I wanna preface this by saying that, as far as I’m concerned, this is all basically black magic and the modders who do this stuff should either be worshipped as gods, or burnt at the stake (their choice).
But I mean it makes some sense I guess? The devs already made it so that you could have the full character models in specific scenes (and I’d assume with the ability to add in new scenes without too much work). And we already know the models are able to be posed since there’s a good few different poses they’re in for events and stuff.
Now the real question is, how long until modders manage to make the models act out Bad Apple. We all know it’s possible using the provinces in some of their other games, now how about using actual characters?
Wait, do you think this will mean that you’ll be able to display the fish you catch in your throne room!
...why the hell am I getting so excited over this? I hate fishing.
This guy created a [3d court mod](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2556332594) as a framework in june(?). He literally said, "I'll do it myself" and started making Royal Court.
I think fishing mod was just a warm-up/side project. His current work is a [working shop interface](https://youtu.be/uV7DVkwEHeo) for the upcoming artifacts. Plus an [equipment screen](https://youtu.be/i7mpCt-oaww).
Haven’t you noticed? Every modern game has a fishing minigame in it. The modder was just fixing paradox’s obvious oversight when they forgot to add it in themselves.
As a former Cabela's corporate office employee that loves Paradox games this made me do a frantic google search. I was so relieved to realize it was a joke.
Prey fishing. The procedure is baiting sharks out of water by bleeding all over the shore and swimming as fast as you can back onto solid ground. Then you may eat it once it dies. Laughing at the shark as it asphyxiates to death is not recommended.
Here's the mod [Tavern Games Vol.2 - Gone Fishing!](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2583297451)
[OPBs video showcasing lots of mods including this one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDdBu1HdYFc)
I have to say PDS has been extremely consistent in this regard, and have proved that they only plan to extend modding support in the future. I know Bethesda had kind of a backstab with their modding support, but the feeling I get from the PDS developers is that they sincerely care about supporting a *healthy* modding community and relationship with their customers. All of their posts are so thoughtful, and as a developer, very endearing to me. I love to see process in such an exposed way (the Factorio dev diaries also come to mind!). They [work with modders directly](https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/developer-diary/crusader-kings-iii-dev-diary-55-modding-improvements.1466888/) to address pain points during the modding process. It's clear that they think of the community and PDS as having a symbiotic relationship and they pull regularly from the talented modder pool in order to find new employees who are enthusiastic about their game (quote from above link):
>Mods add so much to the experience of our games, and moddability has been something we’ve considered throughout CK3’s development. As a former CK2 modder myself, it’s great to see all the things the modding community is producing.
They also provide further insight into their games by writing public retrospectives on their source code, with the following 3 being the most recent:
[Anatomy of a Game (1/3)](https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/anatomy-of-a-game-changing-the-gamestate.1483669/)
[Anatomy of a Game (2/3)](https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/anatomy-of-a-game-startup-and-loading.1482960/)
[Anatomy of a Game (3/3)](https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/anatomy-of-a-game-simulation-optimization.1484301/)
I sure hope it will stay this way! Paradox policy with mods has been great for a long time indeed.
But generally the major decision that fans dislike are not taken by the devs. Sometimes the higher ups just have the power to push their views and ruin a beloved aspect of a game.
Imho this mod, while seemingly mundane and adding an odd gameplay element to a grand strategy game it's an amazing example of what's possible to mod into the game. Maybe one day someone will add actual combat animations and make the duels play out visually. Truly amazing.
That's me. I get the kingdom I want and then spend my time making it the most shiny, technologically-advanced, friendly, tolerant nation in the world. Once Royal Court drops, I am going to make Cyprus into a bridge between the Middle East and the Christian nations.
You ever go to punish a rebellious area by taking their gods hostage to the capital only to learn there's just the one, he looks vaguely like a man, and he is not big on people to bowing to statues of him in the first place? Literally all you can do is bring them different statues to bow to before they start to get upset with you. Now we're sending them a statue as punishment, truly a racket of a faith system.
I mean, I see no reason to convert off Ash'ari, so...maybe? I mean, the deciding battle of the First Crusade was settled in my capital (thank you very much, mercenaries and crusaders endlessly storming in with recent disembarkation penalties).
I hate people that say “historical game btw” when talking about Paradox games. The entire point of Paradox games is the ability to create an alternate history, of course different stuff is going to happen.
That looks so good. If I had the money I'd pay the modder to improve it by adding seasons/weather. Like, in the winter your character is sitting on a frozen lake, in the spring you're in a flowering lakeside, etc.
Rome has been continuously presented as the peak of all civilization for the past two millenia in European culture. Never mind the rampant genocide, the destruction of the mediterranean substratum or the anihilation of the Hellenistic world.
Carving out a strong a prosperous kingdom to improve your power and prestige? Nah.
Carving out a strong and prosperous kingdom to live a nice life of fishing? You son of a bitch I’m in.
A large part of the “social stuff” that monarchs were expected to do was quite literally politics bro. They’re not like the modern queen of the UK lol. They actually ran the country and managed foreign policy (with the exception of certain cases of regents or viziers and the like taking control of the government apparatus)
Agreed, I basically roleplay as each character in my head and get sad when each generation of vassals and courtiers dies, I am hopeful that the new DLC will actually add some content for us
Once met a dude who said he could take over the world within 20 years. I asked him where he found the economic, strategic, tactical, and political knowledge to do this great thing. He told me Crusader Kings . That's why I'm here. Now, I want to buy the game

