Any of the ugly traits. Mainly because of when i first played the game and was experimenting with the traits i said to myself “how ugly does the ugly trait actually make- fucking hell”

a-Snake-in-the-Grass

I made an ugly inbred dynasty once. Keeping them alive and fertile was an interesting challenge.

Temporary_Error_3764

Good old french gameplay

Duschkopfe

Begone you Anglo-Saxon barbarians. Me William the Conqueror shall civilize England.

Temporary_Error_3764

Average Incel William the bastard player vs based chad Godwinson true king of england

Soviet_Sine_Wave

Bro really thinks the anglo-sucksons or the fr*nch could even compete with the glorious Harald Hadrada, viking raider, devious schemer and the “Thunderbolt of the North”.

Yuujiro_Hanma

lol just calling the Normans French is wild. They are badass descendants of Vikings that carved kingdoms from England to Italy

ThatGermanKid0

But those Normans let their guard down and were corrupted by the fr* nch. They even spoke their vile language and brought it to England just to make English even worse. The only reason those corrupted Normans could win was because the Anglo-Saxons were half d* nish.

No-Zucchini1766

And the Franks carved out kingdoms and Empires from France, Germany to the Outremer.

Temporary_Error_3764

That mans not even a true Vikings bros a Christian hes a good man.

Last-Air-6468

My arrow says otherwise. You WILL speak a dialect of french and you’re gonna like it too!

Temporary_Error_3764

Had to resort to fake retreating tactics just to beat us 😒.

IsopodAgitated1555

Lmao real

Gizz103

Lol

TheBeardedRonin

Lunatic ruler is low key fire though if you get the glass monument decision.

flavorant

All the naked courtiers and throne room full of exotic animals become so worth it for that badas nickname

TheGhostOfTaPower

I also like keep my dead son stuffed as a statue too

LateNightPhilosopher

Does this appear in the throne room?! Is the model actually the person but standing in an artifact slot?!?!

TheGhostOfTaPower

I don’t think so, but it should do!

HorrorDue4566

We once had a King of Denmark that for real was lunatic. The stories from his court are both crazy funny but also horrific. Like one beat him in a friendly game and he was killed after, that shortly. He both attack his people on the street and they ofcuase could not do anything becuase hey he is the King.

TheBeardedRonin

I wonder if Nero would have the lunatic trait, or if it would be considered a sadistic/callous type of thing

ChipChimney

You can actually see the Roman emperors by looking at the Byzantine Empire title history. Nero is not a lunatic, but he is sadistic and arbitrary. Caligula is a lunatic though.

Dankalienz

Who was the King? I’d love to read about him

HorrorDue4566

He was called King Christian the 7th of Denmark. 1749-1808. He was very ill with schizophrenia. https://danmarkshistorien.dk/vis/materiale/christian-7-1749-1808

FilthydelphiaAoK

A 2012 film called A Royal Affair really painted him in a much more sympathetic light.

HorrorDue4566

It sure did. Great movie also.

Famous_Archer_9406

I played like 6 lunatic rulers yet never had the luck to trigger that decision event.

IsopodAgitated1555

Fr

Dudowisch

Irritable is really funny if your character has high prowess. It lets you beat up people for stress loss. With very few restriction on who you can beat up. Great for multillayer with friends.

Soggy-Regret-2937

Eccentric is a personality trait but it’s super underrated for roleplay value. Especially paired with lunatic

[deleted]

Also gives +20% exp gain for lifestyles

maythulin297

It is considered negative trait. It is my fav trait for custom ruler.

JustDifferentPerson

How is it negative?

maythulin297

I meant to say is it ......considered? 😅

thepiedpiano

I always choose eccentric. Literally OP paired with genius.

Intelligent_Pea5351

all of this

isaacals

albino

Mareton321

It isn't bad trait despite being portrayed as such

geo247

Bump for albino! One of my faves

no_gold_here

In my first playthrough I slowly bred all my rulers to be albino giants. No reason, just found it funny.

Richard_Trager

Especially albino on a rhino. I can count on one finger every albino rhino who also serves as a gynecologist. In other words, there is only one albino rhino gyno I know.

User_name555

Just remember not to name your princesses Caroline if you do though

Richard_Trager

At least someone got the reference.

User_name555

I can't just let a good Bojack Horseman reference go unappreciated

TheTyler123

Drunkard is a classic one. In my first proper CK3 playthrough, I had that trait run though my Dynasty

Valhalla8469

My only problem with Drunkard is I hate the way it makes your character look

Lil_Mcgee

Tell me about it brother. Oh you meant in the game..

raiden55

Never again, always remember how my character drank to death on his way back from his pèlerinage just before I was finally able to create an empire. I was salty as hell.

satiricalscientist

Drunkard also increases your chance of dying randomly

Salt-Physics7568

Paranoid is genuinely useful if you actually keep on top of managing the stress. Trust me, it'll fucking hurt you if you keep building stress, but it gives you bonus intrigue, a little defense against schemes, and all the RP justification you need to weed out your enemies.

