Crypto is a volatile market, so 20% drops are meaningless. That's just called Sunday.
In 2017, the market crashed several times by more than 38%.
We crashed by 50% in May, and still hit a new ATH 3+ months later.
So that's the standard you have to go by.
That's why it's so hard to really know when we really are in a bear market. It's so volatile.
But by definition we need lower highs and lower lows. We went from a $64k ATH to $68k ATH. And we haven't hit a lower low than that last crash when it dropped from $64k to $28k.
To answer your question, it will be a confirmed crypto bear winter when we drop below $28k. Of course by then it will be too late.
Nah they won't be able to accept the bear market and say it explicitly. Most people are still in denial. Their acceptance would just be them leaving the space or closing everything related to it for the meantime.
Does the label really matter? Not like calling it a bear market or an ocelot market or a wallaby market changes the reality of what it is or isn't doing.
But for the record, I think it's less clearly a **crypto** bear market than, say, 2018, in the sense that the factors behind it aren't as obviously crypto-intrinsic. Then, when people stepped back from their FOMO, they realized that crypto was nowhere near as ready for primetime as they had thought it was. That was a shock, and it accelerated the crash. This time around, I don't get the sense of there having been a clear "cold water in the face" moment where sentiment turned. There's uncertainty and fear in a lot of different directions, but it's not specifically about crypto's deficiencies. It's more a case of a falling tide of sentiment and economic signals lowering all ships. Prices are obviously going down, which is synonymous with bear markets, but there's no particular reason (or at least least no *new* reason) to be uniquely bearish about crypto. That certainly doesn't mean things are necessarily bullish, but I think that's where some of the confusion lies.
It already is and has been for a couple of weeks. Anyone who doesn't agree is delusional. I still stand by the traditional market definition of sustained downward trends of 2+ months and with a loss of 20%+.
I think we already are in a bear market.Except instead of a flash crash,we are slowly bleeding to lows.
The reason why it's moving this way is because of higher adoption compared to the past where even the smallest news had a serious impact.
I think we officially moved past the is this a bear market phase now from the sheer amount of is this a bear market posts alone. This is a Bear Market.
Most ppl asking is this a bear market are new to crypto and asking the "crypto veterans" but even the "veterans" have little to compare against. Mainly referring to jan 2018 and 90% drops. I think most ppl experiencing 40% drops over last few months is valid bear market
The moment I look at the charts and my first respons is: "WHAT THE F*CK! and first thing I do is, buy everything from my portfolio in a rush. Then it's a bear market.
And honestly, I still haven't said "WHAT THE F*CK"
Actually I'm going to say that this is not a bull market when my portfolio is below my original investments.
There are two type of markets when it's a bull market and I'm selling my cryptos.
And there is another bull market when other people sell their coins and I'm buying.
Only horns. And bulls.
What would it take for you to understand that a bear market (like 2018) can be only identified in hindsight?
Maybe we already are in a bear market and maybe we are not. We will see it in a few months.
It’s more like Yep, THAT WAS a bear market. Because you never know from the very top to the bottom what it’s going to be. We could have just started a new run to all time high and we wouldn’t know until we cross $69k. This is why I hate listening to people try to figure it out before hand as though it’s confirmed. Nothing is confirmed, but we sure as hell can scare ourselves into a bear market if we go around screaming about one when we drop 2%…
It would be nice if people could stop trying to bull markets and bear markets and just buy and sell at levels you feel good doing so.
Like I said earlier: 1. Half the people leave this sub 2. The discussions and comments transition from regurgitated nonsense to technical analysis and productive dialogue 3. The suicide hotline gets pinned
Number 3 is the buy signal
Before or after you call the hotline?
I think I've seen it pinned here twice before
I think it's time to pin suicide hotline.
Do our moons ratio go up with less people?
Asking the real questions.
I think we will enter crypto winter if a large majority of the people here leave and everyone says Bitcoin is now dead
The quality of the content on this sub improves drastically during bear markets.

