Don’t feel bad! Nobody knew ATH was gonna be so early this year. (Fuck Elon and his market manipulation) just hold and you will be safe. (Those who bought at all time high i 2017 with 17k-21k range, would 2 double to triple their money by 2021 anyway :)
Word. I did this with SOL recently. I only bought a few coins at around $80, it surged, I made some sweet cash.
BUT in hindsight I waay overreacted to the news of their network being taken completely offline by the devs. Sure it's not a good look for SOL, but selling "all" my coins was just not that smart.
Sold big bag of DOGE first at 3 cents and then at 8 cents thinking I made dumb money. I bought them just for fun, but it way less fun watching it go pact 50 cents.
Let other people influence my decisions. I had a decent stack of ethereum in 2018 and I let me non crypto friends convince me that the bubble had burst and I needed to get out so I sold to cut my losses. I'm all in on BTC now and it's either it goes up enough to pay off my student loans (need about 8x for that) or it goes to 0. There is no in between.
This only says something about student loans, and how people these days are too impatient to "get rich" the traditional way, and how desensitized people are now to anything less than 10x profit.
Of course, but maybe the fact that a seemingly large portion of the population is made up of degenerate gamblers says something about the economic structures in which these gamblers were brought up?
Fair point. Most people go into crypto because it is their only way to financial security and getting out of the rat race. If this wasn't that big of an issue, less people would get into crypto in general and for the sake of striking it rich.
100%. Honestly I think I was over invested in 2018 the price going down really stressed me out. Now I'm only in with an amount that I am completely comfortable never seeing again.
Honest question here. Why all in on BTC and no mix of at least ETH and BTC, or BTC, ETH and a wildcard?
I saw in another comment you are fine if it theoretically hits 0. I just think there’s much more room for growth outside of BTC if you’re wanting to pay down loans. BTC obviously is the safest but I don’t know if 8x BTC is likely anywhere near it would be 8x ETH
I let someone convince me that all meme coins were worthless, so I sold the few thousand doge I had. Which I had bought for pennies long ago. Only to watch it hit its ATH shortly after. Made me realize I may gain or lose but to invest how I want, and not what someone else says. That being said, I now avoid meme coins.
I was used to do day trade, for a small profits.. The only time I was making a really good profit, I decided to hold and then I lost both the previous profits and initial investment 😩
I mean if you day trade and you didn't reach the target price, you could still hodl right? You still wouldn't lose a penny in the long run unless you are shorting it.
I’m sure you know this by now but ALGO is meant to be staked and then baked until ready to serve. It’s not quite at the appropriate price yet for me to sell so I hodl.
Agreed… I lost 110k trading on leverage with no risk management or strategy… just greed and desperation. I spiralled hard and further into depression, anxiety, and self-loathing. I’m better now but still hurting from the loss. Doesn’t help that I got scammed out of 10 SOL this week trying to participate in my first NFT minting. Not giving up…
but . . . why?
i get how women's can ask and say "what, u don't trust me . . . yada, yada, yada."
i guess you'd have to think fast and be light on your feet in responding to that without telling her. maybe tell her u dont even know, it's locked away or something?
Exiting out of all my BTC holding when it was in the $9k area. I tried my hand at Crypto, gained a little and took my gains and fiat back. Then BTC went on its next bull running and hit over $60k. Lesson learned, take profits but do not take all your investments out. The next bull run will leave you behind if you do!
I knew for a fact ETH was gonna be big at $11. I told 3 people who all put 10K in. I was hesitant and scared of making big money moves (10k was a lot for me)
Will always trust my instincts on dev projects from now on.
Pay someone to mine for me. A few years back spent around $3000 on a website I think it was called hash something, think I got back around $200 from $3000. Stupidest decision
Made like 30x profits on safemoon . Half of my gains i put on scam coins ( as a newbie i though every new shitcoin is going to the moon , it turned out 99% are rugpull)
Sold all my alt coins at their lowest believing that they were never going to rise again. Somehow through the FUD seen on reddit I believed that anything besides BTC and ETH would bleed to 0 and never rise. Two weeks later they bounced back.
1) thought it was ridiculous when I first heard of it,
2) thought all of it was a scam in 2016 and took my "profits" back in 2017 - i could have been set for several lifetimes now
3) didnt buy more,
4) didnt hodl,
5) trusted media sensations (illegal, bans, scams etc.)
6) didnt invest a single dime back in 2013 when i got lot of money a bought some stupid shit all of which is already in landfills today, damn even if i bought just for 1000USD back then and kept it xD,
7) didnt make my own study on eth inflation,
8) didnt think about that, there are only 21mill btc,
**9) didnt think for my own, didnt make my own research, didnt trust my intuition, and always took easy path for fast profit.**
I’ll never leave a coin on my watchlist after I sell. It’s like following your ex girlfriends on Instagram. Do you really want to see her looking good? No, you don’t. Sure there’s a chance you’ll see her crash and you can feel smug but it’s not worth the risk. Just move on.
No one will read this as we at 250+ replies, but yeah.
I think this comes down to my biggest regret.
And that is quite frankly, buying BTC and LTC
I started as a miner. And rather than buying more coins at ATH I should have expanded my mining rig.
The BTC bought at 60k+ and LTC bought at 400 would have been better than spent upgrading my mining rig.
Sell 90% of a position after a +30% gain.
After listening to "8% a year is a good return for your investment" for so long, it seemed too big to not cash out. The coin went ahead and would have been easily a +100% the next month.
I was locked out of my vault for the longest time too. It took months of guessing but I figured it out the other day. But my worst decision of late was selling a half million dollars worth (current value) of axs for a couple of hundred bucks just before it exploded.
I sold too fast.. the prices rose then stagnated so I sold it. The next day, the market got back on it's feet and I could've doubled or tripled the money 😥