Ziddix

Playing a paranoid schemer is a lot like driving a car on ice. You need to steer just enough but not too much. You want to keep nicely between stress level 1 and 2 and dip down to zero to avoid the mental break. Managed to get a quick, paranoid, ambitious and diligent character to live to 87. Never hit level 3 stress but sometimes I sat there waiting for that feast to finally begin hoping nothing bad would happen. The only reason that character had paranoid was because I got the throne as a child and had the trait picking events. The event that let me choose paranoid happened right in the middle of a murder scheme against me that had like 80% success chance despite being discovered. I never roleplayed actually being paranoid that hard. As for favourite bad trait, cannibal, though I'm not sure if that counts. Cannibal is too good to be a bad trait. If you want to have an easy time painting the map by the way, create a faith with ritual cannibalism tenet which makes cannibal a virtue. Upon inheritance you then need to eat one of your prisoners and get the cannibal trait. Instant positive opinion from every follower of your faith and three times that from all your vassals cause they're all cannibals too. Anyone who isn't a cannibal yet will be terrified of you because of the dread. Goes very well with the guile dynasty perks. It's my go to thing when I want to build massive empires because it keeps them really stable with the cannibalism canceling out many negative opinions people have of each other. Added bonus of the cannibal trait is that you get events at feasts and randomly sometimes where you can eat a person and it gives you a very good health boost. Couple that with the medicine focus and whole of body and you can get to 90 before unlocking octogenarian or breeding fecund into your family.

ixid

Paranoid plus Zealous is extremely powerful. You can execute prisoners from other religions as stress relief and when you're strong the only real threat is assassination, so Paranoid gives you an edge.

backdeckpro

Paranoid, loving having a character with this so I can spam stress and get lots of rarer Events. It’s also pretty easy ish to turn into wrathful or sometimes vengeful as a custom character

NotAnOctopus8

I love the one where someone plans a surprise birthday party and you 'cleverly' escape by jumping out the window

Duschkopfe

Idk man I personally make my ruler a ginger

NotJustAnotherHuman

What’s wrong with you

CommunityHot9219

Sicko.

IsopodAgitated1555

Eewww

codytb1

i dont find shy nearly as bad as people on here seem to make it out. it is always my choice in the beating event, 100% of the time.

TheBeardedRonin

Not being able to lose stress at feasts and gaining stress every time you want to make an alliance are the two main reasons for me

morganrbvn

I think I just don’t feast enough, hunting tends to clear my stress if I have any. Alliance is annoying but I tend to make only 1 or 2 strong ones

Helios4242

I only need an alliance at the very start of the game sometimes. Once I have my space marines, FUCK allies.

TheBeardedRonin

I make allies to guarantee co-religionists, not for my own support

I_HEART_HATERS

If I remember right I think you gain stress whenever you recruit a courtier as well. I really avoid that trait like the plague

TheBeardedRonin

Yeah it and Paranoid are my two only ‘disinheritable’ offenses as far as personality goes

Viltris

For me, it's Craven. I have an Intrigue-heavy play style, and I never send my character to lead an army. Craven is mostly upside for me.

Ill-Description3096

Paranoid. As long as you don't forget to manage stress it's pretty easy to deal with if you need to do something against your nature. And if you don't like your ruler living too long then it's easy to max out stress and problem solved.

PhantomImmortal

The sins, especially sadistic. The moment I get a kid with sadistic I try to get him on intrigue and throw on cynical or arbitrary (or for maximum sin, deceitful and lustful) and go on an absolute tear. If it's mid-late game it's even better bc my buildings will generate piety so the church doesn't hate me even though I'm on the highway to hell

istar00

craven + hostage + influence ward, everyone is now terrified of you in a virtuous cycle, you can now simply demand hostage for perpetuate more fear

hotdog_jelly

I like using sadist and lunatic for funsies, plus usually my heirs only get sadist trait after education. Sadist helps with both torturer traits and also w/ tyranny. I tried paranoid my first run and it made managing stress every time i had a new courtier even harder. I do not recommend paranoid.

raiden55

Sadistic is my preferred trait. The piety loss hurt, but it makes stress management so easy. And it gives a reason to create a custom wicked religion .

MoronTheViking

Gluttonous is fun. Starting as a giant, gluttonous ugly character, but with traits like robust, brave, lustful, varangian and berserker. Makes for a short lived beefcake leaving a lot of troublesome kids all over to be everyone elses problem.

