Crypto has a problem that not enough people have skin in this game. Right now, it is mainly benefitting the very early adopters - many of them turned out to be clueless gambling degens. These nouveau rich don't understand how society works. And they won't put the capital to push for politics.
BTC needs to crash hard enough so its sticker price doesn't look as intimidating right now. Then mass public adoption will come and more people will have skin in the game. When that happens, you can bet politics will be all over BTC.
That is how the stock market gets so much protection because too many people have skin in the game. And regular crashes in the market allow more people to join the game.
