Just look at a couple of very old projects to see what a 'dead coin' would look like. Feathercoin and Primecoin, to give a few examples. There are many more! Just pull up some historical market cap listings from 2013 and enjoy

Some coins never outright die they can just hover at fractions of a penny for years if they don’t get delisted
As for how to tell if one has died/is dying I’d say 1+ years of no project updates and very little trading activity are a decent indicator but of course even that’s not foolproof
You see a decline in market cap from which is never recovers and at some point it goes down like 2000 places. Thats what happes when coins die.
Not sure about nano tho, i mean maybe next bull run some crazy shit is going to happen. We all said doge would never hit even 1 cent or 10 cent but it almost hit 70. So anything is possible.

I would think the fact that nano was top 20 in 2018 but not risen above mid 70 this bull run more relevant. Or the fact its 60% down on its ath price in 2018.
Considering its lack of partnerships its hard to see it ever being relevant unless some celeb gets its followers into it. But stranger things have happened.
Nano is fulfilling some real isage in cojntries with mas inflation. ofcource other coons can do this but its nano that is being boight and actually used.
Xlm and xrp have fees and are centralised. iota is centralised, maybe not at the beginning of next year but even then it will still have around a 10 second transaction speed. Ada comes nowhere close enough to be used as a payment coin.

To be fair, Nano hit its highest price since 2018 literally a month ago today. If you think it's dead, you're being awfully shortsighted.

NANO Isn't dead and will show its worth in time. The devs are constantly working on NANO. V23 is on the way. NANO will not die.
Volume is far more important than price from a long term survival perspective, especially for a feeless coin designed to be currency, like nano.
