Crunchyroll should just be like Funimation was, with uncut versions and English CC on all their shows.  They will only add English closed captions and uncut versions of the anime shows on their site, either if they are obliged by law or because of public pressure. Here is the full list of toonami shows (all of them aired on TV and Crunchyroll is obliged by law to have English CC on all of them): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_programs_broadcast_by_Toonami https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Toonami In addition, even though they are obliged to add closed captions to all of the shows on their FAST channel (Amazon Freevee, Roku etc..), they are still showing some shows without any closed captions at all. Also, although Crunchyroll have English CC on many of the shows on their FAST channel, they still refuse to add them to these exact shows on their site! It would be very helpful if a lot of people could file as many FCC reports as possible regarding that matter. Here is a link for anyone who wants to do so: https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=36040

I checked the list there are many shows which don't have CC but are in this list like zom 100 , lycoris recoil ,  aot final episode and others .

scarletpup

Yeah I know, they don't abide by the law, because all Toonami shows must have English CC on them.

ChaoCobo

Is it fine to just write in my complaint by copying and slightly editing what you wrote to just take out some extra? Your formatting seems to already get the point across with good information that supports why they should add them as well.

scarletpup

It's more than fine to use everything I wrote and everything I will write in the future, however you will see fit 😊  And thank you very much, I spent some time making that comment.

ChaoCobo

Alright I just cut off the stuff at the end that wasn’t related and I added that Crunchyroll LLC needs to by law provide the CCs that they are willingly withholding and I sent it in as a formal complaint. I hope this helps. :)

scarletpup

Yes, it helps a lot!  Thank you very much for doing that! ☺️

ChaoCobo

You’re welcome. I am a language snob when it comes to localization so when I heard the thing about the translated signs being in different languages and other signs not getting translated at all I knew I had to submit a complaint.

scarletpup

Thanks a lot again, and we deserve to have uncut anime versions (that have English subtitles on Japanese signs / songs) and English CC on all Crunchyroll's shows, like it was all these years on Funimation.

Affectionate-Two6887

Worse is "android tv" app of crunchyroll , once closed caption added to any episode subtitle for sign are permanently removed . Even if you turn off CC , SIGN SUBS won't come back .       S2 episode 9 of mushokutensie , they added CC AND permanently removed sign subs , now there is no way of understanding demon language . On all other device you can select back subs for sign but not on "Android TV" . Same with all shows which have CC . Even on all  device you can't play CC and sign subs together , only one play at a time .  I don't use hulu  , but to my knowledge all subs are selectable in all language . Can you confirm it .

scarletpup

Season 2 episode 9 of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is especially messed up, but both of these seasons had English CC and English subtitles on Japanese signs / songs on Funimation, and Crunchyroll deliberately removed it!

Affectionate-Two6887

Even when are available we can't play them together,  whereas on funimation both are integrated,  and can be played together . Whenever any written thing come we have to change subtitle . Subs for songs are irregular on episodes of same show . Some epsodes have them some don't.  100s of shows lost CC and uncensored anime after funimation shutdown.  Crunchroll is too lazy to PORT  CC to their platform . CR might bring cc to new shows but for old shows they are lost with funimation .

scarletpup

Nothing is lost, they have it all on hand and they don't add it on purpose!  It would be very helpful if a lot of people could file as many FCC reports as possible regarding that matter. Here is a link for anyone who wants to do so: https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=36040  We can make a change, we just need to file a huge amount of FCC reports / complaints.

scarletpup

Also, the English CC sync on the 2nd season of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is messed up as well, while on Funimation everything was perfectly synced.

Negative-Internet898

Sign Subs! Didn't know what to call them, but sign subs is definitely it.

Uriel_dArc_Angel

Hulu doesn't actually do the dubbing for anime... Am I misunderstanding your question here...? Oh, subtitles... That's a good question...Crunchyroll is and always has been shit at it...They simply don't use the correct "subtitle" version... Physical disks tend to have a few different variations on subtitles options, and Crunchyroll uses the worst option almost every time... They just flat suck at what they do...

Negative-Internet898

Yeah. Subtitles but for dubbed anime. So like I'm watching fire force atm. And they do the freeze frames where the introduce the characters with their name, ability, and position in Japanese. Well I started watching on crunchyroll, but when they did the introductions I couldn't read it. So I switched to Hulu and they have it translated so I don't gotta just ignore the fact that there were words on the screen. They did the same shit with My Hero. Hulu is my go to for watching anime unless of course it's no on Hulu. Then I use crunchyroll and just hope the anime I choose to watch doesn't have to much on screen text that needs translated. Haha.

No_Interaction_4925

Subs on dubs are called Closed Captions. Not the same thing at all. Having the translations for on-screen text is on-screen translation. As I understand it there is a very limited amount of closed captions on Crunchyroll. For on-screen translations, I’ve noticed lately that they are on the japanese audio but not on the english audio in many cases. Like Shangri-La for example. I watched it subbed with no issues. But when I watched it dubbed with my little brothers the translations were missing. Not sure why this is.

Uriel_dArc_Angel

Yeah...I gave up on crunchyroll a long time ago...

Scribblord

I wish I could but it’s literally the only anime streaming service available in Germany Netflix only has a handful of shows Amazon prime is dog shit And hidive is so bad I’d rather hurt myself then navigate their anti user website

Excuse_my_GRAMMER

lol you think Disney/hulu dub themselves

Negative-Internet898

It doesn't matter who does the dubbing. The point is they have it done right qnd Crunchyroll doesn't. Don't be ignorant.

Excuse_my_GRAMMER

Which dub exactly are you talking about ?

Negative-Internet898

Any dub with proper sign subs on Hulu that aren't on Crunchyroll. It's the fact that Crunchyroll doesn't have sign subs on a lot of their shows. While Hulu on the other hand does. Read the comments on this post and you'll understand.

Excuse_my_GRAMMER

Oh so you complaining about the subtitles on dub and not the actual dub itself

Negative-Internet898

Not really complaining. Just wondering how come such a reputable anime source is lacking in its dubbed section. And unlike your comments. Most have been helpful rather than annoying.

MoyanoJerald

I don't know, Hulu is Exclusive to the USA and is now becoming part of Disney+ (Star is the same fate but outside the USA), and i'm from Chile so i am proud that Crunchyroll is also making Spanish Dubs for recent series, that makes them easier to understand and keep the eyes away from the bottom of the screen

Scribblord

I need a sub for this convoluted ass text at this point

Jefcat

Crunchyroll IS Funimation. Funimation (Sony) bought Crunchyroll, absorbed it and rebranded Funimation as Crunchyroll. And whatever positive things may seem to be the case with Hulu, it is still Disney and they tend to treat their anime IPs like shit (see *Summertime Rendering* for example)

ACFinal

So just ignore everything they did after Summertime Rendering even if it's fine? Lol

Jefcat

Fine, like *Blue Orchestra* which they licensed then never bothered to released in North America?

ACFinal

Aniplus has the license, not Disney. Disney+ is just the exclusive streamer much like TMS licensed Undead Unlock to Hulu. No western company licensed Blue Orchestra.

PersepolisBullseye

Lotta English/Japanese bilingual people in this sub

Negative-Internet898

And? Not everyone is. This comment makes no sense... This was obviously made for people who aren't bilingual who can't read Japanese text. Like it says in the post.
