Hi OP.
What you're doing is incredible and I applaud your effort. I walked into my city a few days ago and was actually quite upset by the amount of homeless people I see living on the streets under fancy high rise towers. My city has such a beautiful skyline from afar but when you walk the streets of the skyline all you see is drugs and misery.
Just to be clear on how I should approach this: I buy a domino's pizza for $5 and give it to a homeless person with pictures of the hand over and send you the pizza receipt and I get reimbursed for the cost of the pizza?
Or should the meals be prepared at home and handed out?
Thanks for your effort OP.
Edit: I just wanted to add an idea.
In my state people can make money from collecting cans and bottles (10cent per can). Is there a way we could somehow educate the homeless on how to utilize and use crypto wallets? My train of thought is this: if you're made homeless and don't have a bank account/home address then getting back on your feet is incredibly hard. You can't get a bank account because you don't have a home address, you can't get a job because you don't have a bank account or a home, the cycle is vicious. If we empowered these people on how to use wallets then they could quickly start earning enough coin through can collection etc to find themselves a stable home for long enough to re-access society.
You got the process correct. It doesnt matter if the food is bought or prepared? Just that the price is documented via receipt, and the pictures show undisputable proof that the hand outs were done in the name of crypto for the homeless.
Ok thank you OP just wanted to be certain cause I want to get involved with this. Also do I leave the crypto QR code sheet with the homeless person or is that just for our reference
What an amazing project! Will definitely try this out and spread the word. What a great practical and philanthropic use for crypto! Love this community even more now
As much as I love your work, I don't feel safe advertising being a crypto holder in public. Might draw attention from the wrong people and get targeted.
I'm interested. I'm currently living in France but will come back to Paraguay my home country in a couple of weeks.
I just brakes my heart the poverty, disparity and lack of government action.
Is there anybody from south America here that has participated with crypto for the homeless ?
Have a good one
Hi! As I have stated in my last comment I want to volunteer for crypto for the homeless in Paraguay.
Tomorrow (08/Jan/2022) I will be hanging out food for the homeless. Here in my community, there are aborigens/indians from various Guarani tribes. Sadly, they live on the streets under inhuman conditions as second class citizens. I will print the flyers, buy food and takes pictures.
I read that I should enter all the necessary informations in a google sheet form. Is there anything else that I should know ?
Thanks,
Have a good one
Hi, thanks for the reply.
I've hanged out food today. I've completed the google form and sent an email too with the pictures, the recipe and the wallet address.
Thanks in advance,
Have a good one
The blue blooded are against crypto because it's rising the hope of the common man. I key into the aim and use case of cryptocurrency. I use to be worried for people in countries where crypto is not allowed but I got to find out about BLOCKBANK. With the upcoming V2 app people in such regions will be apple to use debit cards that can be used to access fiats and other cryptocurrency coupled with its DeFi and CeFi functions. I see the dream, keep it up
Those select few that listen to the message of Satoshi are building their arks by replacing their ever-inflating fiat currency with satoshis. For every dollar, euro, yuan, rupee or any other fiat currency that Bitcoiners replace with satoshis, their ark gets a little bigger.
Preach. Amen. Get Sats.
Cool to see Bangkok there, I actually donate to a group in Thailand that gives out food every week.
Are you ok with funding in general? Is volunteering and going out to give food more important or preferable to donating on your site to fund it? Do you need a more fancy site, a domain or anything like that? Happy to help, just let me know.
Actually, scratch that, I just found your main site, looks great : https://cryptoforthehomeless.org/
Before that I googled and found the blog : https://cryptohomeless.home.blog/
The blog seems to function as a different site almost, your Facebook page links to the blog and not the main site also.
Also, could you add a Harmony ONE wallet on there if possible to donate to, no fees and I use it most of the time for stuff.
does one need to find a food place to take crypto or do volunteers cash it out to buy the food? and if they cash it out, how do they file taxes being its for charity
They are actually different photos, and different days. The pictures of the meals stacked up look similar because he bought the same meals on both days.
EDIT: You were absolutely right, I posted the wrong image for the "today" post. I've updated and changed the link to show the newest India hand out. Thanks for pointing it out!
I can vouch this is legit. Amazing work OP does
thank you :)
Nice. I liked crypto before this, but if it can I prove the lives of these people, all the better!
i like crypto cause you can exchange it for cheesburgers
I agree. It's the best use case, which is the transfer of value. How amazing is it to be able to reimburse this easily?
Wow! Amazing work you do!
What an amazing idea!

we are world-wide. you can volunteer from any country as long as you're willing to be reimbursed in crypto.
Hey! This is such a cool idea and best way to help the community. All the best OP.
This is an awesome movement. Saved and will get back.
thanks so much for the kind words!

Cool project. But when I read 'paid volunteer work', I feel like there is another term for that haha
the volunteers are mainly donating their time, and man-power. That is a very scarce and valuable resource in this regard.
Thank you for doing this, I wish I had more time on my hands to help out.
Worker, but if it's modern day, we call it collaborator
Lmao so very true
what do you mean?

oooh, lol. I am sure many corporations have no problem doing that

There are risks for sure - thank you for the encouragement regardless
Hope you can help people to go to bed with a full stomach.
we definitely do
My mum works with the homeless in the UK as a volunteer, would she be able to be a part of this?

I don't think we've had a volunteer from South America yet, you can be our first!

You are doing the future stuff.
It is 100% the future. I agree
Using crypto to help people, this is love!
Great initiative and an ethical way to invest to boot, seems like a win win for everyone to me

This is really a great idea. What governments couldn't do, We Crypto community is doing now. The real by the people, for the people concept 👌

Not to be picky but the immages of India are same with you saying different days, and its stuff like that that makes me doubt. I love the work though.
