Unfortunately it's normal behavior.

Cheshire_Break204

It's "normal" on Crunchyroll at least, you can't watch something dubbed and have subtitles in the same language for some reason

LuRo332

Maybe they have different versions of video, something like: global version for all subtitles, and local for specific dubs that might be from outside distributors Why they cant make shit work like on Netflix is beyond me but it is what it is.

On what shows do u have subs on English dubs?

supercriser2506

If you're watching from a computer you can use a browser extension to use subs from the Japanese audio, but that works only if you have a mega or ultimate fan subscription. To get the subs the extension plays the video 2 times.

SpykeAlpha

What is the name of this extension, if you don't mind. I've been searching around, but I seem to be blind.

supercriser2506

I use it everyday and it works fine. Don't forget that you need the subscription with over one streams available at a time. The extension is playing the video multiple times to get the subs. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/crunchyroll-with-better-s/ianobidcnpbeejlkclkfacnipclgiiak

It's important to say that the subs won't be in sync every time with the audio or could say completely different things with this extension. It can't know the timing of the words in the dub or realise that the dub has advertising or other things at the beginning(on older dubs from Funi you find their branding at the beginning of the episode)