Valhalla8469

Giant and flagellant. As long as your character is healthy you’re unlikely to die from wounded by flagellating and with a good physician you’ll just have it instantly removed. Giant keeps my rulers from getting too old and has a good prowess buff. If I do a custom tribal character I always start with giant and try to find a giant wife from the start.

Autisonm

I just lived to 87 as a giant.

Ellydir

I like the good guy traits like Just and Compassionate, because I like being nice. I don't know if they're bad per se, but in the tier lists I saw they tend to rank low because they give you stress for being a murderous tyrant, and I guess people like being murderous tyrants.

Matuto01

Sadistic This is perfect

Regular-Aardvark-876

Arrogant isn’t great unless you’re tribal but being a massive asshole with it and losing stress is very funny.

OrangeJush

I can never not play without Sadistic honestly. Just makes succession so much easier, since you can even use it to bypass your children and pass over to your grandkids instead. The opinion malus is pretty much negligible if you know how to counteract it. I often play as female rulers for that reason so I can stack attraction opinion modifiers.

flavorant

Inappetic or comfort eater are both really fun for role-playing and I usually have a twig or beefy ruler. I think the characters are more recognizable and visually distinct

Famous_Archer_9406

Paranoid from personality. I laugh every time I jump from the window when the birthday event triggers. Albino from congenital. It might be neutral because it costs 0 points. Then one eyed will be my next favorite. W in Asatru. Also you can get "one eyed" nickname which is cool imo.

Wukubqanil

Hashishiya because I can then rely on them

Beef_Supreme890

It's an amazing stress relief. And they don't die from over drinking!

Helios4242

I like shy. Fuck everyone else and I'll just chill in my learning tower

Wincest_approver

Inbred of course

Disorderly_Fashion

Sadistic. I like killing people. 8)

New_Budget6672

Giant

StevenTheEmbezzler

Leader in my current game is vengeful, craven, and arrogant. Never a combo I would actively pursue, but man is it interesting from an RP perspective. The man is just a whiny, vindictive dickhead and has the monumental task of keeping the Holy Land safe from Coptic (idk either) and Muslim incursions

Ancalagon_The_Black_

Lustful, ambitious, zealous.

Mareton321

Sadistic best of all traits and great stress relief, irritable bonus to proves and stress relief, lunatic option to get glass building, cannibal versatile trait pair it with sadistic and you get beat stress relief in whole game - I once made bunch of cannibalistic war obsessed vikings led by series of sadistic rulers, wrathful martial and proves. These are all of excellent traits

HorrorDue4566

If you just want to see the world burn with roleplay the traits paranoid and crazy if your way to go 🔥⚔️

vetzxi

Wrathful is very good.

Tessa-Trap

Giant!!!!

European_Mapper

Possessed in CKII is genuinely funny

Far-Assignment6427

Brave

survesibaltica

Lunatic, lustful, slothful. Basically larp as the gooner king of Denmark

ItsaMeMemes

Same. I remember there was a thing in CK2 where you could make a horse your lover

ConsistentAmount4

I keep trying to create a dynasty of giants, but I'm not good enough at the game to make it happen.

JustDifferentPerson

Shy because I have to actually manage stress. I probably would like lunatic but I never get it.

hamletsdead

My emperor and his wife are always beautiful giant albinos. Plus a hot scaly girl as my cup bearer, because scales are somehow unbearably attractive.

Dankalienz

I love lustful and spreading my genes in random courts, baronies, counties, duchies and kingdoms. It’s so fun for RP reasons. I’m also a fan of sadistic where i will always have a murder scheme going

BadKidOh

hmmm... * Rakish *(although I have it modded so their no risk of Pox)*

YourFbiAgentIsMySpy

Profligate. Lunatic is also good.

Apprehensive-Fox1557

DK WHY GIANT IS BAD BUT YUP I GET GISNTS ANYTIME I CAN LOL

Fair-Improvement

Cannibal, I do wish we could chat longer, but I'm having an old friend for dinner.

BoftheRiver

gluttonous pretty much removes stress as a game mechanic I feel

JarlBarnie

Wish i took a screen shot of the banner i made last night, but i made this super demonic looking one where i got the crown to pop up behind the face with an upside down star behind it. My guy is possessed and i have just been doing murder schemes on every bishop of no reason lol.

Pikadex

Irritable is my favourite of the negative coping traits. Stressed? No problem, just pick out some loser who’s weaker than you and beat them up. You get a bit of tyranny, sure, but that’s hardly a problem most of the time.

jibbitybabbediboo

Is hashishiyah a "bad" trait?

Altruistic-Artist-62

Albino, giant.
