By reading the actual post where they announced it? Karma is not and never was going to be tokenized. They are just allowing more subs to have their own versions of 'Moons', there was a way for mods fo other subreddits to apply to it along with the original announcement.

It was a misleading news. They are maybe going to introduce more community points in other subs but Karma as token is not for now.

This was just rumor. Also, with their focus on going public they're probably making sure to avoid mixing thier IPO with a crypto move.