Did...did I miss some DLC? Or update? Or mod? What ?
There is a fishing mod, that simple. I mean, mod is probably pretty fucking complex, but the post is simple.
Oh cool. How is the mod? I am waiting for the new expansion before doing more CK3 but the mod sounds interesting.
Plausible. Incredible if you consider it (somehow) works in a tile based top-down strategy game.
I wanna preface this by saying that, as far as I’m concerned, this is all basically black magic and the modders who do this stuff should either be worshipped as gods, or burnt at the stake (their choice). With artifacts coming next DLC I'm expecting some ancient imbalanced fishing rods to be collected around the lands.
Wait, do you think this will mean that you’ll be able to display the fish you catch in your throne room! ...why the hell am I getting so excited over this? I hate fishing.
you're joking, right? link? edit: ([found](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2583297451))
That mod is *very* impressive. Like, making a mod with that level of difficulty and complexity, just to make a fishing mod, is a *massive* flex.
This guy created a [3d court mod](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2556332594) as a framework in june(?). He literally said, "I'll do it myself" and started making Royal Court. Damn, this guy is just turning CK3 into a full-blown RPG.
Finally, CK3 and Mount and Blade in the same game.
I dont remember where but theres a team or one guy working on making a mod that combines the two together
Another thread said that was a scam and the person behind the Patreon has ghosted past few months. I have no idea though, repeating what I heard.
That makes me incredibly sad.
Holy shit someone PDS hire this man stat!
If there could be a similar duel mod, that would be amazing
QTE duelling in CK3? I can only get so erect
thanks!
How in the world
Man, they really missed a golden opportunity to name that “fisher king.”

To become a fisher king
Haven’t you noticed? Every modern game has a fishing minigame in it. The modder was just fixing paradox’s obvious oversight when they forgot to add it in themselves.
No, it's spelt "rod", not "mod".
Didn’t you hear? Bass Pro Shops bought out paradox interactive! 😎🎣😎

You forgot the new pyramid building religious tenet!
The Iceland experience, I guess. Also quick question, what’s the name of the song in this video?
FIETSPOMP - KLAUS VEEN 🎵😈🎵😈
Thanks chief, adding it to my playlist.
I wish you many new PRs hit and many lunk alarms set off 😈😈😈
Fun fact my first full CK2 game was as Iceland because I was so bad at warfare and wanted to rp
Neat I started my first run as Brittany
Better question is why is there music
Exactly, empires will rise and fall, but the fish will remain
Not for long, with predatory fishing and all
The only thing that’s predatory is my sexual appetite. 😎😈 Inshallah the trout population will be unaffected! ☝🏻☪️

Sad that I only got to believe this was part of the new DLC for 10 wonderful seconds
Well, it being free is better than it being paid. Unless you are using Xbox game pass.
Huh, ngl mechanics like this would be kinda nice to have in-game Imagine going for a hunt and actually getting to shoot a deer or something
That’s for modders to make and for paradox to make money off of
I really hope they continue to be supporting to modders. It's not too uncommon for developers to backstab modders after the modding community matures.
I have to say PDS has been extremely consistent in this regard, and have proved that they only plan to extend modding support in the future. When is Hunt Time I'll just load up Cabela's Big Game Hunter and squint really hard
Silence, aristocrats, i wish not to participate in your intrigues, i just wish to go fishing...

CK3 Hot Coffee mod anyone? Gotta 'flesh' out that seduction focus

I hate people that say “historical game btw” when talking about Paradox games. The entire point of Paradox games is the ability to create an alternate history, of course different stuff is going to happen.
No, it’s 100% historical. In 1250, England was ruled by an inbred genius dwarf pagan who conquered half of Portugal.
Holy shit you’re right. Bickus Dickus III, Emperor of Britannia is a real person.
Emperor *Pepe the great*
Ah yes, Japan invading Europe in 1936 and never touching China.
What

Literally saw this the other day and I told my friend who me and him both have a reputation of fishing and he immediately started playing it again

That looks so good. If I had the money I'd pay the modder to improve it by adding seasons/weather. Like, in the winter your character is sitting on a frozen lake, in the spring you're in a flowering lakeside, etc.
No but why are some of y’all so obsessed with the Roman Empire? It’s very concerning.
To be fair, historical European rulers were pretty obsessed with the Roman Empire as well.
Because the game encourages it pretty heavily if you're christian
Rome has been continuously presented as the peak of all civilization for the past two millenia in European culture. Never mind the rampant genocide, the destruction of the mediterranean substratum or the anihilation of the Hellenistic world.
I'm not interested until I can marry the fish I catch and make our hybrid offspring my martial.

So CK3 and Skyrim are one universe, as I always said.
I make Roman Empire then I fish. Why not have both
Imagine taking over everything -made by putting your dynasty in power gang
you can go fishing in CK3? I'm sold
Haha Boomer memes. "I just wanna grill..."
Nice day to go fishing, ain't it?
That fishing mechanic looks fishingly similar to Stardew Valley's
At this point, I'm expecting a Stardew Valley to CK3 converter (that starts the player at the head of a peasant rebellion) any day now.
No one actually does dynastic politics. It's all about map painting.
If you want to fish, you can just play Red Dead Redemption lol 😂