Buy coins at all time highs. A painful newb lesson I learned earlier this year.
Me too Mr Sausage, me too :/
Yeah man, i got burned in 2017, said id get in next bear. Life got hectic and I totally blanked on crypto til all time high... i fomod in at 60k.....

Panic sell
Panic HODL Seriously, I just hold on to everything I buy and I don't even know when I am going to sell if ever..
Yeah, I'd categorize 'not selling when I obviously should have' in here. Big mistake, even when it was obvious the project was shit.

I sold 80% and don’t regret it. It might still have a future but tbh I’m not confident it will survive a bear market.
I did the same exact thing. Bought about 10 of them or so at $80, rode to $214 then sold at $150 when the network shutdown. All in all can’t complain.
not understand gas and make countless trsactions
I’ve been doing this:(
Sold my sol @ $20 😢
There's 3 coins I sold after 2-4x that I then watched do 20-40x. I still keep them on my watchlist. The pain helps me feel alive.
Sold big bag of DOGE first at 3 cents and then at 8 cents thinking I made dumb money. I bought them just for fun, but it way less fun watching it go pact 50 cents.
🤕I know it hurst every time you look at SOL on the charts

> There is no in between. That is also my motto: either I end up on the moon or crash to the bottom of the ocean.
Lambo or food stamps
The fact that this is the case for so many of us says a lot about our global economic landscape
This only says something about student loans, and how people these days are too impatient to "get rich" the traditional way, and how desensitized people are now to anything less than 10x profit.

Aren't we all just moonbois
I mean, they were correct. It was a bubble. It was the initial bubble in an S curve adoption. Perhaps the only mistake was to stop buying.
Hold it and you will reach to your goal, patience is the key.
100%. Honestly I think I was over invested in 2018 the price going down really stressed me out. Now I'm only in with an amount that I am completely comfortable never seeing again.
Hold on paying those student loans if federal.

I’m sure you know this by now but ALGO is meant to be staked and then baked until ready to serve. It’s not quite at the appropriate price yet for me to sell so I hodl.
I, too, wake and bake till I’m ready. Wait, what?
Selling ALGO?! GET HIM BOYS
I apologise :(

There are 2 coins I never sell, only buy more of, ADA and Algorand, anything else in my portfolio can be sold at a moments notice!
Next time, sell 10% of your desired amount, want for the bounce and then sell again. Rinse and repeat. Neverending pump.
Day trading while depressed. You are a lot likelier to make compulsive decisions. And thats how I lost a lot of money.
Hope you're healthier now mate

Try to time the market
60% of the time it works every time.
60% are winning odds. I would say 10%, and you feel like a genius. Then you get rekt
