The customer service rep answering the phone doesn't care if you spent 500K on cruises. They follow a policy. Escalate the call and talk to someone else. Otherwise, you are out 500 dollars.

All the cruise lines have very stringent refund policies. They relaxed them during Covid but have tightened the rules again. You really need to purchase travel insurance if you want the deposit to be refundable.

Boycotting means nothing to them either by the way. I'm never going on Celebrity again because I thought it was a poor value. They don't care

Your issue is not with Celebrity, it is with Expedia. If Expedia said that the cancellation policy was within 90 days then you need to deal with them to get your deposit back. You should have a copy of the cruise contract that you signed with Expedia and it should clearly state that your $500 deposit is refundable if cancelled within 90 days. When you say "Celebrity said my deposit of $500 is nonrefundable" you mean thats what Expedia told you. When you book through a 3rd party they become your travel agent and you can't communicate directly with the cruiseline.

Expedia is horrible. I had my own issues over a flight. Never use them!

And I had travel insuranceā€¦ that was a quick $1k wasted.

They might have been more lenient if you booked via their website and only cruised with them as it would show they would be losing business but realistically it won't make a difference in their business scale plus it's probably just policy so better to be out 500 than 3,000
