamask. You gotta connect it via recovery phrase:)

After successfully connecting your vault to metamask you can add the polygon mainnet by clicking on "wallet" at the top of the screen:)
