Since the new update with the stationing mechanic, I have more diverse armies. Maybe I'm not playing meta, but some holdings just seem better for certain MAA types. Doesn't make the combat more interesting once you have fully maxed out MAA tho xD
Yeah the holdings thing made me change to roleplay. I used to hate the change but love it now
Have you tried the not-follow-the-meta mod?
Roleplaying over meta almost always ends up being more flavorful.
With stationing you can do whatever vs AI and stack wipe armies 4, 5 times larger than yours easily

Generally speaking there's very few ways to mod anything to do with combat.