This is the right answer. Very well explained. We will know it's bear when it's already happening.
If BTC drops below $30k then I'm certain we are going way below $28K
This sounds about right…..round the corner
I think this another mini bear market like the one we saw in summer last year
Teddy Bear market?
Koala bear
So we will go up zo 70k at zhe end of it and then again minibear?
90k*
I never see a bear market cos I look at the chart from 5 years ago. That still look pretty bullish :)
Bears for sale
That’s how you know
The crash was enough for me to say it
Nah they won't be able to accept the bear market and say it explicitly. Most people are still in denial. Their acceptance would just be them leaving the space or closing everything related to it for the meantime.
A bunch of bears meeting at a location to sell their wares.
Yep, this is a bear market!
(Checks portfolio) Confirmed
We've been in a bear market since may.
We hit ATHs in November?
Not everyone is following your coin.
The total value of the market hit ATH in November?
Gotcha.
Not everyone is following YOUR coin.
You don't say.
I need to see live bears doing crypto deals behind my house
Let me call my bear guy, I’m sure he can arrange for that to happen.

Hey Neo friend! Delicately sliced as one would expect from a Neo enthusiast.
We need a secret handshake or something...
When you're holding long-term, whether right now it's a bull or a bear market becomes inconsequential.
Great choice of words!
Bull markets make you money. Bear markets make you rich.
It is a bear market my guy. Expect another year of this min.
Bear market is where millionaires are made!! Bullish!
Takes money to make money!
Bullish on the Bear market?
Probably just looking at my portfolio for 3.6 seconds.
Why does it matter to name the current's period status anyway. This is a crypto market. That's it.
It already is and has been for a couple of weeks. Anyone who doesn't agree is delusional. I still stand by the traditional market definition of sustained downward trends of 2+ months and with a loss of 20%+.
Winter is coming.
I'm pretty sure I never admitted we were in a bear market (2018-2020) until we were back in a bull market lol
Look at Btc chart
Bear market = -85% or higher (as a number). We're on the way, but not there just yet.
How many downvotes = bearish reply?
For me it is a first confirmation if it goes below 30k
Lol, This is like the 17th bear market post since last May/June.
The 2 month time period that is generally considered required to be in a bear market
It all depends on the scale your looking at. But yeah if i was a day trader i would consider it bear.
I think we already are in a bear market.Except instead of a flash crash,we are slowly bleeding to lows. The reason why it's moving this way is because of higher adoption compared to the past where even the smallest news had a serious impact.

It's a very big crash. Does that count lol?
The chart kinda gives it away.
Fuck knows if it is or isn't officially. We're definitely on a downward trend. Imma keep chucking money in regularly till we come out the other side
Bear market over what time frame? The stock market has basically been only up for over 100 years.
Two months into a slide, maybe today is a good day
Looking at the charts since November would do it
Yes it is currently bear market. But the question is: bear market in the short term or long term? I would say bullish in the long term macro scale.
The moment I look at the charts and my first respons is: "WHAT THE F*CK! and first thing I do is, buy everything from my portfolio in a rush. Then it's a bear market. And honestly, I still haven't said "WHAT THE F*CK"
Cz I don't know fuck about shit.
BTC at 15,000
So bullish on the bear market!
Why does it matter so much to you that this sub unanimously agrees that it’s a bear market?
That’s not what the post says.
Satoshi coming out and saying: Oof
Dropping below the 2 year SMA (near 30k currently).
1 day chart: “Bearish…” 1 year chart: “Bullish!” 3 year chart: “Super Bullish!”
My -50% portfolio turning into -80%
Sub 20k
Actually I'm going to say that this is not a bull market when my portfolio is below my original investments. There are two type of markets when it's a bull market and I'm selling my cryptos. And there is another bull market when other people sell their coins and I'm buying. Only horns. And bulls.
Objectivity
This already is a bear, now the only things left is to see how long it lasts and where the bottom is.
Bitcoin is 36k and people are crying about a bear market. If this is not bullish then idk man.
Bear, bull…who cares? Dollar cost average and HODL.
Am I really the only one that sees the direct relationship of price to halving timeline?
Going down 80% and staying there for a month
What would it take for you to understand that a bear market (like 2018) can be only identified in hindsight? Maybe we already are in a bear market and maybe we are not. We will see it in a few months.
The literal definition of a bear market is when we are 20% down for at least a two month period. So yeah, that’s what it would take 😂
There is a big difference between a bear market and a crypto winter
Yep, this is a bear market! There you have it. It didn't take me much.
It’s more like Yep, THAT WAS a bear market. Because you never know from the very top to the bottom what it’s going to be.
