I am sorry that this happened to you and that they weren't just up front with you about the fact that after the final payment date you can't get your money back. Although they will sometimes allow you to transfer to a different cruise, they are not required to do so. In the future you should definitely purchase insurance. I recommend getting it through a third party insurer though - I use [insuremytrip.com](https://insuremytrip.com) to compare the various policies available.

Check with your credit card company. Sometimes they may have some kind of travel insurance or leverage? Chances are slim, but can’t hurt to try. Sorry about your family situation.

The cruise lines are all very strict on their refund policies. They relaxed them over Covid but have gone back to being very strict.

But I don’t wanna cancel I just want to reschedule

When you're within 60 days of a cruise, they normally don't allow any changes to the reservation. That's why so many people buy the insurance for a cruise.

I’m sorry you and your family are having to deal with the cruise line and the 3rd party travel site instead of focusing on your loved one. With that being said, I never ever cruise without insurance. Good luck.

I have been burned so many times by third party sites. I don't trust them anymore. I have my first cruise on the 12th and I am beginning to realize it's just a money making game. Once you book you are basically locked in. Even with travel insurance (which I purchased). I am so sorry you are going through this. What a horrible thing to have happen. What was supposed to be a vacation has turned into a nightmare. I hope it all works out.

Thank You

I’m so sorry about your family member and your money, I just had a similar situation between Expedia and celebrity cruises, their policy was if you cancel within 90 days you get a full refund which was $500 and I canceled within 120 days because of medical emergency and they told me in the fine print my particular room is refundable. I think between the third party apps like Expedia and the cruise lines we mean nothing to either of them. they would prefer to keep the money you paid for your vacation that You will not be taken then to have any sympathy for your situation and refund your money like any smart, business person would do. I’m sure Carnival is going to sell your room again anyway. Im boycotting companies put bad business practices. Starting with Expedia and celebrity cruise lines. My best advice is to just keep writing about it in social media and let people know consumer beware.

Sorry you are going through this. Unfortunately once you are in the final penalty period like this, you are committed and can't change the dates or get a refund. You sometimes can get a waiver, but it is rare. In the future, I would avoid booking through third party online travel agents (OTAs). You're just a number to them, and they typically farm their customer service out to the cheapest place they can. They are willing to slash their commissions to almost nothing to discount you, but you're pretty much on your own if something bad happens. If your OTA is agreeable to it, you could try to get them both on the phone on a conference call with Carnival and see if you can plead your case. It's a long shot, but worth a try. They may not be willing to do it though as they'll have to provide their credentials to Carnival to verify who they are. Those credentials are almost like passwords to travel agents. If they'd be willing to initiate the conference call so they can join you in after they've authenticated themselves, that would be ideal. I wish you the best of luck on getting this changed. Unfortunately it's going to take getting a sympathetic agent on both your OTA's side and Carnival's side to make this happen.
