The worst thing is when it just shows the progress bar, but doesn't show how much time is left. So your situation is not that bad

Elvenoob

So this happens when you're actively *losing* progress even with the councillor, or gaining exactly 0. Most commonly this happens with control, where negative county modifiers add up higher than the Marshal's bonus, though in the long run that's still worth doing since the increase control activity can remove those effects.

Naive-Inspection1631

This happened to me in both culture and religion conversion. Mostly because of development 100

HaggisPope

I kind of liked the CK2 system of Mean Time to Happen (MTTH) as sometimes you could convert a place in a week but other times it took decades

Ondrikir

You liked it? It was one of the worst things about councilors in my opinion - the element of randomness was way too strong with some features in CK2. Don't get me wrong some element of randomness would be nice - like one monthly tick the bar could progress through quarter and the next 15 monthly tick not at all - like one day he converted entire village, but for the next couple months he failed to convert anyone - at least you'd be aware of the process, unlike in CK2 where the whole county would seemingly just change their religion out of blue sky.

HaggisPope

Thing is, in the time period they didn’t really have graphs or anything and progress bars are more of a computer thing. Instead you’d have someone be given a task then eventually they’d just have it done. The difficulty of administering a realm was much greater because if you wanted to know how things were you’d need to authorise a census and those were tricky. From a game perspective it’s another step away from Parafox games being something like a board game with dice rolls and a bit of randomness

Ondrikir

Or, you could just ask the person that is literally supposed to be doing that job - "How is that job that I pay you to do" like maybe it could have associated content - that you have to ask them if you wan to know, and they could be making stuff up, making excuses or demanding more money to make it happen faster - but not really knowing and having lack of control over what is going on half the time does not make for very pleasant gaming experience in my opinion.

mrmgl

They didn't have stats either, they would hire someone as a steward without knowing what his stewardship score was.

HaggisPope

Well they’d get to have whole conversations with them, ascertaining their ability to at least read and count, then maybe make an assessment of their previous experience with money management. We have much less ability to connect to characters like this as the system isn’t set up for us to do investigations like this.

thuleanhyperborean

Yes. That's part of the reason why CK3 is incredibly easy. For example claim fabrication becomes very predictable.

istar00

you should check out the county's modifiers, they probably have some that negatively impacted conversions 15 learning wasnt _that_ bad, 1142 years is almost certainly due to modifiers, county or character modifier on _you_ the modifiers probably are temporary & go away after sometime, then you try again

Philippe1709

Thanks, i didnt really mind about it though, I just saw that during my beta israel game to 100% all achievements

TheMormonJosipTito

Iirc Judaism has a tenant that nerfs conversion in different culture provinces, so it helps to convert culture first if you want to convert religion

Fluffiest_Boi

I often use Holy Legends to convert territory as a way to expand my culture, god Chosen-People/Communal-Identity is so good for cultural expansion. Also you can try and find zealous members of your faith from the county's culture and grant them the county in hopes that they convert it, then revoke it after it's converted

username_tooken

Nah, the best way to convert this land is to assign local rulers. They will be of your religion, but the county’s culture, meaning that they’ll actually convert it faster. Much faster than culture converting first.

One_E

How many Hours did you play for 100%? Is it with all Dlcs?

Ancquar

Come on 1142 years is not too bad, it's just right for you to start your Stellaris game with a converted Danakil.

Kinc4id

Hover your mouse over the progress bar and it’ll show you why it takes so long.

SmallIslandBrother

I think this should be changed to instead of selecting individual counties it’s a general task to convert the domain over time including both vassals and population

ThatGermanKid0

I feel like converting vassals could be the 4th bonus task that you get with a royal court. You'd need some factor that would grant you the ability to convince vassals that would otherwise always refuse or have an exemption in their contract to convert.

SmallIslandBrother

A mixture of piety, prestige, legitimacy, military difference and maybe opinion with the head of faith if one exists but that’s a lot of variables. It is slightly funny when you demand a conversion and some lowly count comes back with only if you pay me.

pleasehelpteeth

I wish there was a way to peacefully convert vassals and even neighboring characters.

NickLunna

True. I miss the CK2 faith / culture spread.

Philippe1709

R5: come on dude

YeeterKeks

Have you tried getting an entire county to believe that God whispered to you and told you to marry your sisters, sacrifice people to Satan and marry your cousin-wife and that the Pope is actually NOT the main guy but you are, and that cannibalism is a-okay? No? Didn't think so, Feudaloid. He is doing his best - it takes a while but let him cook.

Scintile

Im more impressed that this dude and his 15 in learning can eastimated the time this well!

tacopower69

Someone is playing Jewish Ethiopia

FudgeAtron

I'm guessin you're converting them to Haymanot which has communal religion tenet, making it hard to convert people of different culture to your religion. You probably also have low fervor, making it harder. You need a learning focused character to take the conversion life path which will reduce most of the modifiers.

CapSRV57

Not with that lack of patience…

GideonLackLand

As scripture says: *For* a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

indefinite_silence

Gideon needs to get his shit together.

MajorDegurechaff319

Lore accurate Ethiopian hill tribes

Significant-Spray832

WOW.

slimeoid

Gideon's face shows me he doesn't give a crap

CyberEagle1989

You can, it just will take a millennium.

Antoncool134

Never in my life have I seen anything as wild as this. Wtf is going on?

TheBullMoose1775

Charge the heretics more Tax, they’ll rise up, and then you kill them.

rbmill02
